Changes to All-Star 2018

another move towards embracing super teams from the league. I guess they are keeping up with the times and the fact everyone's friends these days. I liked east V west

No way this is great. Imagine how much animosity it will create when LeBron picks Durant first. Then Steph takes Russ. Bill Simmons must be giddy as hell right now.

I never would have thought we'd see such a disparity between conferences and a lack of parity that they'd ditch the conference game all together. Not good NBA!

Hrm. Interesting POV. I honestly hadn't thought of that until just now but it kinda makes sense.

You're telling me it wouldn't be fun to see Lebron and a bunch of mediocre "stars" take on the entire western conference?

It's not like it's a real game anyway. You'll never get fans interested in games where the players aren't giving it everything to try and win.

The NBA is trying to "soap opera" the fans by getting them to tune in to see who gets shunned by who and who gets picked last. It's kind of pathetic in my opinion.

I mean, I personally would love to see Boogie wind up as a captain and pick a team entirely made up of Kentucky guys and Joel Embiid probably.

To me the actual All Star game has become anticlimatic to the dunk contest, 3 point shooting contest and even the Rising Stars Challenge. But that could just be me not being interested in seeing a NBA game where 374 total points are scored:confused:

Let’s be honest, this idea to eliminate east and west makes a ton of a sense when you consider how many all star calibre players could miss out because of how deep the western conference is, and in turn consider what players could get all star calls in the east after the departures. So this idea makes a ton of sense. Get the best players on the court on two teams via draft like system and go with it.

Except that link specifically states that the All-Stars will still be selected the same way they have been, it's just that the top vote-getters will get to pick teams out of those 22 other guys.

Well that will teach me for not reading the entire article :D

Still, I’d be in favour of them ditching the conferences and going with the best players playing in the all star game.

Anyway, be interesting to see how this changes things up, or whether it will make any difference at all.
