George Hill is mad. (Twitter)

Anyone can just make up “personal reasons” is the issue. I had personal reasons for skipping all that high school.. At least some vague explanation is owed to the employers/fans.. I also think it’s funny timing with December 15 coming up and his tweet
NO. You cannot just make up personal reasons. There's a big fricking difference between what you may have done in high school and what is required of someone in a grown-up world working for a multi-billion dollar corporation (the NBA) and earning millions of dollars. I'm sure the Kings are aware of what's going on. George Hill owes the fans NO EXPLANATION AT ALL.

What are you saying, VF21, he has a family member with advanced stage cancer?
NO. I am specifically NOT saying that because I do not know. What I've read on a couple of board does lead me to believe it might be something regarding a serious illness of a close family member but AGAIN - I do not know for sure. I was merely pointing out that your comment could end up being tragically not very far from what could be the truth.

Vlade spent like 40M this season on free agents (12M Z-Bo, 20 M Hill, 7M Carter) so if this season was NOT about wins, that was quite a waste of money.

Many fans on this board including myself were practically begging for Jonathan Simmons who could have been had for for 3/18 or slightly more.

As well as Z-Bo as played , I would trade Simmons and cap space (30 to 35M) in exchange for all three signings in a heartbeat.

That cap space could easily retrieve a nice asset or first round pick heading into the trade deadline. And Simmons would be our best wing player and quite the complement to our youth.

I have said this before: Vlade and company may very well stumble onto success. But it won't be because they took the most direct route.
We had to spend money to get players right? Why not get players who would only be around for a year or two AND would mentor our kids? Randolph and Carter both bring incredible amounts of knowledge and experience to the team. I think there's a value there that isn't easily quantified.

As far as what we're paying George Hill, I won't even try to hazard a guess because I have no idea why he was brought here. I think it's safe to say, however, that whatever he was brought he for is not what we're getting.

I thought I heard Kayte say in the pregame the other night that Hill's previous personal time off was due to a death in the family. A death in the family can be a traumatic event, if that is the case, who knows how it has affected Hill or someone close to him.

Sam amick on Carmichael daves show.

He said that this Utah article is probably hills middle men talking to the Utah reporter, telling him what George thinks. His middle men are giving George political protection. George can say what he thinks and still say that he is not upset.
Amick also said it's about what was promised by the front office. Sure the vets should know what they are getting into by coming here but what did the FO promise them.
This FO can't be stupid enough to be promising vet FA's certain things and it be on the same page with the coach could they?
This kinda smells like how the previous kings FO screwed over Rudy Gay.

To be fair, Malone got the toss right after the extension for Rudy.

Again, if Hill has played to expectations IMO the Kings would be in the 8th seed conversation. It’s all on him either way

No there are no similarities between the two. I think it's dirty politics from hills camp (if there are any sources at all). It could also be another pathetic hit peice from a lazy or paid off writer. What I know for sure is Hill hasn't been bringing it every night and it could be those personal reasons or maybe hes just a bad fit.

Well said! Unfortunately, those who already have their minds made up will not hear you. They only hear what reinforces what they already believe.
I’m not sure that’s a fair comment. I asked for one team that is the model of said strategy and we could discuss it. In the past 50 years who has employed it?

You could be right. Either way he hasn't produced. I hope we deal him but the way he's playing and his contract will be a huge hinderance.

Hill has only indicated that those “personal issues” are back home. He has no siblings, so it's likely an issue with parents or grandparents. George passed on going to a top college so he could be home, closer to his great-grandfather. When his great-grandfather died, Hill could have moved on to a top college. But he stayed at IUPUI because he had given them his word. That should tell you something about who George Hill is.

Unlike some here, I put no stock in that article. It offers no substance to an intelligent person. He may or may not be happy here. So f-n what?!

I believe the article, no reason not to. The guy that reported it seems legit, Wojo and Aldridge follow him as well as others in the NBA. Hes a beat reporter for the Jazz so I think it's safe to assume he has a relationship with Hill or his camp.

Anybody have any theroies why this writer would randomly make this up? Any reasons not to believe him that I'm not aware of? Seems like if Hill is unhappy then this would be the perfect source to leak it to.

I don't usually see reporters name sources and in this case would you expect the writer to say his sources are Hill or Hills camp?

It's funny a lot of posters here will put blinders on when it comes to any bad news about the Kings. If you really think about it Vlade is the one with a track record of lieing.

Vlade didn't lie he did his job as a gm. Besides the DMC extension was based on him showing that he can be counted on to be professional on and off the court which he did not. Nobody has blinders on remember kings fans have been put through the ringer more than any other nba team and with that we have developed the ability to sniff out the B.S. Hill probably is unhappy but we didn't change course or promise him anything unrealistic which is what the article claims. The Kings have 9 rookies and sophomores you think any team like that is going to compete for the playoffs lol NO.

Maybe you're right. I hope someone in the Kings media askes him about the story

There's a huge difference between not tanking and making the playoffs.

Do you think Joeger is playing to lose? Isn't that one of the complaints against him, he plays his vets too much? And that could cause unnecessary wins. That is not tanking.

I don't think Hill is so dumb as to think the team was a playoff team. Hill quite simply may have thought he could handle the situation and then life happened.

Ever go into a situation with good intentions and outside things drain the life out of you? It sucks but these grown rich men are still human with the same range of emotions that you and I have.

This looks like taking a few truths and making an entire story out of them. What's the saying, a part truth is a whole lie or something like that?

Hamm was on J. Ross Locked on Podcast and said Hill has had two very serious issues with family and that anyone would be gone to take care of those issues. I don't think we need to speculate. It's just basketball, he's just a basketball player playing for a team that if he misses a game or two isn't really going to affect anything.

crap, I have to cancel appointments when my kids gets super sick. I've never had someone not be understanding. Why we don't apply those same things to sports players is beyond me. Just because they make a ton of money somehow they don't also have things happen that requires them to take some time off. It's an asinine though process.

None of that has anything to do with he is actually upset or not. I'm sure the truth is somewhere in the middle. But one thing that cannot be denied is that the public sentiment, since the summer has been young players will play, wins and losses are not the measure of success for this season and players will probably be playing 20-30MPG. Guess what:

What expectations though? He's probably right near his historic play compared to the minutes he's getting. Do you really expect him to duplicate what he did in Utah playing less time with less shots?

If they think they can make the 8th seed, number one that's a problem right there, but if they really think they can then they need to start using a real NBA rotation, not this every other night platoon crap. Play Hill like a real starter. Squeak out 10 more MPG for Randolph. Play Temple 35 a night. Kosta should be playing more as well. I can tell you though, they might make the playoff hunt, but in the end it will lift this franchise as much as beating the Cavs last year with Cuz did. Or beating the Warriors. It's a flash in the pan and in the end means nothing because most of what's making that happen are not long term fixes. The Kings fatal flaw has been taking the short term view when the entire idea pitched was long term. The long term payoff is in the other players on the team. I just wish for once the Kings would take their head out of the sand and use some freaking logic. History is right there, this isn't rocket science, the path laid has been laid time and time again. No need to get overly creative to justify some sort of desire to be considered a genius.

at this point, I don't even care if it's true or not. I'm ready to dump that contract for a 2nd round pick. he does nothing except take away PT for Fox and Mason.

horrible contract and horrible signing. another questionable move by Vlade...to the surprise of no one.
I know you know this, but you don't just dump a 19 million dollar contract. Unfortunately!

The reason I question the article is because of thr narrative they are trying to sell. Vlade was publicly saying this season was about developing the young players as early as the draft. It is hard to say one thing in public while privately selling something else to FAs.

To me this whole discussion needs to be in the strategy thread. Kings fans can’t blame Vlade for what happened 5 years ago but they can blame him for poor and inconsistent strategy execution.

That’s my biggest concern I can’t follow the strategy. Is it to make the playoffs? With what roster is that possible. Is it to tank? Why are we playing Randolph 34 minutes a game and why ditch vets who wanted to help the team grow for ones who wanted to make the play-offs.

This team can’t get on the same page to save their soul and that starts with Vivac and follows to Vlade.
This is nonsense! Vlade and Joerger have been quite clear about what this season is about. If you would rather believe that ridiculous article, then that's on you.

There are a lot of reasons why a writer might make up a story, seems to be common practice of late. Obviously you have some sort of ax to grind with Vlade and choose to believe the writer. The problem is, all anyone had to do, and that includes George Hill, was read the local newspaper last summer and they, or he, would have know what the objectives of the team were. I knew!!!!! And most if not all of the members of this forum knew. It was discussed at length on this very forum. Not many people on this forum thought this current team would make the playoffs, and that's not rocket science.

When I first read this article, I thought no one would believe this. Boy was I wrong!

Joerger came out several times saying that this is a 3 year process that its impossible to win with so many young guys....9 1st and 2nd year guys makes it difficult. There was no hiding from this fact. Everybody knew it.

No vet in his right mind would think otherwise about what kind of season this was going to be.

I'm telling you...I think there is lingering feelings going back to the Karl/Cousins arguments on here. That is my interpretation but maybe I'm wrong except when people want to believe in made up facts.

You can believe what you want, I have no ax to grind with Vlade or hill.

Vlade said last Feb the Kings will make the playoffs in the 18-19 season, Hill's contract is for 3 years with a buyout after the second year. Since he said that why wouldn't Hill think that this team would be more competitive while he's here? You don't think Vlade shared that plan? Do you believe Vlade? Why shouldn't Hill? I've never heard of a veteran player making 20mil a season sign for multiple years and not talk about the future

BTW I don't link this article with his missed games, two separate issues

I think they were paying 20 mil for a 15-20 ppg rock type of a guard with sufficient presence

If they received that I think the Kings would’ve been in the 8th seed mix. A lot of close games.. West isn’t too deep

Once again, how he is going to be that type of guard playing in the role he is? If he were able to average those kind of numbers shooting sub 10 shots a game in sub 25 mpg he'd be one of the most prolific scorers in the leauge, which he isn't, never was, nor will he ever be. He's good at what he is, a solid 2 way player that can rise at times, but he is what he is.

Beyond that here's where the real issue comes in. George Hill on his best day as a talent should not even come close to matching the potential Fox has. So where is the better investment made in those shots and experience? My initial fear with the signing was that was what the brought him in to be, a 20 ppg player. If that was the idea then they have no idea how to build a real cohesiverebuilding situation then. I think Vlade has more smarts than that.
