[Grades] Grades/Postgame Discussion vs Timberwolves 12/14

Two members of the youth movement playing "decently" and vets upping trade value (assuming the FO even wants to trade them, which is a long shot) is a tough sell.

We're heading towards a pick in the 5-8 range, instead of the 1-5 range, and none of the kids on the roster are really flashing allstar potential, much less franchise player potential.... it's tough to get psyched right now.

I'm still gonna hang on and follow the team, but it's more outta habit than enthusiasm at this point. I'm passed out in the back of the bandwagon. Wake me up when we get there.

I'm kind of seeing this thought throughout this site, but I don't see how anyone can make that distinction when none of the kids have control of the offense. We're basically back to the old days of the "Boogie offense" where we dump it down to ZBO and let him ISO and go from there. And add to the fact that basically none of our young guys core fits with ZBO's old man, slow as hell, grind it out game; it's pretty easy to see why no one but Buddy has flashed major potential. Now with Hill rebounding to who he normally is as well, he's taking even more offensive responsibility off the youngin's

Until he's gone and we see Buddy/Bogdan/Fox/Mason/WCS take the wheel, we can't really make any determinations about the young core. Even still... we're only 28 games into the year... not the biggest sample.

Something interesting though:

Fox: 23.8% AST rate
Bogdan: 14.4% AST rate
WCS: 14.4% AST rate
Buddy: 11.1% AST rate
Mason: 26.7% AST rate

There's potential to have a very good passing team here that's not all about the ZBO show.

Zbo's contract is not immoveable. Playoff teams who see an opportunity for a deep playoff run and want a guy off the bench to,score would not be hesitant to get him if they needed that interior scoring.

Hill, I'm confidant, is still seen as a guard who can defend at a high level, not hurt the team and score when he is a 3rd option. In the right situation, he also is a moveable piece. We might have to attach a 2nd rounder or a Malachi to the deal but that is also dependent on playoff teams and needs. Zbo is certainly easier to move though.
The obvious candidate would be Boston. Able to make a deep play-off run, need scoring off the bench particularly post scoring. And good luck finding anyone who thinks ZBo would work at his 11M contract amount. No way to make the contracts work.

Of course if we're dealing with Boston, you gotta take the GM matchup into account.

I can't help but feel that Ainge would end up with OUR draft picks in a Z-bo trade. Dude is a savage.

Ainge owes us. We let him go when he asked to be let go. We didn’t have to. And he’s yet to pay us back for the courtesy. That ought to be worth... somethin’.

On a team that has Butler/Wiggins/Gibson could have really used Sampson tonight but playing Temple/Carter is far more important at this stage.......

WCS went back to trying to be DMC tonight instead of playing his garbage man role.
Sampson isn't on the road trip. It's not about Temple/Carter getting more play; it's about the 45 day ceiling for JaKarr.

Don't hold your breath. ;) Over the years, Danny Ainge has done everything he possibly can to erase all thoughts of Sacramento from his memory. And, for me, the feeling is mutual.
