Why does everyone hate the Warriors? (split)

Guilty by association...
Dirty Draymond Green gets away with ****ing murder out there.
This guy could literally slap Adam Silvers mom across the face and somehow the league would find a way to justify it as a basketball move.
they lost the next game anyway...so moot point. Speaking of dirty players, have you ever heard of Dellavedova?

People acting like Warriors started the volume three point shooting trend. Remember the Dantoni era Suns...difference is Warriors are actually good at it and oh they can play defense.

If there's no 3 Pt line, what incentive is it to guard anything beyond the 3Pt line? It's worth the same as a 2 PT shot at the basket. It's a lower percentage shot than a 2 Pt shot. No reason to guard a shot from that distance because most times they will miss it. Just pack the paint and guard the higher percentage shot.

Which would you guard: a 35% 2 pt shot or a 60% 2 pt shot? It won't be pretty watching 10 guys in the paint.
We would see a balancing act of getting as close as possible without a contest, which is fair and makes sense IMO. I doubt NBA teams will pack the paint when NBA-level shooters are raining down long 2 point shot after long 2 point shot. Most of the time NBA players will not miss an open shot. Of course there will be less incentive to guard beyond the 3pt line. But if you're allowing allowing a good shooter to shoot from that range, then that's on you.

There is no hate for the Warriors from my side of town. Hell, I think that fan base has went through their fair share of losing and then some and to be rewarded in the way that they have been after all the loyalty, is something admirable, not worth hating for IMO.

We need to accept the fact that there won't be another team in the league in the present or in the near future that will have two dynamic shooters in the league such as Curry and Klay. That's my opinion of course. How many people hated the Suns? How many people hated the 2011 Mavericks that were strictly a jump shooting team and were so good at jump shooting that season that it netted them their first title.

They're smug, they're hella bandwagoners, and even when we were much better than them, their conceited fans would walk around the Arco concourse chanting "cowwwwww towwwwnn".

Now that they're better than us it is worse.

And I really don't like Steph's body language. I wish to God Karl Malone was in the league right now to slap that mouthpiece into the second row or John Stockton to give him a nice knee in the solar plexus or elbow in the jaw. It just grinds my gears that NOBODY in the NBA will kick his ass. It's like he's Wayne Gretzky or something.

I actually don't mind the rest of the guys as individuals - would love to have most of them on my team - but the fans and Steph, I can't stand em.

"warrior fans, they've always supported their team. They've always packed that arena, even when they were bad."

BS. Thats why when the kings were good we use to send bus load after bus load of fans to oakland to take over that arena. Wasn't hard to pack that arena with kings fans. Pretty easy to get a ticket.

True. For a number of years, Oracle was referred to as Arco West.

I've mentioned it elsewhere but SOMEBODY needs to go out and hit Steph Curry with six HARD fouls just so he knows he's in the NBA. He acts untouchable and for some reason most of the league buys into it. If he's gonna make those stupid long-distance pull-up jumpers anyway, hit him and make him earn all three from the stripe. I'd rather see him have to shoot three times for three points than just continue to get 3 for 1.

Sorry, but Draymond Green's continuing dirty play is anything but moot. It's not about the one hit, it's about the accumulation of dirty tactics ... and the dearth of appropriate punishment doled out by the officials or the NBA.

Indeed. And sadly, Sleep Train was Oracle East the past couple years. THAT (and the fact we could have drafted Curry, Thompson, etc) is why I root against the Warriors. The style of play is a non-issue for me.

I live in the Bay Area and has been a Kings fan since the glory days (J.Will / C.Webb era). Me and my 7yo son attended Dell and Steph Curry Father and Son basketball camp back in 2014 (before they won the Championship) thinking it would be a great experience for my son to meet an NBA player. Steph is actually the first NBA player I met face to face and lucky enough to shake his hand. Looking at him I thought to myself how can this guy be an NBA player, he just looks like one of those regular guys you normally play at local pick-up basketball game..lol. After he signed some autographs for the kids and proceeded to leave the building, my son approached me if he could have one more item signed, his diary notebook. I looked and saw Curry being escorted by group of security guys out of the building and told my son sorry and that it's too late. After seeing my son's sad face, I immediately grabbed his hand and ran after Steph and at least try. The security waved us off but Curry smiled and told them it's ok and went ahead and signed my son's diary. I was shocked and after that day I told myself how can someone not be a fan of Steph Curry. The guy is down to earth, loves his family, and is a good role model for kids like my son. The guy was overlooked, no one thought he'd be an NBA player and has proven everyone by elevating his game and working hard. I've started to follow the Warriors since and hoping for them to win their 2nd title.

Don't really get the OP's title saying everyone hates the Warriors...Also, I don't think the Warriors are ruining the game, they've changed and evolved the game just like the Kings would have done had they won the championship back in 2001. What's ruining the game are guys that flop, flail their hands and snap their head back driving to the basket to earn a free trip to the line. Lol.

The kid is tough though and fun to watch him drain 3 pointers in the face of KD, Davis, Ibaka, Jordan etc. Unlike Cousins who cries a lot and destroys team moral when he doesn't get the call. As soon as I see him complain i turn off the TV or change channel. Wish they trade him this off season and start fresh with Seth and WCS. I actually enjoyed the Kings last 4 games i think where they sat Cousins.

Um, don't know if you noticed but this thread isn't about Cousins...and it's not gonna be.

One thing I have noticed about Curry is he's willing to sacrifice stats for wins game one of the finals was a perfect example of it.

This thread continues to stick around. I don't hate nor dislike the Warriors and I'm sorry they lost the series. They pooped out a little too soon.

Couldn't happen to a more deserving team and fanbase (who all bailed early).

While Reggie Miller is right --- 1 game isn't anything to get too high or too low over -- I think the Warriors are going to have trouble defensively this season. Also, their bench is nowhere near what it was. We'll see how it plays out over 82, but I think they may take a nice step backward.
