Anyone know why the Kings aquired Robin Lopez only to wave him?

It was a financial move.

Milwaukee saved paying the luxury tax on his salary by trading him (instead of waiving him), and they sent us some of the money that they saved, which certainly covers the remainder of his contract plus more.

Both teams have a better bottom line because of the deal.

I could've sworn I saw, on NBA.com, that we were the ones that sent cash considerations, but also acknowledge that it might have just been my mind trying to play an evil trick on me...:p:p:p.

Thanks for correcting me, Sir :).
We got cash to pay the remaining salary plus whatever extra.

I didnt see any changes in the latest CBA, but the Maloof rule they put in was a team can receive $3 mil max per year in cash considerations.

Outside of apron teams, it's 5.15% of the salary cap, so sitting at almost exactly $7M this year.
