Little by little, things are falling into place. For an organization that is viewed as dysfunctional and makes knee-jerk decisions, Vlade is going to change that view with these hires of Catanella and hopefully, it appears Joerger. A patient well-thought out methodical approach and its going to pay off.

Joerger will do well here but i am very mindful of recent situation which he has perpetuated for himself. I do not want any politics, in fighting, power games etc from our future coach and its important Vlade do his due diligence here to ensure he can maintain a long term sustainable relationship with Joerger.

My preference is still with Vogul if that can happen, both have similar defensive mentalities and for whatever innovation Vogul lacks offensively he makes up for through being a very steady, understandable character with little or minimal baggage. I'm not saying that Joerger isn't a standup guy or has alter motives but i am somewhat weary.

Many on here were happy when we got a name coach in Karl and didn't pay any credence to his recent man management issues, his stubbornness to his ideology and clashes with management. Joerger isnt Karl but lets just take our time with this one and make sure that we do our homework, cover all bases and understand when went down at memphis and if indeed Joerger is our guy.

What went down in Memphis was Joerger was underpaid (making $2 million), went to Wallace seeking compensation aligned with market value in form of extension. Wallace said "no", so feeling disrespected Joerger asked for permission to interview with the Kings, and Wallace fired him for "lack of commitment" to the Grizzlies. I don't perceive this as a negative against Joerger. It is a guy properly managing his career and wanting respect to be a two-way street, and get paid commensurate with the job he did. I don't think this has any resemblance to Karl because Karl was never making less than market value. And (as far as I know) Joerger has never tried to strong arm the front office to gain control over personnel decisions. Karl tried to do that here and in Denver.

good points. Joerger did want a much younger squad though and when his input regarding this fell by the wayside with the FO that's when the sniping in the press started. He clearly does want to have a seat at the table re personnel decisions and thats fine but Vlade should note this because at the end of the day these two need to be on the same page and take us forward.

I sure hope that Joerger made plans for a 3 or 4 day trip to sac town!

I think today was a meet and greet and show and tell meeting.

If all goes well, I expect vlade to hammer out the contract details with Joerger agent tomorrow and he will sign by Tuesday or Wednesday.

This also gives his wife time to look for a nice new house.

Yeah I also think that Vlade wants to make sure that the answer will be YES if that contract is offer. Would crush our rep if we offered it to him and he used it to leverage a job elsewhere.

There isn't a coach in the league that doesn't have suggestions in regards to their roster. In most cases, a GM will consult with his coach about what the needs of the team are. Apparently they didn't want or need any suggestions from Joerger.

Weren't there also reports that Joerger wanted Memphis to draft Rodney Hood instead of Jordan Adams and then proceeded not to play Adams much?

Also didn't he say that he was not going to be involved in pre-draft workouts which took some in the organization by surprise as they expected the coach to be there for those?

It's not all roses with him but sometimes it's a two way street. There will need to be some background checking on this one. On surface it doesn't look great but there might be genuine reasons behind it.

His owner asked him to wear an NFL-style headset and threatened to fire him for refusing (in his first week on the job). Sounds like he fought fire with fire.

I remember reading something about that... He had told them he was not going to be there are predraft workouts. He said that at end of the season after playoffs. But it sounds like he was so fed up with Memphis organization, that he was already determined that he was not going to be back. Thus he was asking for permission to speak to Kings

I really like Joerger, but would much prefer Vogel instead. Despite him being a good coach at Memphis, I don't like the potential of a power struggle, nor do I like the fact that he never played his younger players.

Vogel has proven that he can develop players and get the best out of them.

I hope the power concerns aren't too big of a deal...

I'll trust Vlade on that call. He's a smart dude

I really don't think Vogel is interested in joining the Kings at all so that is more or less a moot point. Joerger would be amazing
