Tankathon in effect? Joerger says 2 vets will rest each game (split)

Not Hammer but I think he meant that if we did actually land the pick it would be the first time in decades. Which is true. 4 decades if you like to measure semantically. Still 29 years either way. Longer than many fans here have followed the team.
You can be if you want. I'll give you my password and everything. Anything to spice up this boring season. Door's open. The key is balancing the bombasticism and ruthless verbal takedowns with self deprecating humor and questionable basketball knowledge.

Draft observations related to Tankathon, looking at these draft choices at first impression, unfortunately there doesn't look like a clear-cut best player this draft. Sifting - maybe Young, Ayton, or Porter. Its going to be one of those 20/20 look-backs in 5 years, and the best player may bubble up - who knows. Wasn't that impressed with Doncic or Bagley highlights I saw. Taking Fox this year makes drafting a PG a redundant position for the Kings in Young. Porter fits SF best as a position of need for Kings. If the Kings dont make the first pick, Porter seems logical at picks 2 through 4. Jackson hasn't worked too well at SF. Porter'll start immediately and seems to be pretty unselfish with the ball, and can shoot well too from the highlights. Dribbles well for his size and uses his left. Much beefier and athletic looking than Jackson. I need to watch much more highlights of other picks down the line....

Why weren’t you impressed?

Doncic is the best pick and roll player to come into the draft in a decade I really cannot think of a better one. He’s a great rebounder, high IQ, and good motor.

Bagley is dominating college ball and his jumper doesn’t look broken. He’s extremely quick and explosive and he’s pretty good in the post with hook shots and spin moves.

Just curious are most people seeing highlights of him or actually watching him play on TV? I've only caught one replay of his game on NBA TV, I'd like to see more. His athleticism really scares me. Kings need a real game changer with this pick. Right now to me Doncic looks like a nice player that can definetly contribute but I think guys like Ayton, Bagley and maybe even Porter ( depending on injury concerns) are higher caliber prospects then Doncic

His athleticism is a concern. He is routinely the cause of broken defensive fronts just because he physically can't stay in front of many faster players. On the other side of the coin though he is a ridiculously good passer for a 2 guard and can pretty much score from wherever. I've only caught 3 of his games, courtesy of Reddit, but he looks a gem TBH. Some of the passes and plays he makes are crazy when you realize he is only 18 years old. Not sure what his ceiling is, but I think it's up there with those other guys.

I’ve seen 2 of his games and his command and control of his game is elite. Looking at your user nane I’d guess you know a lot about s player who squashed questions about his athleticism in Jayson Tatum

This is what Dragic had to say about him...

Goran Dragic said:
That's what I cannot figure out for myself, too, He's got a great instinct to be a point guard but there's the quickness factor. I think position 2, he can play that. Like Harden. Not the same exact game but that type of position playing with or without the ball.

It's really hard to explain, even in practice, Luka doesn't look fast but he is fast. I don't know to describe it, maybe because of his size he looks slow but he is not slow. OK, he's not super quick but he has that first step that if he gets the angle on you, it's really tough to defend him. He really uses his body well. I think in the NBA maybe it's going to be easier for him, especially on offense, because there aren't so many guys in the paint. Three-second rule and everything. He's going to have more space in the offense, to create for his shot, for somebody else, and I'm looking forward to seeing that.

Thanks for posting, when I get some time I'll be sure to watch.

What are your thoughts on Doncic? Sorry if you posted them before I may have missed it. Seems like you have seen him more than most. Do you think he can be the number one scoring option on a good playoff team?

To those of you who really have a good read on the top 4 prospects:

Which one or two have the greatest bust potential? I mean I really really really don't want to come out of that draft with Greg Oden.

I haven't posted them here, but to me, he is Ginobili 2.0.

If you have seen or watched young Ginobili highlights from the Olympics 2004 or even before the NBA, Doncic really reminds me of him.

Manu's signature move in Europe was behind the back dribble, Doncic signature move in Europe is his little step back...

Manu in Europe was more creative around the basket, but Doncic has already solid post game which Manu didn't have in Europe or even in the NBA tbh.

To me, Manu was more of a scorer in Europe, but Doncic more of a pass-first guy, but if he is feeling it he will let it fly.

I still don't know if he can be the number one option, but he is doing a pretty good job as a number one guy in one of the best teams in Europe this season.

To be honest this years top 4 are pretty safe floors and high ceilings

Doncic: at the very beast he’s a great pick and roll player and a good shooter. Let’s say he’s not athletic enough like they say his weakness is that just means he wouldn’t be a go to scorer in 1 on 1. He still proved he can get by bigs and creat shots when he has a mismatch. I’d say floor would be 15ppg-5apg

Ayton: his weakness before the year was motor and defense and he likes the perimeter game a lot. He’s still a great rebounder and good man to man defender and he can still get post points. I’d say his floor is a decent post up big whose elite in pick and role with average defense. 12-10 type of guy who can still give you some low post scoring.

Bagley: his weakness is allegedly not having a go to move, mediocre defense, and length. He’d still be an elite rebounder with high a motor and elite pick and roll player and a mediocre defender. I think no matter what he’s a double double guy if he never gets a jumper he’d still provide some post scoring (he’s very good with his hooks) and scoring in pick and roll

Hall of Famer
So you guys seriously expect/want the Kings to lose every single game between now and the end of the year? The occasional win gives our young players a reason to stay engaged, to keep trying to get better. Nobody likes to lose all the time. Nobody.
I'm more annoyed that it was Temple going nuclear getting us the win.

If it was Skal or Fox or Buddy dropping 30, I'd have no issue with the W.

But yeah, I'd be perfectly happy without another win this year. I want that top 5.

And before you put me on your ignore list, I'm just about lins this year, the last where record has a huge effect on lotto odds. I'll be back to rooting for wins like a normal person next season, don't worry!

I'd never put you on my ignore list. ;)

I know people are about lins, and I try and keep in mind that at the end of the day we're all still Kings fans (or at least most of us) or we wouldn't still be here.

Garrett Temple is well liked by the team, the front office, the coaches and the fans. He works hard, he is an asset in the community and he is a great mentor to the kids. He had a career night last night - you could tell it surprised him as much as anybody. The whole team was celebrating with him, enjoying his success and very glad it came in a win because we all know career nights are poo-pooed if they come in a loss.

I'm glad they won last night and I'm well aware it's not gonna happen a lot. BUT if they win again, and we've seen a significant amount of production by the kids, I'm gonna celebrate that too.

It has to be about MORE than just the draft pick. It really does. The whole picture is much bigger than one rookie - we ain't getting a Lebron James.
