This one is simple.
Pick your all-time best basketball team.

*15 rounds
12 players
1 Coach
1 Asst. Coach
Last Round: Mandatory Team Description
*Of course (minus round 15), not in that order. If you want to pick your coach and Asst. coach in the first two rounds, go for it!

* Players/coaches are chosen In Their Prime.

* Players/coaches are to be former/current NBA players/coaches only. Also, players eligible for this years NBA draft are available. If you think Griffin or Rubio or Thabeet can be your 12th man, you can pick him.
This rule can be overruled to include all Pro Leagues players/coaches, voice your opinion!

* All contests to be 'played' under the current NBA rules of today.

* Intangibles should be taken into effect by the voter.
---A players leadership, clutchness or lack thereof, volatility, etc. etc. should be considered along with ability.

* Although it is impossible to measure 'chemistry', a team should be able to function as a 'team.'
---For example, having players at every position that *NEED* the ball to be most effective should be frowned upon by voters, and penalized as voter sees fit...The goal is to make the best *team* not just the highest scoring powerhouse of mismatched pieces.

* Once teams are drafted, they will be put into conference/division brackets and fight it out playoff style.
---As of now I'm thinking 4 divisions of 6 teams. I will adjust given how many people sign up. VF21 suggested in my thread last TDOS that this may be a marathon of a draft that goes a long way this offseason, so i will wait and see.

* Being a rookie at starting a draft thread, feel free to critique and suggest new rules, or changes to mine and I will look into changing the rule based on public reaction and personal preference.

Let the signups Commence!

Do they have to be current/former NBA players, or are fictional/overseas/college players allowed?

Same with coaches.

Are there a certain number at each position you have to have? A minimum of one at each position? Or do you care?

I assume you are playing the game "today" - current 3-pt line, NBA rules, etc.

Just trying to think of anything else that may bite you without some definition up front....
Thank you for these!

1: NBA of 'today' rules.
2: The team can be whoever you want it to be.
Remember, the team should resemble a 'team.' If you have a list of 12 PG's, you shouldn't be able to beat a well-rounded 'dream-team' despite the flashy numbers.

3: After some thought Im going to go with current/former NBA player's only.
This ruling can be changed if there is a monster outcry for people wanting all pro-leagues (EuroLeague, Etc.)

**These changes have been added to the original post for easier finding/viewing.

All you guys were in my video game draft last year, and know how slow that went at times. Just a heads up, I think there needs to be some kind of strict rule on timing out, either individually or collectively. I plan to make one if the multiplayer draft goes ahead. (Obviously there's a bit of leeway, just not timeout after timeout after timeout)

That's what I'm here for this year, to move things along:).

Oh ok. I thought you were just organizing them.

In any case, just wanted to let the commissioners know that it might be beneficial to make it a rule so that everybody knows beforehand. Obviously up to them and/or you though.

Although I had expressed interest in this draft, I am not going to find time. I would be timing out too much. :( But, you all have fun. :)

24 people?? How is this gonna work?

I like the idea of 24 people so that we actually get down into the pool of players a bit -- it would be hella boring if it was just a bunch of my Magic/Bird/Havlicek/Kareem/Mailman team vs. your Stockton/Jordan/LeBron/Barkley/Wilt team. But I do think if its going to be 24, some thought has to be given to the length of time between picks. A full day and you could have nearly a month go by between picks (highly unlikely of course, but still the time between picks might cause a falloff in involvement).

Maybe have Pairs of people on the clock each time?

Thats a good idea.
As of now, their will be 2 people on the clock at all times.

Any other suggestions, don't forget to bring them up!
