Chris Paul versus his old stunt double? If Collison can play Paul like he did Lillard, I like our chances.
Darren played well for them while Paul was out, and as great as Paul is, I can never cheer for him or the Clippers because of his antics. I also agree that we have a solid chance if Collison plays as well as he did tonight, both on offense and defense. I know Cousins always loves playing the Clippers, so I am not worried about him. I wish we could get Deandre Jordan from them somehow. Dreams will be dreams I suppose.

Yes he did, but to us. Apparently whatever happened in preseason didn't count for Malone, because he picked Williams anyway. Kind of odd considering that even if you had cataracts you could still see Omri was playing much much better.
Malone gave Williams EVERY opportunity to prove himself and keep his spot. Omri took it away. Nobody can fault Malone now, especially after tonight's game.

Best play(s) of the game?

I think it was when Cuz was fouled, but it wasn't called. He went back and responded by blocking a shot at the other end and passing it out to Rudy who dished it up to McLemore for a great alley oop.

Definitely not faulting the guy, but Williams had most of last season and this preseason to show Malone his stuff. I thought Omri clearly outplayed Williams in preseason, thus the surprise last game when Williams checked in. I am glad he came to his senses.

I don't know who is at fault but they aren't using some of these guys correctly. Especially poor Reggie. And Williams before casspi can't continue.
It's not who starts, or who comes in first. It's who's out there when the game is on the line. And it was pretty clear tonight that Malone has faith in Casspi. Malone made a comment in the post-game interview that I think was directed at Williams. I'll have to go back and check...

This was a game worth watching. And how many times have we been able to say that in the past few years? Life. Is. Good. (At least for tonight.) ;)

Beautiful game for many of the reasons im sure you've all mentioned already. But, toward the end, i really lit up when i
saw the players huddled around Malone, and paying attention to his every word. Everyone seemed to be engaged, in tune,
and on the same page.

Very very good sign moving forward.

Didn't have time to post during the game, but wow...excellent game. Great coaching job as well, especially with use of the timeouts. Everyone played well. Nik and Ben still really haven't got their shot going, but both played defense about as well as should be expected. Can't wait to see what this team becomes when their shots start falling. Could be a very dangerous squad.

I don't think this is a playoff team or even a .500 team, but there is a ton of potential here.

Clippers are next; might as well make it a hat trick.
If Collison can shutdown Paul too, then I'm officially in his bandwagon. I see that Isaiah Thomas is tearing it up coming off the bench for the Suns... I know that with Thomas' ego it was not going to happen, but imagine if he was willing to come off the bench for us as a our bench sparkplug!

If we had kept IT, we most likely wouldn't have gotten Collison. IT is with the Suns. I personally am ready to move on and not look back.

Holding the Warriors and Blazers each to under 100 points, insane
Defense didn't play poorly in the GS game, but the Warriors helped by missing a lot of shots that they normally knock down. This game, though...defense was probably the best I've seen in recent history. Cuz down the stretch was amazing.

He said he could be our shot blocker. :D

In the post-game interview Malone said the GUYS WHO PLAYED, played great or something like that.

Yeah, that might have been it. I took it to me that the guys who really tried and didn't just take up space on the floor played great, but I admit to a possible bias in that regard. I am just very impressed with how Omri's game has evolved.

I'm with you in this. I think Omri has some real leadership qualities that are very valuable for the second unit. I also like the way he collects his points like he is not overly worried about his stat line..

I think coach was fully aware that Casspi had played better than Williams, but decided to give Derrick one last chance in good faith, in that first game. He failed again to bring any noticeable fire

Williams didn't play at all though so that can't be about him.

Sessions maybe?
Oh snap. I was confused for a moment. I was flashing back to Wednesday night when I was tempted to throw my glowstick at the coach for putting Williams into the game before Omri. My bad. ;)

It's easy to have faith in Casspi when Williams isn't available and that's your only option. Let's see if Malone continues to see the light cause he did state Williams was his guy less than a week ago.

"So right now, Derrick has done a few things and played very well and he's in the best shape that he has ever been in in my eyes," Malone told Sactown Royalty. "So he's a guy that is kind of taking those backup minutes, but I'm going to try to find time to get Omri in the game whether it's at the two, the three or as a stretch four because he definitely brings some of that versatility."- Malone

At least I thought Williams was unavailable. Maybe I'm wrong.

What I like about what I've seen from Omri so far is that what he brings is sustainable. It's hustle, it's attacking the rim, it's crashing boards, giving energy on D and making the smart pass.

Some nights will be better than others but Casspi will give consistent effort. With Williams the inconsistency is maddening. It's all or nothing with him. If his shot isn't falling it isn't as if he rebounds of gives more effort on D - he just fades completely. At this point I view him as little more than an expiring contract.

It wasn't much but some signs of life from McLemore on offense. And both he and Nik have been better than I expected on defense. But for this team to be competitive both are going to have to consistently knock down open threes.

Bonus sidenote: They've improved the "game tracks" at the Arena, which we had been suggesting and asking for. They now play the theme music from the movie "Rudy", when Rudy Gay gets it going. It got the crowd chanting "Rudy, Rudy, Rudy"
