Kings/Joeger treating Fox badly?

Seriously

This guy, for Sacramento especially is a once in a generation PERSONALITY from a charisma standpoint. They should be doing everything they can to cater to his game and turn him into a SUPERSTAR. But look at the way Joeger answers this question about Fox..

Refuses to even talk about Fox when asked directly about it and then gives a small (almost) backhanded compliment about him at the end simply saying but he'll be a good player. Hell, Seth Curry is a good player. A bit of a reach but c'mon let's be serious.

And this is not the first time I've seen Joerger treat Fox as if he is just another decent rookie smh

This is NOT how you develop your STAR.

Did John Wall come off the bench for the worlds most mediocre PG his rookie year? Westbrook? D-Rose?... Lonzo??? Hell no.

They treated those guys like gold and catered to their games. This isn't '96... When you draft a lottery prospect who you plan to be a franchise cornerstone YOU START HIM AND BUILD HIS EGO.

We are potentially destroying his own self expectations in the NBA by doing this. Confidence can never hurt a basketball player. The Lakers draft Lonzo and Magic (lying out his ass) says "please don't break all my records" "see your jersey in the rafters" etc. Starts him from day one. This is a kid who Fox regularly torched. He gets killed by Beverly. They don't care they still just praise him and make excuses for him until his confidence and his game catches rhythm and then he goes through the fire of dealing with everything while he's still an NBA baby. Why ever put the idea into Fox's mind that he isn't a bonafide NBA starter ROY level player?? Why???

Joeger also stated that Fox might have the highest basketball IQ of anyone on the team and everybody was playing catch up to him. But let's not put facts before our agenda.

Really?

He said that?? Fox MIGHT have a higher IQ than, what,... NBA HOFer GARRETT TEMPLE???

Glowing praise oh my goodness

Imagine Brett Brown bringing Simmons off the bench and saying he has one of the highest IQs on the lottery Sixers... That is NOT praise.

All these other guys on the team will be gone soon. Say Fox has one of the highest IQs in the LEAGUE. This is the guy the Kings were potentially going to trade their two picks to move up for. Treat him like it.

Actually it's pretty high praise for a rookie, when his coach thinks he has a higher basketball IQ than Garret Temple or any other vet.
I mean those guys are seasoned players, who know exactly whats their role is and where they should be on the floor.
I will never understand, how some Fans seem to think, that there are Stars in the league and everybody else is just a clueless scrub. We are talking about the best of the best when it comes to basketball. All of those guys can play.

Oh good grief.

Why do I get the strange feeling I've met you somewhere before?

Dude... he's a scrawny 19 year old. Hill has been garbage, but that doesn't mean we need to rush things.

Also, from the interviews I've seen of Fox, he seems to be incredibly self aware, intelligent, and confident. He's not some mental/emotional midget who is going to break down if he doesn't start.

If anything, Fox strikes me as the type who's going to grind even harder, knowing that he needs to EARN that starting roll.

That is extremely high praise from a coach of any rookie. The truth is that Joeger has had almost nothing other than high praise for Fox from the get go. I don't care if he didn't drool all over him during his latest interview, and I highly doubt if Fox cares either.
The Kings are doing the right thing by bringing the rookies along at a controlled pace IMO. Throwing young players to the wolves is much more likely to hurt their confidence than whether or not they get enough praise from their head coach.

so you want to give him the Tyreke Evans treatment then? Let him go out and get his, pad his stats all while letting it get to his head that he doesn't need to improve and that he is entitled to everything. This is not the way to go about it, Fox will get his minutes in due time, right now you labeling him a star is premature. He is a 19 year old with potential right now, that's it, nothing more and nothing less.

Joerger needs more of a leash here. I know we are all angry that he is making slow-bo the focal point on offense and that this team can't score. Let's remember this is Joerger's second year with the team and the roster has had a major overhaul so it's basically year one all over again for him with a new roster. If we want to nitpick, what the team should really be doing right now is playing faster, they have lots of youth and athleticism and that should be taken advantage of rather than playing in a half court which is an atrocity to watch with this roster right now.
