Was this the best Kings off-season since they got JWill, Webber & Divac?

This past 0ff-season the Kings grabbed an all star free agent PG in George Hill, drafted a super-premium player in DeAaron Fox, and have two other potential high-end acquisitions in Bogdan and Giles (they both still have to prove it).

I'm trying to think back to when an off-season was so potentially game-changing for Sacramento. That Vlade/CWebb/JWill year will never be topped, but will this one be in the same ballpark - thrusting us from laughing stock to Charles Barkley's favorite team?

Not to mention putting a hall of famer in the locker-room to mentor the wing players.

I'm just suddenly realizing that this has been a fantastic off-season just based on Hill and Fox - and maybe a legendary one if Bogdan and Giles pan out optimally.

I’ll go on record now but if this happens than yes legendary off season for us

I think Vlade's dealing for multiple draft picks is going to remembered as very good moves. He has done it two years in a row. The Cousins trade brought in Buddy, the pick that became Giles and Jackson. That trade also pretty much guaranteed the Kings would retain the pick that became De'Aaron Fox. Then Frank Mason III was picked up early in the second round. Last draft he dealt the Kings first round pick for the picks that became Papa, Skal and got the Suns to toss in Bogdan. Even the Philly trade netted the pick that became Malachi. Koufos was also signed with some of that cash freed up thanks to Philly.

So yes I think we Kings Fans will look back on this era as a golden time:)

I wouldn't be surprised if Vlade turns this years upcoming draft pick (2018) into multiple draft picks too.

I can see him drop down a few spots in this year's draft (2018) and pick up a 2019 1st round draft pick to compensate for the one he lost in that Philly trade. ;)

The best? Too early to tell. Some of the 2000-2002 summers where Petrie deftly steered the ship from competitor to contender with moves like the Corliss/Christie and J-Will/Bibby trades, drafting Hedo, and adding key free agents like Bobby Jackson, were very successful in their own right.

The most transformative since 98? Absolutely.

Bobby Jackson is the last 'great' FA signing I can think of. Just watching Hill for a couple games - he is a cut above what the Kings usually pull from the FA pile... several cuts above. He's a really really good player, kind of an under-celebrated acquisition. If he stays healthy I think the Kings will blow away the over/under bet for a change.

Absolutely. In terms of stature, Hill was probably the most significant signing since, or perhaps even including Divac. B-Jackson turned out to be incredibly significant, but he was flying under the radar before flourishing in Sacramento.

(I still argue that Brad Miller is the biggest free agent acquisition in the Sacramento era -- since it was a sign-and-trade I understand some see it as not quite the same -- but that's a debate for another day).

Signing Hill, ZBo and VC give the Kings added Veteran punch to add to GT and KK. Those 5 Vets right there form a good team for short minutes. Their real value in the mentoring and showing the young players how to execute in crunch time to win games.

A surprise benefit is that this blend of young and old has netted a better than expected defense.

As mentioned above, Hill was an absolute coup this summer. This year definitely feels different than many years in the past. Then again, I thought the beginning of the season that Malone was fired felt different too. So, time will tell!! Picking up Brad Miller and later Ron Artest were pretty good summers too.

Edit: actually Ron was picked up during the season, maybe? Memory is fuzzy.

Likewise love the Hill signing. Best solid vet in a long time that's not over the Hill.
The Kings will have to fight hard every game to win. but from the early results this looks like a group that will always do just that.

I was thinking the same thing. I don't know the answer but I do know it's been a very long time since I've attended a game and then come home and watched the pre-game show AND the whole game because it was so enjoyable (even though we lost).

Of course there is no way to know yet, but if you count Bogdan in this summer's work I could see it competing with that year. The potential is there but it's a long way off. I'd like to see the guys prove they belong in the NBA before I start comparing them with Sacramento's best ever.
