@Vivek @lesliempr Please don't tell me we let Evans go and are now looking at Ellis. GS got good when Ellis LEFT, remember???

Leslie Moore ‏@lesliempr 21m

@rloutz I also remember that no one wanted to come to Sac a few years ago and that someone just stepped in & saved them for you. Patience.

Looks like the front office is getting a lot of flak as that response seems to reflect just a little bit of frustration.
mmmm... oh i just love seeing that thrown in the faces of kings fans...

jesus, we're not idiots. the majority of us know that free agents have no desire to come to sacramento. that's why i've always maintained it's important for a small market franchise like the kings to invest from within. i've said it repeatedly: re-signing evans would have been prudent because, alternatively, the best you were ever going to be able to do on the free agent market was to overpay for a selfish chucker like monta ellis who no other team will touch for the kind of money the kings' new regime is considering throwing at him...

Napear, Carmichael Dave and now Leslie Moore - all telling Kings fans to be patient. Which means they are all missing the point. This isn't about patience. It's about being upset by flat out BAD basketball moves.

Kings fans aren't expecting or demanding a contending team next year. They are asking for improvement, even of the slow and steady variety. Not patch jobs using Warriors cast offs and guards squeezed out of the New Orleans Pelicans roster.

Yes, I'd have preferred that they keep Tyreke and start him at PG alongside McLemore. Add a small forward who can pass/handle and acquire a defensive minded PF and let's roll. Clear out any other pieces you need to to compliment the starting lineup.

But if the new regime didn't want to keep Evans I would disagree but I could roll with that too. Let him go for caproom and flexibility while stockpiling young talent & draft picks, slowly getting rid of bad contracts while signing a few vets on short, small deals to help smooth things over until the young talent develops. THAT is how you rebuild.

Swapping Evans for Ellis? Signing Landry who is really a bench scorer? Not addressing the SF?

Kings fans aren't impatient. They are smart. And more than anything they've had years, no DECADES, of experience at spotting terrible moves as they happen.

The "we saved the team" argument is getting tiresome and frankly a little insulting. It's like someone saved our house from foreclosure, for which I am eternally grateful, but since taking over the deed have ripped out our jacuzzi bath, put back up the clashing, flower-print wallpaper we tore down years ago and is now taking measurements to install wall-to-wall burnt-orange shag carpeting. I will forever praise your name Mr. Ranadive, but I'm going to have some complaints.

Thomas Robinson was also a young, strong player. We traded him for PPat and Aldrich, everyone was FURIOUS.
Really? Did Thomas Robinson win rookie of the year?

Yeah, I was furious when Robinson was dealt. Because I thought it was a bad draft pick to begin with and trading him halfway through his rookie season just confirmed that the Kings wasted the #5 pick in the draft six months earlier.

Not remotely the same situation as letting a 4 year vet with a proven track record leave and then clearing cap space to sign an inferior talent for the same money.

To the contrary. We were pretty happy with that move. We were more furious that the drafting of Robinson himself was a wasted pick.

that book isn't finished yet, either. not looking real good for T-Rob so far, but it's been one year. we, otoh, might walk away from that whole situation with nothing to show for.

seriously. nobody's asking for a miracle. i was just hoping to see smart basketball moves [to improve the defense], as opposed to desperate basketball moves [to improve an offense that should hardly have been a priority]. i was even okay with the new regime punting on PF this offseason. i'm posting this lineup again for the sixth or seventh time:

PG tyreke evans
SG ben mclemore
SF matt barnes
PF jason thompson
C demarcus cousins

that team likely isn't playoff-bound. but a trio of evans/mclemore/barnes has endless defensive potential. as a result of those three cutting off penetration on a nightly basis, the kings would likely improve as a team, defensively. and that would likely help to get them above the 30-win threshold for the first time in years. then you address the other needs, and continue to improve in an upward trajectory...

From the beginning this has been a discussion about basketball. That the party line is now to ignore that argument completely and try to distract us with unrelated comments about the Maloofs trying to move the team, well that's as close to an open admission that there is no counter-argument as we're ever going to get.

they cant even play the "wait and see" ellis, vasquez, and landry are career losers and we just might have blown all of our cap space/tyreke to get them.

All I'm saying is whats done is done. Nothing you can do now but to look for positives and figure out the thinking process of the FO is. If I had my ideal July 10th, it would be to match Tyreke and have him stay. But this FO isn't looking like they believe he can fit with Cousins, so be it. I'm just a fan. I refresh Kings Fans everyday hoping we trade for Granger and Asik. Not happening :(

Anology -Pda is like a drug addict...sure when he gets out of rehab and its one day at at time ala no moves are happening in free agency or trades - u say patience. Bt when he get out of rehab and he has it( monta ellis) lined up and about use -we have to try to stop him, we have to say something and help him for his own sake. Say no pda

She's in a bad position as a public facing wing of Vivek and co especially since she just knows enough basketball to try to argue.

I feel bad for her. It shouldn't be her job to defend the FO moves - that should fall on PDA - but she's accessible.

That said, the "are you a season ticket holder" bit IS insulting. So is Carmichael Dave telling people to "STFU" because the team was nearly gone. Both are ways of not having to actually defend bad basketball moves by deflecting.

This Leslie lady is quite smug, asking people on twitter if they're season ticker holders before considering their opinions.
It's almost as though the FO expected carte blanche for a few years from the fans. Social media is the double edged sword. If you want to be connected with the fans, you're going to have to deal with being connected with the fans. I don't know who @LillyAnnFrazier is, but man, she's come out with both fists swinging.

None of that is acceptable. Lets just accept crap. Oh well. We're just fans. Lets just watch like sheep and trying to keep telling ourselves that everything is ok.

I met her before, she's very passionate about the Kings. She's also quite easy on the eyes.

Yeah, I saw that. And she has been right on every point.

Not tiresome to me. The team is in the midst of an overhaul, and everybody wants to demand accountability before one minute has been played on the floor. It is crazy. There are actually people who don't think Tyreke was "all that". Most of the outrage seems based on the premise that Tyreke was ALL THAT and letting him go was an epic botch. But I don't see how anybody in their right mind can deny Vivek the prerogative to build the kind of team he wants, even if it is smallball, nellieball, or whatever else. This front office didn't want Tyreke!!! That's it end of discussion. This front office prefers Monta to Tyreke!!! Hold your breath till you turn blue, boycott, cuss out PDA... have a ball. The team is being overhauled top to bottom, apparently sparing DMC. The mean spirited insults hurled at PDA are disappointing. Frankly, I don't believe the elite core of kingsfans.com know-it-alls have better NBA acumen than Vivek and Pete, no matter what your post count. I think reasonable people can disagree, but the tone of the attacks on PDA is not one of mutual respect and disagreement on approach or style. They are blistering attacks, calling the guy an idiot. I find it appalling.

Buy tickets. When people were hoping and pleading for someone to stop Hansen from taking the Kings, there was an implied promise to buy tickets. Buy them. And you can flame PDA all you want on the message boards, but please buy tickets so the NBA knows it was the right decision to keep the team here.

I'm with Leslie and Dave on this one, but I also think the function of this board, at this time, is to give people an outlet to flame the pants of PDA. Enjoy, have at it. But, I hope you're buying tickets - if not season tickets, then as many individual games as you can afford. The arena needs to be full.

Bad basketball moves? Let the scoreboard decide. The roster isn't final and no games have been played so I think it is too early to declare this FO "wrong".

Its crap by what standards? Individual Statistics? None of us have seen a single with this lineup / coaching staff!

Personally I'm less upset that Tyreke was let go than I am at the subsequent moves.

And I'm upset that these moves directly contradict what the fans were told by D'Allesandro directly

He said this team has talent but the pieces don't fit and then proceeded to sign another undersized PF and is now reportedly trying to acquire another undersized chucker guard.
He said he wanted defense and then traded the teams best defender for a poor one. Landry and Ellis are weak defensively as well.
He said he wanted to build around Cousins yet Landry and Ellis will take touches from DMC without complementing his game.
He said he would "aggressively" search for a SF solution but is now apparently spending all the caproom on Ellis and Landry.
He said he wanted to "change the culture" but is targeting a guy who improved the Warriors culture by being traded away.

But you are right. It's their team and they can make the roster as ill-fitting as mediocre as they desire.

My question is, what has D'Allesandro proved that you are willing to put your faith in his abilities as a first time GM?

Good for you. Block all of us then. This is not a nice world. You're in a position of authority and need to make decisions that has future ramifications on the future of this team, yes you'll be 2nd guessed until proven right. Just as they are free to do whatever they want with the roster, we are free to say whatever we want about their moves. I hate every single move thus far other than drafting Ben McLemore. It's pointing towards them building a type of basketball team that looks pretty and easy on the eyes but won't win more than 20 games this season because they'll be letting the other team score 115 pts a game. Aka sissy basketball.

It's definitely crap right now. Not the players themselves, but the collection of said players. There are many duplicative pieces, and overpaid anchors who do little on the defensive side. We keep going after guards and stubby forwards, when it's clearly obvious that SF and shotblocking is a need.

That said, more moves are likely to be made, and that's all I can hope for right now.

When has Monta Ellis ever proven to be a great on ball defender/team defender and a person that wants to share the ball?! Never! When has Carl Landry proven to be a shot blocker and a good post defender/rebounder? Never. We came into the offseason needing more ball movers and interior defenders. We got none of that. You guys wanna point out Vasquez's 9 assists a game. His team as a whole averaged the same amount of assists a game as we did. That means the Hornets/Pelicans built the offense around him controlling the ball. How many games did they win with that formula? Why did they trade for Jrue Holiday then? Other than Vivek saving the team and drafting McLemore, this offseason has been horrific.
