Season premiere of Grey's Anatomy was surprisingly good; whole lot of shout outs to previous cast members. The Orville and The Good Place have been holding it down, as well; looks like Thursdays may finally be back.

I'm undecided on the season premiere of Scorpion, but that's mostly because I really hate Mark Collins. IYAM, he's the second-most unlikeable character on scripted television, behind Sheldon Cooper.

I really hope that NCIS wraps up soon, so I can quit hate-watching this show.

The DCTV shows can't come back soon enough. Double ditto for Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.

I didn't think I'd like This is Us but I caught up on the first season during the summer and am now totally hooked. It's the writing that makes the difference for me. So well done.

Lol you know they call it "cry porn"? We enjoy it as well. I normally don't like those types of shows , but like you said the writing is very good. Sterling K Brown is awesome as always

My first impression of The Good Doctor was positive. In this instance, it appears my first impression was definitely right. Interesting show with some subplots that simply have not been addressed with the same kind of flair and intelligent writing. If you haven't watched this yet, you might want to give it a try.

Superstition - I've always liked Mario Van Peebles so I decided to give this a chance. It looks like a cross between Grimm and Supernatural. The two episodes that have aired thus far are both available on SyFy.

Not when you're on satellite internet with bandwidth limitations. It's all that's available in my part of the forest.
I live in the country and never thought I'd be able to get decent internet. Eventually AT&T DSL made it out here and it was OK, but not great by any means. Then a local ISP improved their wireless capabilities (their first iteration didn't work well for us at all) and we have had pretty good service through them for a while now. I'd definitely recommend them to folks in their area of service.

Not anywhere near what you can get if you live in town, but it makes a quieter living location much more tolerable. I get 6 MB down and 1.5 MB up where I used to only get dial up service a number of years ago....

Okay, back to program discussions. :p

I'm anxiously awaiting the second episode of Young Sheldon. The actor in the title role makes my jaw drop. He has an incredible amount of talent and it's hard to believe he's an actor and not actually the younger version of Jim Parsons.

I only watched the first episode and it just didn't grab me. Maybe I'll give a look during summer reruns.
Funny thing is, when I first heard that they were rebooting S.W.A.T., I was determined not to watch it. In fact, I was so determined not to watch it, that I had resolved that, if I found myself watching the show by accident, I would throw my TV out the window.

Then, I saw the CBS Fall Preview, and I saw what sort of show it looked like it was going to be, and I said, "Actually, this looks like a show that is relevant to my interests. I think I'll check the pilot out." And I did, and I loved it, and I've watched every episode since. It's in my Top 3 of shows this year, behind Scorpion and This is Us. It'll probably fall behind Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. but, since that doesn't officially debut until Friday, I'm not counting it just yet.

Slim's Top 10 shows of the 2017-18 season (to date):

Scorpion
This is Us
S.W.A.T.
The Good Place
Arrow
The Orville
MacGyver
DC's Legends of Tomorrow
Brooklyn Nine-Nine

Grey's Anatomy (S14 has legit been the best season this show has had in a decade)

I found my top 10 list (not necessarily in order) to be remarkably similar to Slim's:

Scorpion
This is Us
The Big Bang Theory/Young Sheldon
The Good Doctor
Lucifer
The Orville
MacGyver
The Walking Dead
Lethal Weapon
Grey's Anatomy

(Not included are shows like Wynonna Earp and the Librarians, which are currently on hiatus.)

My wife and I still enjoy Blindspot. Also I catch just about every TV/Netflix show that is Marvel related. Some of the DC shows (Arrow, Supergirl, Flash, Legends). Orville.

Outside of sports?

Big Bang Theory
WWE
Jeopardy

Are really about the only shows I'll watch consistently throughout the year.

I will, periodically, watch a cooking-related show if it interests me (although I can't cook, even if my darn life depended on it). I just enjoy watching those to see the different kind of food(s) that are out there. And, since I do have an extremely dangerously sweet tooth, I enjoy watching "Unique Sweets" periodically. Just 'cause.

One more thing (RE: The Orville finale): would it kill other shows to have a season finale that doesn't end on a ****ing cliffhanger, once in a while?

I've tried watching this show several times and I just can't do it. It SHOULD be funny to me and right in my wheelhouse. But I don't enjoy it. I can watch it (nothing offensive or off-putting, etc.), but it's not a show I seek out to watch. There is just something about it I can't put my finger on that makes me change the channel.

I enjoy it because it's what I call "Pure Stupid Comedy". Nothing about the show should be taken seriously. I think it is one of the few shows that I can think of where the cast, from top to bottom, is constructed to perfection. I love the on-screen chemistry, and relationship, between Sheldon and Penny. Honestly, those two are my favorites on the show, hands down.

A lot of people, I think, miss the boat on shows like this because they are looking for something a little more serious, and the stupidity of something like this turns them off. I actually think that it's the stupidity of the show that makes it as great as it is.
