Pacers said hes in trade talks, hes on a small deal hes a very good athlete with great size for a sf and played solid while pg13 was out last year. He brings the athletic ability and energy we currently don't really have in the wing position. His shooting is a bit crappy which has held him back and while hes clearly not a franchise changer could be worth a look. Based on the eye test hes a decent defender also.

Not too bad for a backup, we could sub in to defend wing players.
But which Kings player would get the Pacers interested? I wouldn't give up one of our core bench players (DC, Belli, Casspi, KK) for him.
Ben and Willie are more valuable and out of the discussion too.
Really difficult to still make an interesting offer and you might get him on a cheap deal in FA anyway.

And he is far from a finished product. A coach like Karl prefers veterans. I doubt we are interested.

Solly after not playing for ages had a good game changing the game with his slashimg and defense and athletic ability. Once Cj Miles returns he's probably still on the trading block we got any 2nd rounders to offer?

Frank Vogul finally realised the importance of Solomon over the past 10 games which helped push the Pacers into the 7th seed, dude has very solid at both ends and his passing is actually much more impressive than I thought he's quiet nifty he just drilled a career high 7 3's against a fully healthy Bucks team (Greek Freak).

Really want to see him on our team he was a core player last year on a team that won 38 games (more than the Kings have won with way less talent) the dude can play a role at both ends for us next year, the guy is exactly what we need a muscular explosive 6'8 athlete who can defend stretch 4's and 3's and can get out in transition with the best of them while being a glue guy. Sucks he was on the trade block and zero rumours we were after him.

Game one 13 points (10/10 from free throw line).....can't believe they have Glenn Robinson and Budinger playing over him at the start of the year smh.

Bumping this thread as a potential idea

Now obviously with Solo making 12-13million or roughly that per year the situation has really changed and the guy was been pretty dreadful through his own fault and that fact the Pelicans have no 2nd or 3rd option on the squad currently meaning it's a bad fit for him since he's more of a 4th/5th option who plays D and moves the ball and is not capable of actually helping them.

What would Kings fans think if things don't turn around soon doing a Kosta/Casspi for Solomon Hill deal? We can plug in Solo as a undersized 4 (which is where all his success came in the playoffs/late last season) and we can also have him defend the oppositions best wing player or PF (he would have a lot of trouble defending bigger PFs) he gives us a badly needed injection of athletic ability and from what I've watched this year he's still playing for the most part good D.

I think there i s probably better deals for us but might eventually be worth a look it's a shame they paid him so much 7-10 mil per year I could live with but the 12-14 is really a huge risk and is off putting.

I like him a lot. And his contract is on par with Demarre Carrols (actually slightly less). I would guess it's basically market value for a 3&D wing, when you are not the Spurs able to dig out guys like Simmons. Problem is, that his Playoff performance looks like a hot stretch right now.
I guess getting open looks from 3 will be a bit easier, when Holiday makes his return. So I would expect Hill's 3 point percentage to go up a bit.
His D will always be above average. So he won't be useless even if he never gets back to his shooting performance of last years PO. I as a GM would gladly pay Hill 12 million a year, instead of paying Afflalo 12 or Tolliver 8.
DC, Temple, Gay, Hill, DMC would be a heck of a defensive lineup, with Rudy's new found defensive grittyness.

Its really hard after seeing how completely ineffective he has been this year, with that giant contract, to muster much enthusiasm in that direction. If he had a contract half that size, maybe you could ask yourself if you truly believed. But this is a career .403 shooter with a career 10.2 PER being paid more than $1mil for every one of those PER points, being paid like Rudy Gay in fact. A defensive specialist where the opponents score +6.7pts MORE when he's on court this year (part of those messed up A.D. defensive numbers). You really really gotta believe to get tied up into a long term contract with such a player.

He's not worth that salary. As a supposed defensive specialist, he makes way more than Temple who is the guard equivalent of him. Vlade signed Temple to a reasonable contract. NO signed Hill to a bad contract. Just not good enough for that salary.

Temple got payed too. And if you take a look at guys like Harkless or Carroll, so basically defensive specialists, that can guard 1-4 and not 1-3 like Temple, Hills contract really isn't that far out of the line.
Like it or not - guys like Harkless or Hill, who are severely limited as basketball players, do still have value, because of their versatility. In the 90's guys like Greg Ostertag or Shawn Bradley got payed. Today guys like Hill or Carroll get payed. ;)

Your right, defensive guys get paid. I'm just saying that Hill is not worth his contract. Carroll is, Hill hasn't shown that yet.

I think this would actually be a really interesting trade for all sides. Even though Hill doesn't increase our floor spacing nor 3pt shooting, he gives a lot to this team that we lack. He's an elite defender.

I think the Cousins-Koufos experiment has ended. I like Koufos in the backup C role, but I wouldn't mind trading him and Casspi for Hill.
