In a Nutshell ... here's a recap:
Forgive the crudeness .... these are answers, but from the answers the questions are kind of obvious:
Basketball Camp
Bobby – Kenny will show-up at camp - maybe others
3rd year of doing this
Maloof brothers will be there

Nothing new to report on Arena front/issue …. Can’t get discouraged
Running out of ideas
We need a new arena ... not up to NBA standards
Phil Jackson – meet with Phil's agent in LV next week
Proud of Coach Adelman ... he's still the coach
Thoughts of last season:
Good success last 5-6 years
Pretty good job despite trades and injuries
Credits Adelman and Staff
Tired of being knocked out early in playoffs
Improve on defense
Want to win a title – be practical – not enough time to gel
50-win season was good
Looking ahead:
Kings need a shot in the arm .. likes core of Peja-Mike-Brad – likes B-Jax
#1 – must improve defense …. Referenced last 3-teams in the playoffs
Says we have the talent to play D
Is everyone tradeable ??? Is anyone sacred ???
Franchise comes first … we have to get better
Must have a good core with common goals
People have to come to camp in shape
It happened last year … not gonna happen this year

He hardly gave Adelman a ringing endorsement. There were several "but's" and "for now's" regarding coach Adelman when he initially responded to Grant's question about being in contact with Phil Jackson's (agent). Perhaps I was trying too hard to read between the lines but I thought I sensed some reservations on Joe's part concerning Rick. He did later give Rick credit for the past six years and all the 50 win seasons. He also thought that it was a pretty good season when the two major trades were taken into consideration along with all the injuries.
The problem is he said Jeff ... and I don't know what that means.
Is it Geoff Petrie ???

I just listened to the tape again and he says: "I've spoken with Phil Jackson's agent one-time and that's been it" and "Yeah, Gavin and I will be meeting with Jeff/Geoff in the next two weeks in Las Vegas and we'll talk about what our coaching situation is".
This was said while anwering Grant's question of"What's going on with the Phil Jackson rumors/talks."
So, in review .... Joe most likely meant Geoff Petrie ....

The theme is that the Maloofs were happy with the 50 win season and upset about going out the way that they did in the playoffs. J. Maloof said that the team needs to be more defensive minded. Also, that Bibby, Miller and Peja are the core but no one is "untradeable."
Joe said he contacted Jackson's agent and that was about all he said. Joe said that Adelman is the current coach and felt that given the adversity he did a good job last year. He stopped short of really endorsing him and if I were Rick I wouldn't feel to comfortable right now. Could be a good thing though.
