Ok, well...its a play. Probably means Smith is getting a better offer from Dallas or some such.

Bargs can stretch, and other than Smith he's obviously the most talented guy left out there for the frontline. But always the question with him is is he going to work? Is he going to fight? I don't know. I don't respect him at all. But he's a legit talent. With that I might like to just cap things by bringing back Reggie so we could finish off with veteran toughness to counter Bargs dash of soft. Sign Miller as the 3rd PG, and be ready to go. So much more talent and experience than we entered last season with.

P.S. while he may not play big, he will finish off now the tallest frontline in the league.

I think you meant to say: "So much more talent and experience than we entered the last 9 seasons with."

Peja has been in Vlade's ear in Vegas = Bargs. Well it might work out if his role is right I guess. The guy is tall and can shoot 3's right?

Can kind of shoot a three. That's been overblown for a long time. He stopped hitting them somewhere back around 2010. Guys like Cuz don't scare me, because they have the fire, you just have to redirect it. I never know what to do with guys who just don't care enough. No idea how you reach a Bargs and get him to play up to his talent. Like a lot of our team though, lot of talent for a HOF coach if that coach sticks to coaching and keeps his junk in his pants. We've got former All Stars, All NBA guys, former champions, #1 picks, All Stars, gold medalists...the talent is finally there.

In regards to the seemingly likely future signing of Bargs, at least it adds some shooting to the bench unit, although I am not sure what his role is going to be... backup PF or C? Regardless, our bench unit now has better shooters than our starting lineup:

Rondo < Collison
Ben < Marco
Rudy > Casspi
Cousins < Bargs (from 3 anyway, mid range I am unsure about)
Koufos = WCS (both will be for clean-up duty, easy buckets offense)

The major problem when looking at the bench (I may be forgetting someone, correct me if I am wrong) is that we literally have no low post scorer. Bargs is the closest that comes to a low post scorer, but he's softer than a boston creme donut. Problem could be solved if we put Bargs in the starting lineup in place of Koufos which would certainly open up space for Cousins, but our paint would be like a cleared runway for guards and Cousins would foul out in 15 minutes.

He will not ever have been worthy of a number one pick, but he still can be a decent addition.
No he won't... BUT I LOVE THIS MOVE!!! if we drop the he's a #1 pick bust and not a star.... HE IS a great bench stretch 4/5 that can nail 3's and still can get you about 1blk a gm. He's also never had a star big like Cousins that bangs down low... he will have lots of open looks

Well.... he can hit a 3...Has been known to block a shot here and there. 7 ft 250lbs of Charmin otherwise.

Hey! Barg's is kinda like a poor man's Spencer Hawes! That's awful! :p

But whatever.... as long as he doesn't start.

That always drove me crazy about him too. He has definite talent but he doesn't care enough to work to make himself a star.

Yes, at this point you are just filling your bench with specialist. In this case a stretch 4, hes soft no doubt, but playing next to Cuz or Koufos should help with that. Bad rap in New York, but they wanted him to be a starter and they just suck in general. I thought he was decent in Toronto, certainly not worthy of #1 overall, but a talented player, certainly worthy as a deep bench specialist.

NO!!!! NO ONE CAN POSSIBLE BE A POOR MANS SPENCER HAWES! HE IS SO FAT AND OUT OF SHAPE / WORTHLESS.... AT LEAST BARGS IS FIT.... THE CLIPS WERE IN SUCH NEED FOR A BIG AND HAWES COULDN'T EVEN GET ON THE FLOOR.

Here is the shotchart for Bargs btw from this past half season in New York:

As you can see, a really good shooter from almost everywhere, a complete weenie inside, which we actually don't care about that much given he's jsut supposed to be an outlet for our bangers. The interesting thing is the complete lack of corner 3pt shooting. That is a big focus for Karl, that very shot. Its well within Bargs' range, but last year he never even attempted one from either spot. Might not be comfortable without the backboard there.

I simply don't like the guy. He's a pansy. He's one of the softest players in this league. He represents everything I do not respect in a pro athlete.

However, his ability to spread the floor does make some sense. As a 4th big out there next to WCS or Koufas, there's clear logic to it. His shooting ability has to be honored, which improves spacing. We need shooting.

DC
Ben
Omri/Butler
Bargs
Koufas

is one of the better benches in the West if not the league. If it's Cuz/Koufas starting, WCS/Bargs is pretty good too. Bench is miles ahead of last year.

Knicks fan here. This guy is
-a horrible rebounder
- he can't defend to save his life
- terrible IQ
-Low impact player career 0.59 WS48
He is just a decent shooter with decent scoring. Seems like we are switching players with the exact same skill set. It will be interesting to see who does better in their new settings.

If you are talking about D-Will, I would not classify D-Will as a decent shooter, as apart from stand-still threes, he's not very good at all at shooting the ball. D-Will's bread and butter is near the basket for dunks and lobs, although he will have a game once in a while where you will see why he was picked #2 in his draft. His low b-ball IQ has never allowed him to put it all together.

Yeah it will, you'll get a kick out of Dwill on the highlight reel but that's about it. I'm not sure how much Bargnani is going to help us. As long as he's serviceable in short spurts off the bench, our 2nd unit defense is pretty solid so we'll be able to pick up his slack. Hopefully he stays healthy, he's missed like half the season the past few years hasn't he?

Ah I see! Good information.
