Starters,Bench, gotta earn it

Team just announced Giles won't play in SL.
Personally, I am happy with that decision and I think that is the best decision for the long term health of Giles.

While I am sure Duke has an excellent rehabilitation program, I think the NBA has world class facilities to make sure his knees are 100% before he steps on the court.

If we are patient with his recovery, I think we will be rewarded when he is 100%! :)

I really like Skals game but there is no way he's starting over Zbo this year unless he gets hurt.
Agreed. Skal has a lot of potential, but doesn't seem like he has a high bball is. He doesn't get into the right positions for rebounds, isn't great at switching on defense, and dribbles into bad situations. A year behind zbo should do wonders for him.

People keep saying this and yet the FO seems to say we're about to be blown away by the kid. I know the FO has said some ridiculous things before, but I'm hoping they aren't blowing smoke here.
Just too many options in front of him, will do him some good to be active.

He has some good skills, but needs to package up all together with time on the court, which he won't get right now with our roster.

After watching the 2 summer league games, the kids don't look ready to play starter minutes yet.

I think coach is going to start a heavy veteran line up to begin next season.

PF: ZBo / Skal / Giles (G-league)
SF: Temple / Jacskon / Carter
C: KK / WCS / Papa (G-league)
SG: Hield / Bogdan / Richardson
PG: Hill / Fox / Mason (G-LEAGUE)

By the all Star break, some of the kids may supplant the vets, but I could see joeger starting the vets to start the season, until the kids prove they are worthy.

He definitely hasn't shown anything to be excited about these two games. I am still hopeful he really is showing more in practice but it does seem he will start in Reno right now.

Actually, I'm going in the opposite direction, or at least I hope Joerger does. I think Hill will definitely start, but other than that, I think we throw the kids in the starting 5 and let some baptism by fire happen. And we use the vets to supplement them when they suck or need a "learning moment" and such. That's kind of the point of having vets like we do; the fact that you can use them in any role and they're ready to go to give you good minutes. If we're truly about player development this season, we should let the young guys get consistent run together and not staggered off the bench. Use the vets to supplement the struggling kids as one-offs off the bench, not the other way around.

Pretty much agreeing with you, but I think Bogdan will start over Buddy. There is nothing Bogdan can't do that Buddy can imo. And the SF position is basically up for grabs. I can see all three JJ, Carter, and are Temple (maybe even Bogdan) starting there.

God, I hope not. If they're not ready, the last thing we need is to force them out there into the deep water so to speak. These kids are hungry. Let them prove they deserve starter minutes. Don't do to them what was done to Ben McLemore.

Where in anything that is the best way? Sink or swim is desperation when you have no other choices nor time.
We have time to get them to be apprentices for a couple of month, to hone their skills, learn about life as a pro and their role, instead of improvising and getting bad habbits.
They will play 15-25 min per game anyway, none of the vets will play much more than 30 if that much.

When January/February rolls in, when they are set on the right path, let them fly.

Bottom line is with all the speculation we can have, do you trust Joerger and his staff to develop these guys. I absolutely trust that these guys know what they are doing and the process they use to develop. Very confident in them.
