Kyrie Irving

Kyrie is 25. I'd go after him to become our franchise player. Our core is NOT as young as fans think it actually is.

Bogdan Bogdanovic: 24.9
Willie Cauely-Stein: 23.9
Buddy Hield: 23.7
Frank Mason: 23.4
Justin Jackson: 22.3
Malachi Richardson: 21.7
Skal Labissiere 21.5
DeAaron Fox: 19.7

Don't think you can call Papa or Giles part of our core. Papa is completely unproven and doesn't look like a potential starting NBA player. Meanwhile, Giles' health is a gigantic mystery to everyone. So in reality, our core isn't as young as people make it out to be. Our best players are Buddy, WCS, Fox, and Bogdanovic. 3/4 of those guys are at least 23 yearsold.

Say what, now? Exactly how young do you think other people think your team's core is? How many teams in the league do you think there actually are, that the average age of the core of the team is less than 22.6? There might be four younger teams in the entire league.

In other words, he wants to chuck away and get his. He isn't going to be doing that in San Antonio. In New York he can. In Miami he can. In Minnesota? I don't see it. This is good news though. He wants to follow the Joe Johnson path.

He should give LaMarcus a call and see how that worked out for him.

He said that the most likely reason why Kyrie Irving requested a trade is because he still has no idea what LeBron plans to do at the end of next season, and if LeBron opts out and leaves, he doesn't want to be stuck on a team full of guys that were brought in to complement LeBron, and not him.

I don't watch enough Kyrie to be sure... how do you think he'd be out of LBJ's shadow? Would he flourish or get exposed (at least as a non-superstar)?

My gut says exposed, but that's based on very little.

Depends on the personnel around him. Put it this way: I think that the Celtics would be way better if they did a 1:1 swap between Irving and Thomas. Like, that team could win a championship.

Now, if they did a 1:1 swap between Irving and Devin Booker, on the other hand...

Just dismissing any potential argument about Kyrie not fitting our rebuild. He's not that much older than our main players.

When Kyrie was a #1 option, he did a good job. He faced a lot of criticism for not being a "natural passing point guard", but how things have changed since then... I think Kyrie would excel as the #1 option, could probably put up 30pts 8asts/game. He's a very good scorer.

Is like half of that core going out in a trade for Kyrie?

Certainly I believe this to be true, but it seems like he should demand a trade after LeBron leaves if that's the case, not before while their window is still open.

Kyrie is crazy. He's a championship caliber #2 man but he's not a #1 on a team that has any chance of winning the finals.

Sounds like he thinks they would be better if the ball was in his hands more and Lebron's hands less. It's kind of like how most people at work think they are smarter and/or could do a better job than their bosses. Which is probably true in many cases but in this case, his boss is essentially Steve Jobs and you just simply aren't going to do a better job than him.

I don't think that the New York Knicks think that they're rebuilding, and I wouldn't be surprised if Kyrie Irving does, either. Don't be too quick to confuse a misguided and failed attempt to make the playoffs with a rebuild.

One of the teams Kyrie is rumored to be interested in is NY although it could be just the media in NY thinks every player is eager to play for the Knicks.
Well it is NYC and MSG venue. A 25 yro might like the sound of that, but its true not everyone likes NYC. "Get a rope."
