Grades?

I also value the grades thread and don’t see it as dependent on Brick. If one person can take responsibility for starting the thread so it is available immediately after every game, I think that will be great. I’d also like to encourage Tetsujin to give it his colorful handle, as often as he can manage. Same goes for anyone else who wants to contribute a columnesque piece to each thread. But I ask for one favor. Please don’t discourage anyone from contributing! I once posted in a grades thread before Brick got to the task and was lectured by a few people that I should always allow Brick to go first. Hail Brick.
I'll make sure the game thread AND grade thread are started timely, unforeseen circumstances notwithstanding. :)

Great thread!

I seldom post but have been a regular lurker for well over twenty years and I greatly appreciate the site and all the contributors who make it my go-to Kings information site.

Old timers may remember me as Fukinagashi (not vulgar) or Literati. I took part in several basketball victories against Kingstalk when we used to play actual games against them. Good memories.

Having said all that I would like to say a sincere thank you to VF21 for always being a presence of positivity and the glue that holds this place together.
Brick? Come back dude. No hard feelings. You were a great if a bit pompous contributor, well appreciated and in two years you will wish you never left!
Tetsujin, thanks for staying up late to do any grades. Your stuff is the best and funniest bar none!
Bajaden, love you man. Keep contributing.

There are many others but I won’t try to name them all.

So excited to see this team grow. Have not felt this way since 1998.

I’m a little drunk, lol. Goodnight ya’ll and go Kings!!

Okay, enough is enough. The thread isn't about Bricklayer and it certainly isn't right for people to take potshots at him now that he's gone. I wouldn't allow you to do it to any other member so I don't think it's right to do so now. Could we just talk about the future of the Grades thread? Thanks.

well when you start a grades thread. Bricks name is gonna get thrown around alot. He started them. To be honest i read them when it was just him doing the grading. when it started being other people it got lame. Id like to vote on one single person to do them and not a joint deal. people should put their name in for the grading and let the board vote on it.

OK, here's my two cents. I don't think anyone realizes, other than those that participated to some extent, the work that Bricky did. After years of doing the game thread by himself, which I have no idea how he did it, he contacted me and asked if I could just help with a few of the grades. I accepted, and quickly realized how much work went into it. Many times I was up till 2 or 3 am just putting together my grades, and I was just grading four players at that time with Bricky doing the rest.

For the last couple of years it was expanded with more people, who all did a very good job in my opinion. The problem is, not knowing for sure who can participate and who can't on a given night. It's sort of like having a bowling team and one member doesn't show up. The show still has to go on. The one constant was Bricky. He always picked up the slack. My point is, if your going to volunteer, realize the commitment your making. That said, if the Capt volunteers, I will. How's that for throwing down the gauntlet.

OK, just kidding Capt, I won't put pressure on you. I'm willing to do a player for every game, except the Laker games, which are blacked out where I'am, unless the game is on national TV. There has to be one person in charge of this operation, and there has to be a separate forum available to only those people participating. That means the person in charge probably needs to be a Mod. Someone that can move posts around when the product is finished. When you find a person (Mod) crazy enough to take that on, let me know.

I think having rotating graders who do a whole game would be easier than having a group of graders every game. The latter means still having one person coordinating the group each time, averaging/aggregating grades, etc.

And Baja is right. Whether you tended to agree or disagree with him, Bricklayer put a LOT of work and time into the grades and this site in general.

Just my $0.02

I didn’t think it ever got lame. I appreciate the effort that so many people put into it, first and foremost, Brick.
Sorry to anyone I may have offended with my “Brick Groupies” remark. That was insensitive of me.

Yep, win or lose Bricky was always committed to keep the grades going. Sometimes I even wondered if he had a job.
I love his grades, especially his take on Boogie, hilarious.

What’s up with this??
I can see passing on a grades thread after we’ve been thoroughly trounced by baby hawks, but otherwise I’d like to have some sort of a postgame thread (with or without grades) to discuss the game and it’s players.
The game thread is fine for those who want to watch the game together. But it’s not a substitute for a dedicated POSTGAME thread.
Just my opinion.

If you don't see one around an hour or two after the game feel free to start one by yourself. I'd love to do it but, as I've unfortunately found out, Kings games don't exactly align themselves well with the Japanese working day and I've been swamped for the last month or so as I was afraid I'd be.

Appreciate the work you've done, I know it takes up a lot of time, I know I don't have time for it, plus, being on the east coast I DVR the games and watch most of them a day later. I do enjoy the grades, however.

You can certainly start a post-game thread. Or a pre-game thread. Or a game thread. I'm very sorry I haven't been as active on here as I would truly like to be, but ... life. Sometimes health and other issues just have to take precedence. :(

I hope everything is ok. If I happen upon the board after a game and there is no postgamr thread up I would be happy to toss one up.

I'm not sure how forums work but I like to check out the grades thread right after the game because the thoughts are still fresh in my mind.

So if I started the grades thread but Tet or someone was planning on doing a full write up, would you be able to edit the thread so their post goes to the top or does it kind of take the top spot away from them? I'd rather whoever wrote the best grades summary to be up top for viewing purposes but it's probably better not to miss out on some post game discussion if everyone is waiting on someone else to create it.

If we merge threads the posts go in chronological order. But don't let that stop you. If someone comes in later with a good grades post, it will be seen.
