...If Demarcus was still a King everyone would be saying ohh look at the growth, he aint mad and out for revenge, emotionally overextending himself and going after the Kings due to how Vlade sent him on his way. He's at peace and thats growth. Just another game for him. He's still the same misunderstood man as when he was here and its a shame that those who once followed him are sharing in that sentiment.
I'm glad you can still view things the same way. But to say this is "just another game for him"? If that's true, he's lost the very part of his passion that he needs the most. Of course it's NOT just another game. How could it be?

5. Whether Brick makes a cameo here at some point on Thursday (sincerely, not trolling)...
I'll honestly be surprised if he does. If they win, I don't see him coming on here and gloating because that's just never who Brick was. If they lose, what would he say? I may well be wrong, but I think Brick was totally honest when he sad he was moving on. He did not make that decision lightly.

I'm saying DMC had it all, a craptastic attitude, crap on the court relations, losses, techs, guady numbers to help people sleep at night that he was worth the head ache. Draymond does wonders for his size. He does it from hustling back on defense, bbiq, knowing how to push the refs/opponents. DMC knows how to hijack a game where Casspi and Steph are putting on a 3 point clinic and get himself ejected.
Why do I get the feeling you just might be a Warriors fan?

I don't think we should boo Cousins. Yeah he's part of the reason why we were dysfunctional, but hes not the reason why we've missed the playoffs for 10 years. It would be dumb to blame our lack of success on him. Just look at the coach overturns. Eric Musselman, Reggie Theus, Kenny Natt, Paul Westphal, Keith Smart, Mike Malone, Ty Corbin, George Karl, and Dave Joerger. 9 different head coaches in 11 years? Not to mention the disappoints we drafted in the lottery: Jimmer Fredette, Thomas Robinson, Ben McLemore, and Nik Stauskas. For sakes...JT was our 3rd best player for a few years.
Yeah his crying and moaning got tiresome, but he dedicated 7 years here. He became a 3x all star... our first all-star player since Miller and Peja in 04.

Fans can boo all they want, but I'm confident that the majority will cheer. I think he deserves it.

I'm glad he's gone because of how polarizing he is to the fan base. I hate how venomous the discourse often gets around DeMarcus Cousins. "If you don't understand that his great play trumps his bad attitude you're stupid". "If you whitewash his bad attitude due to his gaudy stats you're stupid". "If you don't think DeMarcus has a 'character issue' then you're stupid". "If you don't realize he was a philanthropic giant you're stupid".
You also have the people who felt they were honest about Cousins' flaws, but just don't personally find them to be objectionable, or otherwise don't consider them to be deal-breakers, and can't understand why everybody else trippin'.

I'll be there at the game tonight giving Cousins a standing ovation for what he has done for this community & the loyalty he has shown this franchise when any common man would have taken the easier path and walked away/forced his way out.

You can hate his game, you can hate his whining, but to not show him respect for the things mentioned above would make me feel ashamed about the city I choose to call home. I'd like to think we're better than that, and I hope I'm proven right. I guess we'll see tonight.

Brick is gone? wow, I mean... I guess I shouldn't be surprised as I haven't post since about 2 weeks after the trade myself. I just couldn't continue to invest the type of devotion I gave for 2 decades after the debacle.

I hope Cousins dominates and shows VD what a mistake he made. But other than Boogie and the injured AD, the Pelicans have a worse team than the Kings. I just don't see Boogie signing long term there. Especially with his new perspective about making a change instead of trying to make it work. AD will always spend a good amount of games injured and they aren't going to bring anyone significant to New Orleans.

Grant's rallying the "troops" on his show. Words cannot express my disdain for that man. Let it go.

I was done after about 5 seconds when Grant condescendingly/mockingly said "Like what he did away from the court" before calling him "Destructive" before I turned away.

I'm sure
That right there is the biggest plus in having the TNT crew in the house tonight. I know Grant wouldn't have been able to refrain from taking digs at DMC. He can't help himself and he can't even admit his bias. I'd love to hear Grant say just once "Yes, I know I'm biased against Demarcus Cousins. I didn't like his attitude, I didn't like his childishness on the court. It colored how I and a lot of others view him and it continues to this day. I know he's incredibly talented but I think it's wasted and I don't think he'll ever change. I'm glad he's gone."

Even if DMC puts up 75/50, it's not going to mean that Vlade made a mistake. Since you haven't posted (or apparently read the board) since shortly after the trade, you missed the hundred and hundreds of comments in that regard.

Not trying to start a negative argument with you, but are those comments opinions or facts? Because at this point, it's all a matter of perspective.

Yep, which is why my perspective is just as valid as yours. Yours was an opinion and I pointed out that DMC's production tonight is not going to prove or disprove it. Arguing about whether or not the trade was any good is soooo last year - or premature. As far as I'm concerned, only history will be able to truly assess the impact. As someone who was one of DMC's most vocal supporters on this board, I have no desire to revisit the discussion at this point in time. I'm a Kings fan and I've moved on.

Not sure if this will calm the high emotions Kings fans are feeling today or not, but I liked this video I lifted from The Ringer via Reddit. It is a play on the Netflix show Stranger Things. Maybe it will help get some of us hyped up a little for what we have going forward, even if it brushes a little on our very recent past. If nothing else, it's harmless entertainment.

I agree and that's why I asked to double check if I missed some insider news that would've proved it because I read your original response as if it's a forgone conclusion that it wasn't a mistake.

Anyhow, carry on.

I'm sure
Grant is equivalent to someone who says 'I'm not racist, but....' and then goes on to say something incredibly racist. He's constantly saying 'I have no problem with Demarcus' when you could probably drum up hours and hours of tape that proves that he does have a big problem with Demarcus. I hope the cheer for Cousins is so deafening that it bothers Grant forever. I'll be one of the many there tonight that's going to give Cousins his due and knowing that Grant is going to be sitting there festering just makes it that much sweeter.

It's unfortunate that he chose to do so...but I can totally understand his frustration with the franchise at that time on the heals of decades of incompetence ...at the same time he really hitched his wagon to Cuz, which is his prerogative .

Everybody knows I'm a DMC fan and always have been. I lobbied to draft him and lobbied to keep him. Having said that, the outcome of tonight's game doesn't at all prove anything. Neither will the other 2 or 3 matchups. We won't know if it was really a good or bad trade (for the Kings) for a few seasons. But we may know if it was a bad trade for New Orleans as soon as this offseason if they lose him for nothing in return.

The window was shut. Seven years. The franchise did what was necessary, even if I believe it could have been handled better. I could say the same for numerous things in life.

I am a huge DMC fan, and always will be. To me, there is no proving anything for either party. Only my sincerest wishes for success for both my Kings as well as Demarcus , as long as those paths don't intersect.

When they do, I will always as with every game, pull for a Kings victory.

Theoretically knowing how to fight a bear is much easier than actually physically doing it. Kosta and Z-Bo are our only bigs strong enough to have much of a chance against Boogie (Papa will probably be inactive) and they both don't have the length or dexterity to deal with his driving ability.
Very true, we don't have the skills to overpower him. My point is just that they're going in more knowledgeable than most. In the case of the bear that means getting him to chase you up the steepest hills (where his longer front legs and shorter back legs make him less capable and comfortable) before you circle back around.

Marc Spears tweeted earlier that the Kings where planning to honor Cousins in some way. If it's more than a video montage, I hope they pick the right person to handle it. It'll be interesting to see if Vlade and Vivek will approach Cousins and Boogie's reaction. This is one of the main reasons why this is a national TV game.

No way should Vlade or vivek approach cousins on public tv. If they want to you do that where there are no cameras so you dont put someome in position where they have to act fake or risk looking like a drama queen. Unfair to put him in that position.

There's NO reason to boo Boogie tonight. I would NOT boo the kid for having a volatile personality and whatever he said out of hurt or anger towards Vlade with regards to the way the trade was handled. There was a basis to slam Vlade. He was bush league in his handling of that trade. You know who should get booed, Kyrie when he returns to Cleveland! He wanted out. Boogie wanted in, he was loyal to the city and fans, influenced by the dollar signs in his eyes. It was his agent who wanted him out. Boogie was loyal and sacrificed his body on the court diving for balls and drawing fouls. He could have been in better shape, could have been a better leader, could have played harder defensively, could have developed a better "go-to" move out of the post, could have seen a psychologists for his mental issues, but all of these "could have beens" came in the context of the guy being fairly dominant over his tenure.

I wish Willie Cauley Stein had Boogie's competitive fire!

I have seen about three of Pelicans games this year. The team is a mess but Boogie is as good as he has ever been (if not better). But I think Boogie and Davis sort of get in each others way. Boogie played his best game of the season after Davis went down with knee injury. Jrue Holiday is overrated and overpaid. That team does not have a Big Three they have a Big Two and tonight we are fortunate we will likely face only a Big One. Bearing witness to Willie and Koufos, one gains new appreciation for Boogie. Even defensively. Watch Boogie defend the pick and roll. It looks like he has seen the play 1,000 times before and anticipates what the opponent will do before he does it. He knows where to be. Contrast this to Willie. Although he is the superior athlete, Willie defends the pick and roll as if seeing it for the first time, knowing only what the opponent will do after he does it. He guesses where to be. The aforementioned is the kind of subtlety you take for granted. What is the saying is "you only know what you lost after it is gone"? Don't get me wrong, I am glad Boogie is gone. Too much drama and angst and not enough fun or return on the emotional investment. But I don't hold any animosity towards the guy. He's a flawed person. But terrific basketball player. Yet as I said before the season began, I think De'Aaron will every bit and MORE of an impact and franchise-level player that Boogie ever was without the disciplinary issues and leadership void and we do NOT get De'Aaron if the trade does not occur.

As far as tonight, I expect Boogie is going to be so amped and pumped. He will get at least one technical and score at least 30 points. What I am curious about is the response from Willie. I want to see fire and intensity and execution from Willie, not apathy and "too cool" attitude. It could be easily be argued that Willie's career has been hindered by Cousins, and the playing time he took ahead of him, and the oxygen he sucked out of the room and hindered the potential of ALL his teammates. Well, that is in the past, so Willie needs to make a statement tonight, that the past is dead, that was then, this is now, and there is a new starting Kings center who has some skills of his own. This is a potential HUGE moment for Willie to rise to the occasion in front of a national TV audience and make a statement to his former teammate, his current teammates, the fans and the league. Let's see if he cowers or steps up.

Not to in anyway contradict the generally accurate take of this post, but I am the ghost in the machine. Not as if I deleted the account.

Silly gooses. :)

I'm much less concerned about Cousins than I am with the Kings. Cousins is gone - Thank God - and we've got some nice chemistry on this team. Cousins goes to a team and they are already talking about blowing it up. That's Cousins' chemistry for you. Ka-boom.

How about coming out with some fire from the opening tip? And I'm aiming this at you WCS. How about flying around the court rather than monitoring your calorie output every play? It's time for Hill to come out the gate strong with some strong play, and also for Hield to fill it up. Kings should run, run, run: It's time for The Hounds to run with the Fox.
