Kings and free agency - part 2

Josh Smith, McGee, or Koufos, and we are vastly improved. Was getting so tired of "potential", we are bringing in Vets that are known commodities and so glad because of it. Rondo brings great court awareness, ball handling, playmaking, defense, Belinelli are proven shooter, and a rotational big right now would just rock.

If he wants to play a two PG offense when we actually have two good SGs on the roster and one of the best SFs in the league, I'm actively campaigning for his removal.
The 2 PG system for stretches would give more minutes to DC over B-Mac. I like that for now until Ben shows consistency. Our personel now actually fits some of Karl's habits.

My thoughts exactly. Hit fit nicely in Houston playing 3rd 4th guy. Should assume same role here. Just a threat out there plus some shot blocking and another good passer.
I'm not a Josh Smith fan by any means but under Karl I think his signing makes a good deal of sense. Then a guy like Cole Aldrich at the vet minimum for depth, Casspi with the room exception and possibly another wing would give the Kings pretty good balance for what GK likes to run.

I forgot about McGee, that's another guy with more talent than FA interest. Might be able to get Josh Smith and McGee with the speace we have left and still re-sign Omri.

Yeah there was the tweet earlier that we were talking with smith. I think we find that other wing in summer league
Might as well have a youngster soaking in all the info that our vet laden team could dish out.

Also hope he doesn't intend to start 2 PG's
He's never ever started 2 PG's during his time in Denver unless if it was due to injury where I believe he had Anthony Carter (rugged Tony Douglas type defender) playing the 2.

Karl started the likes of Yukuba Diawara (spelling)/Dahntey Jones at SG before going with 2 PG's which he could have easily done with Miller/Boykins/Lawson or Billups/whoever else.

We were already looking for shooters. If we are letting guys on 1 year contracts dictate our lineup, we're in trouble. I just think he wanted to see it actually get inked. In other words, don't just tell me your plan. Show me.
Ya, it was no secret we were looking for shooters, he probably wanted to see one actually sign first.

Your missing what's happening. Other reporters are making fun of the situation saying they wish they were here cause it makes for easy stories.

I've been intrigued at the prospect of Rondo playing here for years, and I finally get to see it play out on the court. :)

I also prefer the 1-yr deal over a long-term deal, because it suggests that Rondo still has game left.
If he sucked like most people say he does, he would have cashed out with a multi-year deal.
The fact that he signed here, and obviously wants to prove he can still play at a high level, then after he does he can get PAID with the crazy money that will be thrown around next year, is a good sign.

BTW - where's all those KingsFans who were wailing just hours ago that the Stouskas trade was the worst ever? Where's the impatient, hyper-critical guys?

Rondo + Bellinelli is highly likely better than Landry, JT, Stouskas, and a 15+ draft pick.
I guess we'll see.

I don't think, just because Karl said he sees Gay playing more PF next season, that that means he intends to start Gay at PF.

At least, I sure as hell hope not.
I tend to agree with you.

It's not my ideal lineup. Just an educated guess based on Karl not liking rookies. I also see how having another shooter with rondo as opposed to Willie could be effective.

Really depends where Trill is at in his development.

Rondo and Collison playing together in the back court would be awfully small. Both are barely a shade over 6' and neither are strong and stout like Bobby Jackson was. Not sure that Rondo can defend 2-guards like Bobby could do.

I'll ask again: why did Rondo command 10 mil + requiring a shooter? Nobody else wanted him. He's not that good any longer, and I don't understand why he commanded this to play here. Offer 7 or go ride the bench elsewhere.

If WCS is as NBA ready as we all hope he might be and if Rondo is as motivated and able to return anywhere close to old form, I really like the combination of Boogie, WCS, Gay, McLemore and Rondo. Lots of length, athleticism and, most importantly, defensive potential. Collison and Belinelli should add needed offensive firepower off the bench or even in a starting role depending upon how all these guys mesh together.
