Will check them out some more. I also liked the Hearts' labelmates the Epoxies and the Briefs. Probably actually considered picking the Briefs once or twice.

And it got me thinking about other Portland bands that don't fit into the typical indie-rock mold that I have liked since I came here. Another that sprung to mind is the Soda Pop Kids. Not sure if they are still around.

Another band I left out for small catalog was the Amazing Royal Crowns. Fun punk-influenced rockabilly act from Providence, RI. Essentially sued out of existence by the Royal Crown Revue (more to it than that but fun to have a villain:)), interestingly enough I first encountered both at a Warped tour where they were on the same act a year or two before RCR had their 15 minutes during the swing-revival.

A few that I was considering, although some have already been mentioned:

Steely Dan
Slayer
Run DMC
Twisted Sister
Blink 182
Silverchair
Cypress Hill
Golden Earring
Sum 41
System of a Down
Limp Bizkit (yes, I know...)
Slipknot
Avenged Sevenfold
Ludacris
50 Cent
Swollen Members
Dead Prez
Great Big Sea
Stompin' Tom Connors
Third Eye Blind
Wintersleep
Alexisonfire
The All-American Rejects
Matthew Good Band
American Hi-Fi
The Cure
Dragonforce

That's all I can think of right now, but I'm sure there are more

I wrote up the Descendents at one point then deleted it because I realized all I really wanted was Milo Goes to College. If there's such a thing as a punk rock value pick Bad Religion would be it.

Actually I think I prefer Nerf Herder. But the girl at the gamestop song of his I like. Because it sounds like a Nerf Herder song.

Joy division got drafted.

I'm surprised Nick Drake and Nick Cave didn't get drafted, I expected King Crimson to go too.
My next ten picks would have probably been:
-New York Dolls
-The Exploding Hearts
-Reatards
-The Birthday Party
-Devo
-Richard Hell & The Voidoids
-Reigning Sound
-Butthole Surfers
-Jacobites
-The United States Of America

Great draft everybody!
Now that you mention it, I'm surprised King Crimson didn't get drafted either, as they're the one prog band that it seems cool for hipsters to like.

Motorhead was going to be my next pick if we continued. Other bands I considered were

Suicidal Tendencies
Faith no More
Sex Pistols
Testament
Exodus
Overkill
Velvet Revolver

If I was going to add some obscure bands I was going to take:

Meg & Dia (I think they're not that much obscure now since the second half - Dia - was the first runner up in The Voice)
Wolfgang - they're a band from Philippines who are really good.

This is from their first album, which was a gem:

and this is from their second album, which had a few songs that I like

I saw Faith No More on a top 100 list of one-hit wonders, I disagree with lumping them into that category, but that might be why :)

Then again Men at Work frequently are put into that category on the basis of a song that wasn't even their highest charting track!
