Trick or treat?
Fans: have been treated.
National Media: tricked for sure. At least for now.
On to the rankings!

As the Kings embark on a five-game, seven-day trip through the Eastern Conference, Ben McLemore will have nightmares about Kawhi Leonard (who he'll see again in a couple of weeks) stealing his lunch. They blew a double-digit, second-half lead to the Spurs in their home opener, but they'll take a 2-1 record with wins over two other West teams -- Phoenix and Minnesota -- trying to climb out of Lotteryville. And maybe Rudy Gay has boosted his trade value by shooting 51 percent and getting to the line 24 times in the first three games.

Two wins, and a tough fight against the Spurs? From this team? Is Dave Joerger a master of Kung Fu? Has he tapped into some sort of primal force in the universe? What is happening?

With all the gaudy numbers flying around from Russell Westbrook, Anthony Davis, Damian Lillard, Kawhi Leonard and James Harden, DeMarcus Cousins has received scant praise for the early groove he's found, which quickly resulted in the 21st game of his career to feature at least 30 points and 15 rebounds. Over the past five seasons, no other player in the NBA has more than nine such games. Cousins, mind you, is also competing with the Kings' sparkly new Golden 1 Center for attention, which raises the bar further.

Good start to the season for Sacramento, going 2-1 with the only loss coming against Kawhi Leonard and the Spurs. But now comes a real test — a five-game road trip through the Eastern Conference. If the Kings fancy themselves a playoff team (and they do), these are the kinds of trips where they need to post a respectable record.

Mean Ranking: Pending, but higher than last week!

Reason #392 why some of us have been lobbying over and over on Boogie's behalf. You simply won't find another player like him. It's all about surrounding him with a capable coach, complimentary talent and a stable front office.

#1 and #3 is looking better by the day. #2 is still a work in progress, but also looks promising. Can't wait to get a shooter and playmaker like Bogdanovic in the mix.
