USA vs Venezuela

I'm watching the replay. At the beginning the first thing the announcers said is "we have to talk about Boogie Cousins who is the best center on the planet." Couldn't have started any better, not that I am biased.

The game was poorly played by both teams. Go look up the scoreboard and you will get the idea. When the highest scorers have 13 pta for the USA, you know something is bad. Cuz had 7 pts and 12 rebounds. He is by far our best rebounder if not "the best rebounder on the planet" in this style of play and especially when the teams we play suck.

It was not enjoyable but what seemed obvious to me is that if you have Melo and Cuz on the court at he same time, defense, rebounds, and scoring are taken care of. Melo has his reputation of greatness but I like to call him a mini Cuz.

Cuz had 3 TOs on travels some of which were odd but that's OK. He looked like he was going to lose his temper on his last turn over, who wouldn't, but controlled it very nicely. I think that's the first time I have seen him aggravated but it was appropriate as I believe he was aggravated at himself.

For anyone who has watched the national team over the recent years, they have had little use for big men and in fact would save Cuz to play against a Gasol, a super specialist. Now with Jordan and Cuz, the team has two tremendous big guys who play different kinds of games, nut one of which is on the court at all time. Coack K simply has to play his best guys and as much as he might like the national team's version of small ball, Jordan and Cuz have forced their way into the lineup by their immense skill.

Rio has darn near bankrupted itself. Don't get hurt Boogie. Get a hotel a long ways away from the dangerous areas of town.
I'd heard a rumor that both the men's and women's basketball teams have arranged to stay offshore for the Olympics, but I cannot confirm.
