My mom met him around ~1980, Parkinson's was taking over, she was very sad. The picture still hangs on the wall at her old restaurant.
I remember being pretty inspired by him 15 years later when he lit the torch at the Atlanta games. Despite it all you could still see what made him special from time to time. RIP Champ
