Let's look at the bright side for a moment.

I really, really, really want my Kings to stay in Sac-town BUT if the Kings have to move to Anaheim and hurt the Lakers in any way good for the Kings. I hear the Lakers' ownership is pissed (and worried) about the news that the Kings may head to Anaheim. The Clippers should be even more worried. The Maloofs would be FORCED to put a good team on the court. With all of that money they have to spend they WILL be able to build a competitive team and a winner to gain market share. You will see a whole different culture and attitude by the Maloof organization. Sterling would have to get off his arse and start spending money; something he hasn't done and something he would hate to do. He's making money just the way things are. Nice and easy. All power to the Kings to shake some things!!!! Its a given that these two garbage organizations will vote NO and maybe Dallas, N.Y., and Chicago. I bet the Lakers are on the phone trying to persuade the other teams and the Association officials to not allow the move. Queens, huh??? Paybacks are a *itch!
You know what, this post has opened my eyes to the bright lights that lay ahead for this team. It is sad that in due time, barring any miracles, that our Kings will leave Sacramento to Anaheim. It will be sad, if you can picture the last game at Arco, I mean Power Balance Pavillion, that it will be a very emotional game for the fans. Those who have sticked through it all, through the thick and thin, the bad times and the good times, that's what it was about.

Think of it this way.

For those of you with children, you will know what I will be talking about.

You have a son or daughter.. You love them with every second of your life, with every breath. You watch them grow, nourish and flourish, and see them change right before your very eyes but somehow you just don't seem to think of the time being past.

There are good times, the bad times, but you remember all of the memories because you truly love them.

They start to grow older, start to develop a personality, traits and characteristics of their own.

In your heart, you always remember your child as the child you loved, the innocent and carefree bundle of just pure love. You will always love them for who they are.

Time passes, you see them grow before your very eyes, and eventually they will be an adult.

They will venture into the world maybe and do things that will satisfy their hungry and thirst, to quench whatever desire that burns.

From what I will conclude of this to connect to the Kings situation is that,

Let's look at the bright side, the golden light that shines in our hearts for glory, victory.

If you truly bleed purple, you will know if you bleed purple.

If you truly bleed purple, you will know you bleed purple.

The Kings will move to Anaheim, a bigger market.

It will be a more attractive place to go to, more inducive for free agents, let's face it, no free agent would like to sign in Sacramento. Vlade Divac, Chris Webber are exceptions.

More media attention and about everything and anything that deals with this whole concept of the NBA and what not.

If you love this team, you will see that they are going to a better place for the future for when they will mesh and become an elite, which I am sure they will become.

No more small town media that grows in the dark like roots, no more unattractive "stereotypical" scene and idea that lingers in the minds of those who are unaware of Sacramento.

What I'm trying to say is that, in due time, through time, if you still cheer for this team and root for them like you do now, they will be an elite team, now surrounded among other bright city lights.

What I'm trying to say is that, if you truly love this team, no matter what, you will root for them and continue to be a fan to this team.

See it as a parent-child relationship.

Your child goes away, it's sad to see them go, but you know that where they go, they will have a better opportunity to succeed and flourish.

That's how I see the bright side of this issue.. even though they are leaving Sacramento in due time..

I will continue to root for the team no matter what.

I read the boards and there are fans saying crap like,

"You're not a real fan, I was born and raised here, you don't know what it's like, you weren't born here, blah blah blah, quack quack quack. I'm not going to support a team that isn't in Sacramento because they aren't here anymore. QQ."

Blah blah blah, quack quack quack. Cry more baby face, cry more.

Face it.

You love the Kings so much and you can't handle them winning in another city, letting other fans cheer for the team you cheered for your entire life.

Let's just be real here for a moment.

Who cares if they move, of course all of us do, but more importantly, we are hurt because they are going to a SoCal, the living boundaries, of our immortal enemy, our sworn enemy since birth... known as...

The Clippers...

But, who cares.

Let me tell this board something, let me be real here now.

Yeah, it's gonna suck *** when they move. So what. Continue to cheer for them, even though they suck *** now.

If you're a real griefer, then hope that they suck when they move to Anaheim, then get the #1 pick, pick a bust, watch the team suck even more than the Clippers, then watch the fans lose interest in the team because they suck, then watch the Maloofs bankrupt, wasting money on Free Agents that suck and suck even more, watch players like DeMarcus Cousins suck like Kwame Brown and watch Tyreke Evans lose interest in everything, play moderate because I know that Tyreke knows that this team sucks and he is really bored when he plays for a sucky team because that's how I see him.

Then watch the team suck more, hope they suck more because they moved away from Sac.

Maybe, maybe not.

But even if you do stop watching and following this team, who are you going to cheer for and root for? The love that burns in your heart for basketball... Who will you root and cheer for..?

THE WARRIORS?

THE CLIPPERS?

THE LAKERS?

Maybe for some of you,

Or are you going bandwagon on that express train known as the Miami Heat..?

Maybe for some of you.

Or fake your Boston Accent and cheer for the Celtics..?

Or you already have a back-up team to cheer for that is out of California...?

No.

No, you already know that you are going to continue to follow this team.

But you already knew that.

I already knew that.

Face it.

Whether or not we will become a good team in the future, I wouldn't know. Too many variables, to many possibilities.

But in my heart, I know that this team will be elite.

We all know this and feel this deep down inside.

Remember all that optimism when we draft DMC?

Yeah, remember that feeling around these boards?

Now look at us.

Crying like internet babies.

All I know is that I will continue to follow, cheer, root for this team.

No matter what.

What else team am I going to cheer for?

Just face it.

If you truly bleed purple, you will know if you bleed purple.

If you truly bleed purple, you know you bleed purple.

...even if they change our colors and name, then we will, or at least I will, bleed what ever color they present.

I don't care where they go, where they play, what their name is, I just know that this team is the one for me, and only one for me.

No other.

So raise your fist, lift your spirits.

We will hurt, but during these times of hurt, getting out of the hurt, looking back, only makes us know that the hurt was worth it..

But if the worst comes to worst, then we can always say,

"HA, THAT'S WHAT YOU GET FOR LEAVING SAC. DIE IN THE LIGHTS OF ANAHEIM, KINGS!"

That.

Or continue to stay faithful with the team you loved for so long, and keep going on together.

Together.

Together.

Together.

Together.

Together.

That's all the matters to me.

Maybe.

This forum has gone down hill emotionally.

Like existence is lost.

The future is bright even though the present is slowly becoming dark...

A bright future for a team in another city, right?

Haha, who cares.

I don't care.

I'm just saying.

I just know that I stay faithful.

I pick one team, and that's it.

Attracting FA's, and retaining our own, is something I've thought about, but didn't bring up because I thought the timing wasn't right. But I do believe, if the Kings do in fact move to Anaheim, the chances of retaining both Tyreke and Cousins longterm increases, as well as recruiting other FA's.

That will be a touchy subject for many, and I don't blame them. But I do see it as one of the few positives.

Underneath all of it, there may be another variable. When the team was good, there seemed to be a synergy with the casino business. Even when the team was losing money during the golden days, I suspect much of that was recouped by the "free" advertising the team provided.

This team has the makings of being good again, the foundation is there. However, I don't think they can get the connection with the casino part of their business again at least not like I think it was. At least not in Sacramento, there are too many other options now. However, with Anaheim being closer to their casino they could possible get that connection back. Just another possible motivation, not like they need any others.

i won't be following the kings much if they move. period. part of the allure of the team was the home town pride.
You can change some to most for me. I just don't see how anyone with ties to Sacramento can find a positive way to spin this. It sucks. There is no bright side. Getting better free agents in Anaheim isn't a good thing, it's salt in the wound of Sacramento and a slap in the face to small markets in general.

I'll still be a fan until IF EVER Sacramento gets a team back there which I could see happening. The NBA should just put the HORNETS there to see how it works out, get a 5 year deal in place and see if Sacramento gets them an arena. It really comes down to the city and if they can get a new arena. Basketball is a huge thing in Sacramento, it's for the city officials to realize that. I like the move to Anaheim because it's not outside of CA and we can still cheer for them. I lived in Sacramento forever and moved to So-Cal and its great down here. If I were the Maloofs I wouldve moved them to San Diego (if they built them an arena) that's a great city. So I'll still cheer them on and hopefully it works out for the organization.

Why do that? Just keep The Kings here and put The Hornets in Anaheim. As for the team still being in California, SoCal is the single worst place for them as far I'm concerned. I'd rather see them in any state besides SoCal.

SoCal is not a state, it's still California, people that think NorCal and SoCal are 2 different places, same crap just better weather and beaches and you can't put the Hornets there because thats not what the owner of Anaheim's Honda Center wants and isn't getting that offer. Ive lived in San Diego and Santa Monica over the last 8 years and can tell you that SoCal is a great place to live. I'm a Sacramento Kings fan but they're not going to be there so it's good that they're staying in CA. I watch them all the time on League Pass and now I can go watch them if I want but either way I'm a fan of the team.

I know it's the same state. I didn't say they were different states. i said i'd rather they move to any state than move to SoCal. If I say I'd rather they move to Jupiter than SoCal, that's not saying that SoCal is a planet.

Was thinking about the Hornets situation a while back. The Maloofs own the Kings.. they can move them if they want.. Not that I love them for doing it (I actually have hatred for them)..

Why can't the NBA just move the Hornets to Sacramento? If KJ is that interested in getting something build why not prove to the NBA that we can build it, then have the NBA move the hornets to Sac? Best case scenario right there if the Kings move. That plus we could boo the Kings when they come to Sac. Even better.

But OP, I am one of the diehards that won't follow them anymore if/when they leave. Too much heartache. The Kings are not like a child who is "moving out". They are like an ex wife that is sleeping with my worst enemy then asking for a divorce so she could move in with him.. Some things I can't forgive. This would be one of them.

Would certainly be cool if the Kings moved, left the name, the Hornets moved to Sac and became the Kings all over again. :) Highly unlikely though... not sure why any owner would want to take a chance on the Sacramento market for a long time to come...

That would be the ultimate justice. Five years down the road, The #1 seed Sacramento Kings sweep the #8 seed Anaheim Royals. A month later, Maloofs declare bankruptcy and sell team. We can dream!

Wow, this thread is a slap in the face. I would try to reply to it, but you would probably just label it as "cry more baby face, cry more". Or in other words "I'm way better than you and I'm still going to follow the team, LOL!".

.....right.

Doesn't the NBA own the Hornets though?

I could see the Kings move and KJ still getting an arena built.

Then in 2015 or 2016 when the new arena is built Stern decides to move the Hornets to Sacramento, or a business man with his head on straight realizes that with an arena in Sac and a team that could move here he decides to take over the Hornets, and move them to Sacramento. Lots of money to be made here under the right circumstances.

I was actually talking about that with my buddies tonight. Devastation aside, if they leave, at least the team I root for will have an advantage when trying to resign players and attract potential FA's. I have to try and look at something positive.

Maybe some salt, but if you continue to root for them just as you do now then it shouldn't be an issue. To each is own though. I can see both sides.

I think most of us (who originate from Northern California anyways) would have no qualms in following the Kings if they went anywhere other than Southern California. The dislike of all things "LA" by those of us who hail from the uncivilized wilds of the north is what makes this all that much harder to bear, and a little less easy to relate to for those of you non-locals...

The whole idea of attracting more free agents in Anaheim is complete bunk anyways. Just ask the Clippers how being in L.A. has helped them as far as attracting free agents. Free agents aren't attracted to zip codes. They are attracted to winning organizations and money, plain and simple. The notion that small markets can't attract good players always has been and always will be total hogwash. It's bad franchises that can't attract players and that goes for ones in big cities, too.

Hmm. I recall Amare signing with NY and Carmello essentially forcing a trade there. I also recall Baron Davis signing a Fairly lucrative deal with the Clips, but I will admit LAC does not generally bring in big FA's, but that is due to Sterling.. Both NY and LAC were both awful teams, but big markets. You think that may have come into play? Back when we signed Vlade we had to overpay. Other than Vlade, please name me one big FA that we have signed. As far as I can remember Keon Clark is the only one that comes close, unless you consider Moore and Salmons big FA's.

Right. Amare signed there because they paid him the big bucks. Carmello wanted to be traded there because Amare was already there. And if they end up with Paul or Williams, it will be because Amare and Carmello are already there. It all starts with The Knicks doing what it took to sign Amare in the first place. It's not like he just went there because it's New York. They made him the best offer. As for the Kings, in the "glory days" they didn't need any big free agents. By the time they did need them, the team was a wreck and they had their money tied up in too many mid level contracts. It was more poor management on The Kings part than the city of Sacramento itself being kryptonite to free agents or something. if the Kings had been as well run as the Jazz for the last two decades, do you really think they'd have all this trouble signing free agents?

Technically, Webber and Bibby were free agents. They chose to stay. The Kings never really had any cap room except for the MLE after signing Vlade. Kinda hard to get free agents with no cap room. Kobe had a bigger offer from the Clips a few years ago. Baron Davis is from LA and he thought Brand was going to be there, but guess what? The clips couldnt keep Brand. SF is what number 4 and chicago 3. How many all star free agents have they signed the past 10 years?

Yes they were, and we had the Bird rights and we had to overpay substantially to keep both, as well as Christie. As far as the other big FA's in CHI and SF, I can only think of Boozer right now. I'll have to do
My research. My point was that it is easier to lure bigger FA's in a bigger market. I really do not think that's debatable.

Doesn't make much sense. I lived in Sac for 21 years and now in L.A. and I don't hate anything L.A., it's basketball, it's not life. If you lived in SoCal you'd change your perspective. The sad part is that people don't like SoCal based on sports and to tell you the truth. If I could play sports in SoCal over say SF/Oak and Sac I'd go to SoCal for the overall lifestyle. I love Sacramento, my entire family lives there and I go often, it's my hometown but it doesn't mean much to me, it's just a place I grew up. I live in Los Angeles and it's great, it's a city not a team. You think the LAKERS represent L.A. is funny. Your listening to rich athletes and coaches that don't have the same love for the team as the hometown fans that pay to watch. The Kings will always be my team even if they were to go to Kansas City or Seattle, you get it. So don't knock the people of, wait for it, Orange County, wait, no, not Los Angeles, can't be, you mean the Kings won't even be in Los Angeles and the people of SoCal all suck, really, well I'm going to have to put a bigger sticker or NORCAL on my car and drive down to the first Kings game and protest. It sounds like I'm getting mad, oooh, I'm pissed... Ha, seriously though, you make it sound like all the people in SoCal hate Sacramento also. The funniest thing I heard someone tell me in L.A. about Sacramento is that "I went rafting there and it was so damn hot, I liked it but too damn hot." I laughed and told him he's right, it's hot there and that's why I go to the beaches all the time, ha. So in the end, people shouldn't stop being fans no matte what and if they get a new team, then as a group we can all change teams.

You can change some to most for me. I just don't see how anyone with ties to Sacramento can find a positive way to spin this. It sucks. There is no bright side. Getting better free agents in Anaheim isn't a good thing, it's it's salt in the wound of Sacramento and a slap in the face to small markets in general.
cosigned. screw this thread.

Not me. I'd be crushed no matter where they moved, even if it was San Jose. Anaheim just makes it sting slightly more.

I will follow the Kings where ever they go and what ever they are called. I am a fan of the Kings and not a fan of Sacramento. Isn't this a silly debate?
