Harry Giles

Y it’s not about this year with him just let him get back healthy and work with nba guys in practice. He could be huge for us in 2-3 years playing 15-20mpg.

Saw this and wanted to share it with everyone who is wanting to see him play:

Sacramento Kings rookie forward Harry Giles will be out through at least January while he and the Kings training staff focus on a measured and sustained progression plan designed to improve physical strength in his surgically repaired knees.

I totally agree with this move. In fact, I wouldn't mind if he sat out the whole year.

No need to rush him out there. I think Philly allowed Nerlens Noel 1 or 2 years to rehab his knees after his ACL tear before putting him on the court.

His overall health should be priority #1!

As a young man who undoubtedly wants to play, it's gotta be disappointing for Harry. But, this is probably best for his career long-term. I hope the young man stays focused and works hard since his day is coming.

I would let Giles sit out the whole year and get his knees 100%.

I would have him come back in the 2018-19 season, so he can win the Rookie of the Year award next year!!! ;)

To compete with the #1 draft pick we (hopefully) get this year before they change the lottery odds in the year we don't have a first-rounder?

I'm down with that.

I'm very glad/relieved to hear this. There is absolutely no reason to rush this kid. There is every reason to take it slow and rehab, rehab, rehab. He has time, youth, and the best medical doctors and trainers in the world at his disposal. Nothing is gained by rushing it.

Plus, he gets a year to mature mentally and emotionally, get a feel for the NBA, with zero pressure.

Not surprising to me. He hasn't regained his athleticism, and he still needs to add more strength. He's a really raw player with limited offense, so I think it's good to bring him in slowly regardless of injury.

I like that they aren't in a rush with Giles. If sitting out the entire year improves his chances of becoming a big contributor, so be it. We can wait.
That said, I am disappointed, as I'm sure Giles is himself. He's had a lot of time already for rehab, and for strengthening whatever needs to be strengthened. Sure, maybe more of all that is better. So, OK, if that's really needed. But there's a little voice in my head that's telling me that he may have had a set-back and they're keeping it hush hush. Or, if not a set-back, perhaps he just hasn't made the progress they hoped he would make.

this. me too. They even had Giles featured prominently in some promo photos on the web site. They were talking him up like he was good go to. Zach called him a future all-star. Then suddenly he is in bubble-wrap?? It seems very clear that the trajectory changed abruptly.
