I am making a slide show for my wife for X-Mas. I will be including slides of our kids growing up and I need a some growing up songs for the background.

Any help will be appreciated.

Jackson Browne's the Pretender

It's not really about growing up, but it's definitely about coming of age and realizing what's really important.

I'm gonna find myself a girl
Who can show me what laughter means
And we'll fill in the missing colors
In each other's paint-by-number dreams
And then we'll put our dark glasses on
And we'll make love until our strength is gone
And when the morning light comes streaming in
We'll get up and do it again

If you want to use new music, as in music that came out the past few months, I recommend..
"Chances" - Five For Fighting
"Someday" - Rob Thomas

The music depends on the message, tone and theme. I'll post my graduation video as an example.

Just to be more clear it will be a slideshow of my son who is only 3-1/2 and eventually I'll do one for my daughter who is 1-1/2.

Thanks for all the ideas. Keep them coming.

Several songs by Bruce Springsteen and John Cougar Mellencamp touch on the "growing up" theme.

Also, if you want a really sappy "growing up" father-daughter song, taken from the father's point of view, try "Butterfly Kisses" by Bob Carlisle, which was a big hit in 1997.

Always considered Lost in the Supermarket as more of a 20 something dealing with life on your own in the big world, but I love love love that song (I guess it certainly was my own post-university theme song for a while). And in the Garage and the White Stripes tune.
