I feel like I've seen these needs before ... maybe the past 3-4 seasons?
I'm starting to think we don't need these specialists types, but just good all around players. These people exist. I've seen them. They are on teams that are in the playoffs. It's crazy.

I made some GIFS out of the videos posted on page one. Enjoy.

**EDIT** I apologize if these are killing your computers. Let me know if you prefer me to just add the link to the .GIF, and not embed the .GIF in the future. I'm almost forgot to add the dunk of the night (year?), even if it was called off.

While in general, I agree with you. We do tend to settle for jumpers far too often. However, last night we scored a bunch of points in the paint, and didn't get many calls. There were several occasions when Cuz just got hammered, and no call. But then, its Cousins. They on the other hand, scored a lot of points on the perimeter, mostly thanks to Reddic and Crawford, both of whom seem to have some sort of target laser device on their ball, which keeps them from missing a shot. Sometimes I think the beginning of a game can set the tone for the Ref's, and Collison was constantly attacking the basket at the beginning, while Vasquez played matador defense.

Not sure what was going on with IT last night. He looked downright lethargic. He displayed no energy at all.
I think it's because Grant and Jerry were playing up Williams and not him. That's cruel, isn't it?

I absolutely did not understand what Redick was doing trying to talk to Cuz. That was not at the end of the game. It's after Cuz dribbled Redick off the floor. I smell mischief a'comin".

All right with me. You can have your Debbie Downers. Our pair is great.
I didn't realize that there was no middle ground between "unrepentant corporate shill" and "Debbie Downer." G-Man sure as hell somehow manages to be one of the best in the business without washing these guys' feet every game; I wonder what his secret is?
I was in no way saying I don't like Grant and Jerry. Just don't go to them if you want a realistic assessment of the team.

I'm on the record as saying I loved the trade. I'll take an excting losing team over a boring losing team. Just ignore the FO. That nonsense about a defensive team is clearly NOT what they are doing. They're going for young, exciting talents. If you're against that, then I don't know what to say. Like the warriors, nuggets, teams that get out and run. MAM is fine if you're in grind it out playoff games. Last I checked, we are not in those type of games. And won't be for years. MAM was only under contract through next season. A complete zero offensively just wasn't going to get it done.

IT fans, brace yourselves. He keeps up his pouting, he's out of here. As the team gets more talented, he will fade further and further into the background. Just one game, I know, but, the last two games are the bad IT, the one that pouts when things arent clicking for him and basically just gives up. He seems to need to have an all pro on the other side to show up. Those first 10 games were a career high hot streak. I'm really not expecting anything like that again. he had a hot start while the rest of his teammates looked half asleep. That has a tendency to make one look a whole lot better than they actually are. As Ben gets more comfortable, hopefully Williams gets comfortable, and GV gets his legs back (I hope) there will be fewer and fewer minutes for IT. T

GV is not, and will not, ever be an even avg defender. Can we focus on what he does do maybe? Play semi competent PG, something we haven't seen in years. I think we will see a lot better from him going forward. Putting high flying talent around him is the way to go for now.

Am I missing something? Was he complaining after the game to the media? I didn't see him pouting on the court? I'm not saying he wasn't, just surprised by it all.

Ok, he was lifeless and disinterested last night . How's that? Looked like a smaller MT with a similar lack of production. He doesn't seem to do well unless the team is down big and he's playing against backups. That could just be my perception. Someone may find some stats that say otherwise.

I didn't see him pouting either. I wasn't watching him too close though, as there were more entertaining things going on.

I like Greivis. He plays hard and you can tell he wants to win. He also likes to set up his teammates which is an essential quality in a PG. I don't see him as the long-term solution, but I'm happy to root for him as long as he wears the Kings uniform. And he played well last night. Couldn't hit the open threes at the end when we needed them, but he was the open man and he took the shots with confidence anyway which is all you can really ask for.

Chubbbs, whether or not you are right in questioning IT's value I think you are absolutely right about his nightly minutes going down. GV will get more minutes like last night as soon as he can physically handle them which may be now.

I think IT's minutes may go down too. Especially if Williams can be a reliable scorer for us. If he can give Cousins some help then there isn't as big of a need to have IT in with Cousins at the end of games to help in that area.

We used to watch them play every night... you know, the last time #10, #13 and #16 were on the court together along with a couple of numbers from the rafters. ;)

It would be much better for a lot of folks if you didn't embed all the gifs. :)

I have to disagree, at least in part. I think what I saw was a bit of frustration that he wasn't out there to join in the fun more than "lifeless and disinterested"...

IIRC it was after the the play when Redick went hard for the board, banged into Cousins and came down really hard. Cousins got called for a loose ball foul. Then it looked like he was just trying to tell Cousins no hard feelings or something along those lines. That's how the body language looked at least .. but hey it is the Clippers, who knows what they're ever up to ;)

It's certainly a fine line ... our team was special, and we shouldn't hang our hopes on ever being able to replicate the chemistry and all around IQ of that team. What's important is that we either find really good all-around players and have to pay them good money, or spend less on more specialist type players (unless you're the Spurs, and you can just draft an international player every year using a second round pick and somehow mold him into whatever you need to him to be). The last time we wanted to acquire all-around good players who could do a little bit of everything we ended up with John Salmons.

Also, can we start a campaign to have G&J refer to their second favourite player John Salmons as Fragrant Fish? That is an awesome nickname. I would go to bed every night, win or lose, with a huge smile on my face listening to them rave about the "Fragrant Fish" instead of the Hustlin' Huskie

The big difference is that "we", in terms of those who actually make the decisions and pay the checks, are much different than "we" used to be. We're still the Sacramento Kings and it's still our team, but there's been a massive shakeup in what's going in the 'process'. It all starts with the owner, and Vivek is a man on a mission. It does appear that he has all his crew on the same page as well.

I'm not saying forget as much as I'm saying it's very reasonable to move on and let go, because it's not the same ole same ole, with the same group making the same mistakes

Yeah, that's why I called it "pouting." Whatever you call it, not his best game and we can leave it at that. He should enjoy his teammate's success but he seems to get wrapped up in what he is or isn't doing. And frankly, he's not the best pg on this roster to be out there with mclemore and Williams. They need a guy who can throw lobs, and set guys up. That's not ITs game. It's going to be tough for him cause he doesn't blend into a team concept well. What he does just doesn't fit with these young guys, who need someone looking out for them. Williams hit mclemore on the break more times in his first game than IT has all season it seems.
