Who is Evan Massey? I mean I am sure Bagley is done here but I would think/hope "looking to trade Buddy Hield and open to moving MBIII" would be the organizational priorities.

But it's clear that with Walton signed on for another year, Bagley won't succeed here/development won't be prioritized over winning games.

Not to reopen the can of worms, but if winning was the sole priority with the pick and development would take a back seat.... oh lord. it was nice laughing at my local club's pain for a hot minute. I go cry now.

100% guarantee that when that happens, the same people wishing he was gone now will suddenly be screaming about how trading him was a fireable offense.

Massey is part of NBA Analysis Network. He appears on ESPN and Fox Sports etc. from time to time.

I guess what I really mean is how much is stating the obvious vs. really well sourced?
I've accepted facts with Bagley but still distressed if prioritizing the move in the offseason beyond anything else is now just not even a dirty secret, insures we are going to get nothing.

Do you honestly see a path for Marvin to succeed here? I can’t think of many examples of a player struggling for three years before turning it on in the fourth year with the same team. Injuries, poor play, outside noise and poor fit have all contributed to the situation Marvin finds himself in. I truly believe he needs a fresh start to give himself a real shot of having a better career. From the Kings side, we need defense at at least one of the front court positions and Marvin is very unlikely to ever provide that. If we can flip him for a first rounder I think we can find a defensive role player that might help us more. Or, if Cleveland does draft Mobley maybe we can trade Bagley and Buddy for Allen?

I think just going all in on maximizing his playing time (assuming health) and development above squeezing every last W out of this team would be the path. Probably means a different coach (not happening) who isn't on the hot seat and has shown the ability to run an effective defense and who will scheme to Bagley's strengths. Obviously should have happened in his first year and the coach said screw that, and then the injuries started.

I have no idea, other than it seems like most bigs need three full seasons in the league before they even start to reach their potential. It seems more than anything to be an acknowledgment that we not only blew the pick but we refuse(d) to do what was necessary to make it work. oh well.

Looking at Phoenix jettisoning high picks and finding success it doesn't seem so bad, IF we can win the lottery again. :|

His path to success here, or anywhere for that matter, was remaining healthy and on the court.

His first 3 seasons in the NBA he has missed 20, 69, and 29 games respectively.
That means he's played 108 out of 226 total games. That's less than half.

MB3 can be upset with the KINGS and feel disrespected all he wants. The fact is, he's wrong to feel that way.
When you don't show up to work 53% of the time, things don't tend to work out well.

If MB3 was a stock, would you invest in him after looking over his 3-year performance history? Or would you look to re-invest elsewhere??

I feel like we have little to lose if we committed to giving him an opportunity this year since failure might improve our draft stock next year.
IMO the best case scenario for the KINGS and MB3 are for him to remain healthy and have a breakout season. Then they trade him for whatever they can get.

It's doubtful he'd re-sign here, even if they wanted to keep him. But even if he was open to staying they really can't risk extending him.
How could they possibly hand out a max contract to a kid that has played less than half the team's games through 3 seasons??

But what if he has another injury riddled season?
Maybe it is best to cut losses now and move on.

I don't think the KINGS need the distraction of another full season of MB3 and his family causing problems.

Giving Lebron and AD a shooter like Buddy would sorta suck and I don’t think I could stand a season of watching KCP but THT is an intriguing player that fits the time line better and there might be good value players available at that 22nd pick.
"Perfect trade scenario" ---- that's rich.

I've said it many times. Never make trades with division rivals unless it's a one-sided deal in your favor. Which likely isn't ever going to happen. Which is why org's rarely deal with their rivals.

The above deal is far from "perfect". It'd be downright stupid.

I would at minimum like to try to get OKCs two picks and swing for the fences if we go draft pick route. Or see what the Warriors will do. Try to get 3 picks teens or better since we can't get into the top 5.

I don't like it. Perfect for LeBron and the Lakers is more like it.

Outside of the fact that this doesn't even REMOTELY work under the salary cap, it is also - as per usual - completely one-sided in favor of the Lakers.

But hey, we're gonna get what we're gonna get. We're going to hound a promising young big man and one of the best three-point shooters in the league out of town and then when we don't make the playoffs for three more years we'll find somebody else to blame. Gotta figure at this point the fanbase is getting what it deserves.
