[Game] Kings v. Suns - Tuesday, Dec. 12 - 7 PT

#97
I really like playing Bogdanovic at the 4 and still handling the ball. Great spacing. Immediately gets us a layup and an open 3. Good defense. 5 point swing. If Kings win this game dont lok further than this sequence.
Bogdan is imo the best playmaker on the team....love his effort and savvy. And they nabbed him from the Suns.
The Kings have sort of stolen away the game it appears in the end.

His game is suited to the NBA on both ends. I think he's got NBA all defensive team potential. He's also been playing PF for the last few minutes and his screens are better then most true bigs, lol.

I missed the 2nd, 3rd and 3/4 of the 4th can someone give me an accurate but snarky run down of what happened?
Kings were hungrier and Suns appeared at times to already be thinking about the flight out of town. Darth Vader must have left the building because the atmosphere became more electric and the fans got into it. Our guys were smarter than the Suns.

Both teams looked semi sloppy throughout and neither really seized control of game until Joerger went with Mason,Hill, Buddy, Bogi, Zbo lineup in the 4th. Don't know how often you can go to that kind of lineup but I like how those guys fit together skillwise.

Didn't get to watch the game, how did Fox fair on defense? I remember Mike James kinda lit him up last time we played them.. then I see he had a big game again.

I wasn't paying real close attention to his defensive matchups but I felt like he was on Ulis most the night. Seemed like Mason was on James more than Fox ever was.

On offense in the first half, he just dribbled the ball up the court and threw it to ZBo immediately on 90% of his possessions.

If Fox is just going to be out there to pass the ball, then he may as well come off the bench and have Mason start to be honest.
I dont think this is on Fox. No space to drive with the starters. Focal point of the offense seems to be Zbo and Skal. Fox is not a floor spacer like Hill, so he is basically wasted in this lineup with this kind of offensive approach. And he doesnt learn how to be a pg on offense like that.

Totally agree. I think Joerger is making it way to complicated on offense. I think that most of the time, we should just go four-out with either Zbo/Wcs/Skal at the 5, setting high screens for either Fox/Mason/Bogdanovic handling the ball and then have Buddy/Hill/Temple spotting up or cutting .

Nearly ever time Kings run such lineups, the results are great. Worked great again tonight. I really wouldnt mind finding a trade partner for Kosta just to clear our logjam at the 5.

And its not like you cant get creative playing here. Just watch how the Celtics play. Dribble hand-off, give and go, high screen. Its beautiful.

This was an interesting, and overall a very sloppy, game to watch on many levels.....That stretch in the 2nd quarter when the Suns went on a 3 point shooting spree got me worried. I actually, legitimately, thought that we were going to get run out of our own house at that point. Especially after the Suns couldn't make diddly-poo from behind the arc in the 1st quarter. Individually, we had some nice runs out there. Man, WCS has been somewhat pleasant to watch. It's almost like he has decided to turn on a whole new switch in him, and it's showing on the court. The rooks.....I don't even know if we can praise them enough. Z-Bo was money tonight; their bigs couldn't do much to stop him. I can't recall during which part of the game this was, but that one play where he posted and basically muscled his way through the defender and got himself an easy layup was absolutely money.

On a team level, though, we need to not play down to our competition. I honestly believe that, both on the court and on paper, we are significantly better than the Suns. Throughout most of the game tonight, IMHO, I felt like we were playing down to their level more than anything. We need to fix that.

Oh, and Buddy Buckets was great; he was fun to watch tonight!!!

I don't know about all-defensive team, but he does not lack in defensive effort. He is a complete player who seems to be improving. You notice when he's not shooting well he's fairly active in other areas.

The team just might be able to make it closer to my original predictions. If Hield can score consistently, that's a big deal for the team.

My post didn't indicate that it's on Fox, but with the way Fox is being used and/or lacking aggression, he is better off playing less because he is a spectator out there and nothing more. It's clear that Mason's strengths are being taken advantage of while the opposite is happening with Fox and that isn't ALL Joerger's fault, Fox is 19 years old and he simply may be lacking to grasp the playbook at this point in time, which is to be expected.

If they continue to his him for his defensive versatility I think coaches will recognize his value on that end. That's like gold in todays league of switch necessary defensive schemes.
