[Game] Kings @ Nuggets - 4/2/16 - 6 PT, 9 ET

I hope the fans and his teammates are enough for Seth to pick up the player option. His end of the season push might open a few eyes around the league that can afford more than a million next season

If he wants out he'll get it. Especially if we somehow retain Rondo. He's showcasing.

I see no reason why he doesnt opt out, he makes 975k, he has been playing better than a league minimum guy. The advantage we have is that he is cementing his spot on the roster. There will be quite a bit of roster turnover and he would be coming back and not having to re-cement his place with a team.

Am I the only one who thinks WCS offense > his defense?
I wouldn't say it that way. I would say he s coming along slowly and both his offense and his defense are not consistent yet. Both his O and his D are spectacular at times but both need more work before I would see him as a starter on the Kings. Keep up the good work. He was a good pick.

Admittedly, I haven't been watching many games lately because of this wasted season. I decided to watch the last game, and it was a quality win imo. Despite decreasing our lotto, we saw good team basketball.

I don't know that Curry makes 15/30 teams in the NBA. As terrible as Karl has been this season, if he can't make the rotation with our sucky team, I don't see how he would with a lot of other teams.

He's steadily improving, but I just can't see why he would pass up guaranteed money for FA knowing that he was just in the DL last year, and the only time he got real minutes was when the season is already over.

"Good team basketball." Great! How often have we been able to say that this year - even in many of our wins. At least not for full games. Bottle it and put it on the shelf for use in future games.

I would hope the Kings still have the upper-hand in retaining his services should they want to because (a) the HC that wouldn't play him all season will be gone and (b) living in NorCal keeps him closer to his brother throughout the season.

You are probably the only one at this moment. However let us remember that Willie had no offensive role in his three years in Kentucky. He shot three jump shots in three years. I think it is extraordinary what he has added, or perhaps revealed, in his offensive game so far. He has a beautiful jump shot, a good half hook, and that fall away he pulled on Dirk may just be a sign of things to come. It is commonly said that players need a go-to move. I think Willie is working on 2 or three at a time.

I have been known for hysterical hyperbole in evaluating a rookie's first year but I think Willie is a gold mine and anyone thinking of trading him needs to step back and think about it. At this moment, you would NOT get value back in a trade as he is known as a player limited to defense and put backs. He already is more than that in the real world.

I think it is darn near impossible to compare his offense to his defense. There seem to be hundreds of stats to measure offense and far less to measure defense. Let's just enjoy the ride.

The Kings better be careful.

ONE more Win and we can go from #8 in the draft to #11 and no more draft pick!!!
Even if tied with all 3 of Denver, Milwaulkee, and Orlando, its still a coin flip process that would leave us only a 25% chance of losing the pick. So;

If we go 0-5 = keep pick

If we go 1-4, and Denver, Milwaulkee and Orlando go 0-4, 0-6, and 0-6 (highly unlikely), we would have a 25% of losing the pick.
If we go 1-4 and ANY of Denver, Milwaulkee, or Orlando win at least 1 game, then we keep the pick.

If we go 2-3, and Denver, Milwaulkee and Orlando go 0-4, 0-6, and 0-6 (highly unlikely), we would lose the pick
If we go 2-3, and some or all of Denver. Milwaulkee or Orlando win 1 game, but none win more than 1 game, we have a 25%, 33% or 50% of losing the pick.
If we go 2-3, and ANY of Denver, Milwaulkee or Orlando win 2 or more games (2-2 for Den, 2-4 for Mil or Orlando) then we keep the pick.

We have to see how everybody's tanking goes, but unless we go 3-2 there's a strong chance we keep the pick. Of course with Boogie playing home games, and a final game against a miserably unpredictable Houston team that might have already been eliminated, 3-2 is not out of the question.

I know that the idea of possibly adding another lottery pick is appealing, assuming they make another wise selection as they did with WCS last year, but is it the worst thing in the world to finally be free of the hindrance of continually owing that damn thing?

God, what a horrible "win".

This may well go down in Kings history similar to the useless win near the end of the season that cost them Juaquin Noah, and instead they got Spencer Hawes.

Damn Nuggets and Malone certainly didn;t want to win this game...

hm, how very kings-like to win a game like this at a time when a loss really wouldn't hurt. i haven't watched the kings in a couple of months, truth be told. i've just... lost interest. sports in general aren't anywhere near my radar. of course, this doesn't mean that the kings couldn't win me over again, but it's going to require a much smarter approach than we've seen from this franchise in some time. through the last few seasons, i've very much been of a mind that the team needed to put the tanking behind them and build a winning culture through internal improvement and shrewd free agent signings. the problem is that the last few seasons have been as typically dysfunctional as always, and have resulted in very little improvement in the win/loss column...

unfortunately, the cousins clock is ticking, and frankly, the kings don't have much more time with which to build a winning team around demarcus. they need every asset at their disposal to pull it off, considering just how badly they've squandered the first six years' of demarcus' career. so put me on the "pro-tanking" bandwagon as another disappointing season grinds to a close. i just don't have patience anymore for watching this franchise shoot themselves in the foot time and again. my list of grievances is lengthy, and no amount of hand-wringing about the fans who've paid for tickets to this season's remaining games is going to persuade me that it's a good idea to fritter away a first-rounder in an off-season that absolutely requires across-the-board improvement at every level of this organization...

This is still wrong.

Draft order is NOT assigned by win-loss record when you're in the lottery.

Actually, it is. After the top 3 spots are drawn, the rest of the lottery goes by inverse record.

The Kings ended up tying the Knicks with a 33-49 record during the 2006-2007 season. Had they not won their final game, they would have ended up with the 9th pick rather than 10. Instead, New York ended up with the 9th pick due to some tiebreaker. Chicago ended up with it due to some trade.

Regardless, if the rumors are true that Geoff Petrie was targeting Noah, the Kings would have been able to select him before Chicago -- had they not won their final game.

I am probably totally wrong, but doesn't any team in the lottery have a chance to get those top 3 slots? If that's the case, then winning that last game would have been irrelevant had the Kings garnered one of those slots.

From nba.com:

The first 14 picks in the draft belonged to teams that had missed the playoffs; the order was determined through a lottery. The lottery would determine the three teams that would obtain the first three picks on the draft. The remaining first-round picks and the second-round picks were assigned to teams in reverse order of their win-loss record in the previous season.

That's what I was referring to.
