Carmichael Dave did an awesome interview with Boogie at the bowling event.
    Here's the link:

    Topics include:

    - NBA Allstar voting
    - Taking the blame for the loss to the Clippers
    - Growing as a leader
    - being reflective about complaining to the officials
    - Boogie's obsession with making the playoffs
    - Aileen lifting his shirt and touching him when he first came to Sac

I love seeing him being so open and in such a good mood. He's hilarious!

Yet, the very next game, he reverted right back to doing just that. Hypocrite much?

Really enjoyed this. Thanks for sharing it. He touches on what a lot of people assumed in that when in the moment he believes he is right. After watching film many times he admits what a fool he made of himself. Guess he is human after all. His touching on how bad he wants too win and make the playoffs so badly and if he is completely bald by the end of the season we know why was both funny and good to hear. Definitely worth a listen.

I'm not sure he's being a hypocrite as being self aware and working towards improvement. Probably not too easy it is to change a personality trait overnight.

seven seasons and counting for this self-improvement you speak of, but who's counting, ey?

Yes, we must all have flawless character by age 26, and anyone who doesn't must be exiled from society.

There are certain traits in posters on this site that I don't like. They are probably aware of how they are acting, may even try changing, but sometimes it's part of who they are. I don't think we can expect him to ever completely change. Do better at times? absolutely. But just like you probably can't totally help yourself when you write posts to get a rise out of people, he probably can't completely contain his emotions on the fly. I'll take DMC with his flaws and just hope he works to harness them.

I imagine his desire to win and frustrations with how the team has been run/poor treatment from refs doesn't make it easier to fix his self admitted flaws.

    He's an NBA C, not a monk.

Not to be an apologist. Cuz has a ways to go. I'm just glad that he knows that.

well when do we say that hes first past the post ?

I mean that's a subjective concept as it is, when is everyone here happy with his self improvement ?

We will all admit he's improved. Some will say minimally, some will say marginally, some will say in leaps and bounds.

To be honest, i dont care much for it at all. I mean former MVP Derrick Rose just bailed on his team, yeah he had ' family issues' to attend to but does it take much to text and stay in contact. No way in hell or high water does Demarcus do that. Ever.

I'll take Cousins as well with his antics, even if he never changes his ways, however, I'm not a villain because I'd like to see this stop after seven seasons in his career. Do I expect it? no, maybe by the time he is 30 he will get there, who knows. It's up in the air for the moment.

Not sure why you are using Rose as an example, he is a shell of what he used to be and as a former MVP, he has won a fair share of his games.

I'm not saying he is a bad human being for his antics, but since I'm a fan, I have every right to expect better from the franchise player in terms of handling adversity and calls that do not go in his favor, because let's face it...if these last two games are any indication, teams should play Cousins with smaller players and just hack away at him until he proves he can overcome it.

LOL....this is an exact word-for-word quote from DeMarcus: "I LOOK AT VIDEO ALL THE TIME AND I THINK, 'DEMARCUS YOU LOOK STUPID AS poopoo". This is great on two levels (1) it shows degree of self-awareness I did not previously give him credit for and provides hope for improved relationship with refs and emotional control and (2) it gives credence to everything I have been saying about him over 2-3 seasons re: interaction with refs. And slams the door shut on the apologists who defend his every breath. The next time you try to foolishly defend his temper tantrum, you are defending against what the man himself is likely to believe once he watches the replay.

Cousins needs to revert back to his attitude he was developing under Malone. Yes they pulled the rug from under him, but that doesn't mean he should forget the lessons.

Finally made a twitter account (SeanSno) just to vote for him, cuz you can’t spell Demarcus without US!

Players, fans, management, Ailene and Andy will be at the parade... we’re all going to the promised land, while holding hands under a giant G1C rainbow.
Then I'll drop my album :D

Rose has won his fare share of games but it doesnt count for much. He hasnt got a ring and neither does demarcus. I brought up the recent happenings in NY to highlight that at the end of the day Demarcus isnt as bad as half this board makes him out to be. The comparison between Rose and Demarcus is valid from that standpoint. Demarcus leaves it on the floor, Rose pouts and plays the whole passive aggressive card leaving his team empty handed.

Yes teams should play Cousins with small players and just hack away at him but - a) half the teams in this league arent good enough to do that. You play Boogie small and more often then not hes going to get you bad. b) if Boogie can adapt and he will then he becomes truly unguardable, i want them to keep playing him small so it becomes necessary that he adapts. Demarcus full well takes ownership of his average games. This is just a blimp, he will put in the work and get it done.

DeMarcus does his fair share of pouting, that's not a dispute. It's how he handles adversity that will make or break his career in terms of becoming a winner and not just a stats player. I don't question DeMarcus' work ethic, I do question whether he wants to put in any work in the post anymore though, he would much rather take the jumper or take his man off the dribble as the defense waits in the paint for him.

given the way that the game has evolved, i'm not sure this is a bad thing. demarcus stands to draw more fouls by facing up his man than by posting up his man, and he's also shooting a very respectable 38% from 3. personally, i'm not the least bit fond of how the contemporary nba has marginalized a more bruising style of play, but the post-up is simply not the efficient option that it used to be. a cousins three-pointer in a hotly contested fourth quarter is fast becoming a more reliable shot than a cousins post-up under threat of a double- or triple-team.

His antics on the floor is nothing compared to what this franchise has done to Cousins for all these years. And I'm amused he's still remains loyal to the Kings, after all these turmoils.

    This was a hilarious interview.

And VERY comforting to hear that Demarcus realizes (after watching video) how much of an ass he makes of himself.

It means he's not completely delusional, and that there's a chance he can overcome his mental limitations in that area.

Yes, I'm talking about his attitude on the court. Under Malone he was developing a sense of when to temper his emotions
  30. kingsboi

    kingsboi Well-Known Member

I understand what you are saying. His shots won't always drop though and you don't want him to be content with shooting perimeter jump shots, he needs to have a fall back plan. What better way than getting 6-8 points in the paint? and not just based off taking his man off the dribble. I know it seems as if I'm nitpicking, maybe I am...however, smart teams will know how to defend him and go small and play athletic players and then what's he going to do? pull a game like he did versus Miami & Golden State? I hope it's not the norm, that's all.
