Deadline Deals

That would be a good trade. It would save us a lot of money and ship away an unhappy player. It’d do it (if we could get a second round pick it would be perfect).

Second round pick?!? I've made the case more thoroughly elsewhere, but even their 2018 first round pick would be highway robbery on their part.

Of course, the cause could also be made that the 2018 BRK pick would be highway robbery on our part, but 1) they're the desperate ones, not us, and 2) we could offer protection, or a swap, or something like that to effectively reduce the value of the BRK pick.

(Besides, they don't have a second round pick to trade until Miami's in 2020, or their own in 2021.)

Wojo just reporting Cleveland and Kings still talking trade for Hill with the main players coming back being Frye and Shump
The Kings don't have roster space to do a 1 for 2 trade. They would have to waive someone, send a second player with Hill, or make another trade that brings in fewer players than they send out to make this trade work.

Up until know I have been completely behind the idea of getting as many picks as possible in order to prospect talent but I think we may be getting to the point that more young guys in development and taking up roster spots makes it harder to critically evaluate what the team already has. We are nearing the point where we need to develop the keepers and flip guys that don't fit for more proven guys that do. Assuming the Kings re-sign WCS we open next year with him and 10 guys on rookie deals allong with Z-Bo, KK and Temple and there are your 14 slots, in short there is not a lot of roster space. So to my thinking a trade that nets us cap space and a guard who WILL play defense is ok (we will still have to make room for Shump), but rather than bring in a late first round pick that will take up another roster spot I like the idea of making the easy ask of the option to swap their BK pick if it falls ahead of the Kings to increase the odds of getting the difference maker wee need in the lotto. IN short it seems to be time to think quality not quantity.

It would be a mistake for the Kings to give up Hill and Skal and not get something worthwhile in return.
Agreed, especially if all we are getting in return is Shumpert and Frye. I'd want the Brooklyn pick thrown in there for us to consider a deal. Otherwise stick with our team and look to trade Hill in the off season or during next season. We aren't under pressure of losing either player.

They need us more than we need them.

I disagree with this. I think WCS and Bogdan are better than him. However, I could see Philly trying to go after Buddy or Bogdan. Their 2nd leading scorer is 33 yearold JJ Redick who also happens to be their starting SG. I think Buddy could be a potential answer to their long-term SG and the timeline isn't very far off. Only real problem with Buddy as their starting SG is that a Fultz-Buddy would probably be a defensive liability.

You think WCS is better than Saric? Wow, give me the crap you're smoking.

You think WCS is better than Saric? Wow, give me the poopoo you're smoking.
Yes I do. They play different positions, but I think Willie is better than him. Look at their head to head stats, it's not far off or even far fetched like you make it out to be.

Saric: 30.7mins 13.8pts 6.9rebs 0.3blks 2.7asts 0.7stls on 43.8/36.7/88.5
WCS: 27.2mins 12.5pts 6.8rebs 0.8blks 2.2asts 1stls on 50/0/63

The only thing Saric does better than Willie is shoot. WCS is also a better defensive player than him.

It's weird how some people look at our guys, WCS has been playing well most games yet people grudgingly acknowledge the improvements.....meanwhile, Skal is looked upon as a potential center piece going forward. I like Saric but he's about on the same level as WCS as far as production.....very different players though.

Using this as a guideline on who has picks to trade at deadline, I noticed that Phoenix is stacked with picks. Phoenix also wants a PG and historically shifts between vets and youth.

So that leads to two proposals:

#1
Kings Out/Suns In
George Hill
Papagiannis

Suns Out/Kings In
TJ Warren
Greg Monroe

Kings get a young player at SF who can play some smallball 4. A Rudy Gay type player missing the 3 pt shot. TJ is signed for the next Four Years at around 11mil per. Greg Monroe is bought out and waived since he is an expiring. Sacramento ties up more long term contract money on a player that is somewhat proven and is only 24 years old.

Suns get a vet PG to play along side Devin Booker and a young center prospect.

Why would they? Depends on how much Phoenix wants a PG and is dumb enough to trade for one like George Hill. The Suns do have this odd habit of bringing in vets when they should be playing youth. The Kings turn Hill and Papa into a possible long term solution at SF.

Why not? Suns give up a talented SF for an aging PG. Kings commit more long term money with an unsure future.

#2
Kings Out/Suns In
George Hill

Suns Out/Kings In
Brandon Knight
2018 First Round pick from Miami (protected 1-7, unprotected in 2019)

Why would they? Kings turn Hill into a 2018 pick likely to convey, If not, its unprotected next year. Suns get George Hill and shed Knight's contract.

Why not? Knight's contract, though for less per year, is fully guaranteed all three years. He's also injured and still a PG who would want to play. Suns lose the first rounder from Miami.

Caveat: The Bucks also owe their 2018 pick to Phoenix but with more (odd) protections.

(2018 first round draft pick from Milwaukee
Milwaukee's 1st round pick to Phoenix protected for selections 1-10 and 17-30 in 2018, 1-3 and 17-30 in 2019 and 1-7 in 2020 and unprotected in 2021 [Milwaukee-Phoenix, 11/7/2017])

Hard to tell if the Bucks pick or the Heat pick is the better option.

How does this sound?

Randolph for Asik 2019 top 10 protected.

Asik 2018-2019 salary $11,286,516
Randolph 18-19 salary $12,307,692

Asik can be bought out for 3 million in 19-20

Trade is legal.

Apparently the Magic are exploring the trade market for Aaron Gordon per Michael Scotto/Realm GM (its behind the Athletic's paywall so I can't double check).

If that is true..wow. I'd offer the farm for him. Gordan was one of my favorite prospects coming out already and this season he has made an incredible leap shooting and scoring wise. The new regime in Orlando apparently has second guesses about paying him the Max this offseason.

What would you give up for him? I'm certainly biased.. everyone except Fox is available..

I think I posted this in a wrong thread but ya I’d give up the farm they probably don’t think Issac/Gordon could co exist. I’d offer Buddy-Skal-Richardson-KK
For Gordon and Biyombo

Wcs/Gordon could switch everything at PF/C and would be a terror on the break with Fox

I would look to make a trade or 2 involving our veterans then ship those assets (late picks I'd assume) with Skal and Malachi with an additional couple of 2nds to Orlando.

If it only takes Buddy and Skal I'm calling Orland asap. We have long talked about how Kings need to consolidate their young player and this deal would do exactly that . I think it would take at least Buddy+Wcs though.

I don't think that's enough for him. Especially since you're not including our draft pick. It would be Skal+late 1sts for Gordon? Malachi has no value.
