Telemachus Prediction Game 2016-17: (Prediction-) Game Over!! See You in a New Thread Next Season

#32
But he didn't post it in this thread for all to see. We shouldn't have to scour other threads, should we?

Post it here or it doesn't count ;)
Well, we don't have to, but it's only fair...

After all - he DID make that prediction where we all could see it (and many did).
So I felt like I couldn't just ignore it.

Remember my suggestion was that -
"...all predictions be made HERE (on the public, open stage of a forum)
and IN ADVANCE (before the game begins)."

"a forum" would imply that any forum and thread in HERE would be "legit" :),
and since I only posted this thread quite late, some of us may have missed it.

For the future, we can decide to limit predictions to this thread (or similiar ones),
because I may not be aware of predictions being made outside it.

What say you? (all)

Yeah, I mean it's your game so your rules, but got to post it in here IMO for it to count.
Nuh - I want it to be OUR game. :)

Let's decide what would be less unfair on this 1st night,
and also set the rules going forward.
(That is if any/most of you liked the prediction game and feel we should go on)

Pretty ambiguous if you ask me. Others would interpret that as meaning in this thread. From my experience in other forums with this type of thing you have to participate in the thread. Either stick to your premise that predictions count anywhere or consider today a trial run. If you go changing rules on a daily basis you're going to drive folks away. Just my thoughts.

It's day 2 (First home game!) in the prediction game

20 of us KF's participated yesterday.

The rankings after day 1 can be found here:

The ideas behind the scoring rules are:
1. You don't just make a binary prediction of W or L. You try and predict the exact score of the game!
2. You don't get an All-or-Nothing score for your prediction. You get points for being close, as well!

A reminder of the exact scoring rules can be found here, -

Scoring Rules:

It's quite simple - you can total up to a 100 points for your prediction:
1. You get 40 pts for predicting the winner.
2. You get up to 30 pts for predicting the point difference of the game (Directional! +10 and -10 is not the same!)
3. You get up to 15 pts for predicting the score of each of the teams (30 pts for both teams together)

As I mentioned - you don't have to get it exactly right to earn points:
The closer you are to the actual score of each team, or to the actual point diff, the more points you get.
If you're not even close (more than 10 points off the mark) - you get nothing.

Here is a chart to sum it all up:

All predictions must be made ON THIS one and only PREDICTION THREAD (a new rule to make things clear)
All predictions must be made IN ADVANCE (before the game's tip-off).

Here's my own prediction for tonight:
Kings - 93
Spurs - 96

Update: Know what? YOLO! I'll go on a limb here and take a silly risk.
I predict a Kings' Win!
Kings - 98
Spurs - 97

Join in - I am quite sure it's going to be fun!

I'm taking the under in the Vegas odds but barely. I would love to be wrong.

Kings 95
Spurs 103

I believe the first back to back against a well rested Spurs team will negate an emotional opening night at the Golden 1 center. Also hoping I am wrong and a loud and reverberating 6th man wills the team to victory!

Kings 90
Spurs 101

Go Kings!

Sorry for summing up late... I fell asleep.

Some spectacular predictions tonight!
@lwc & @LoungeLizard (with an identical prediction) and @gil renard
got rare scores of 90 and 85 respectively.
The former two (with a 95-103 guess) nailed the difference and missed both teams' score by only 1 point.
The latter (with a 94-101 guess) got the Kings' score exactly and missed the Spurs' and the difference by only 1 point.
Great job!

Overall leaders are:
1. @lwc : 140 pts
2. @gil renard : 128 pts
3. @km23 : 109 pts

And keep it going we shall!...

Predictions are ON for game night #3:

with some having great predictions.

Current Scoresheet:

(or in this attachment: View attachment 5799 )

Scoring Rules:

A reminder of the full scoring rules can be found in the following post
(or in this summary attachment: View attachment 5791 )

You can total as much as 100 points for one prediction:
1. You get 40 pts for predicting the winner.
2. You get up to 30 pts for predicting the point difference of the game (directional difference! +10 is not the same as -10!)
3. You get up to 15 pts for predicting the total score of each of the teams (30 pts for both teams together)

You don't have to get it exactly right to earn points:
The closer you are to the actual score of each team, or to the actual point diff, the more points you get.
If you're not even close (more than 8 points off-mark for a team score, more than 10 points off-mark for the difference) - you get nothing.

Here is a chart to sum it all up: View attachment 5791
