Blown defensive assignments, missed passes, not running crisp sets - none of that is a big deal in Summer League. But missed free throws, horrible outside shooting, poor rebounding, lack of physicality, those bother me a lot.

And Skal and Papa not being able to get anything going other than dunks off dumpoffs or offensive boards is a big concern, especially for Labissiere.

The team appears poorly coached. Big Papa looks slow, out of shape, and has been outplayed by scrubs. Shooting has been horrific. Just not sharp in any aspect. Defense has been porous and rebounding looks bad on both ends.

It's Summer League.... ah well...

I'm okay with the idea that Papa is a project, but at the very least we should see occasional flashes of what he can eventually bring to the table on a consistent basis but we just aren't so far.

I don't have an idea of what kind of a successful player he could turn into.

Even just a big body that sets great picks, rolls hard and is an interior defender would be a valuable role player but he's not showing any of that really.

By again and again, I mean last year too... this is not all about one or two summer league games. again and again... that's what I said. shown nothing, again and again... since the day he arrived.

I hope you and Slab have reason to gloat when he becomes a real rotation player in the future, I swear to God I'm rooting to be wrong. But now... he is not valuable.

analogy to WCS is dumb come on... WCS was a successful Div 1 player it is not the same at all./

Even if you cut Papa, why on earth would you replace him by signing Cooley?!?! There are a ton of other big guys that appear to be able to play at the next level on some of these other teams SL. No part of Cooleys game translates to the next level. None.

0-2 in Summer League don't mean squat.

I am concerned about the poor rebounding on both ends and the poor shooting percentages.

I'm sure both will improve over time.

I didn't see any NBA starters in Kings Uniforms tonight. No one who could challenge

no apparent reason? it is a reluctant conclusion that he is terrible. if you see the upside that's great I hope you're right. But a) I don't hate him and b) my disappointment in him is not for no apparent reason.

are you saying you want him on the floor in a close game you're trying to win? Or you can see him rounding into a guy like that? great - I hope you're right.

Oh I'm not too high on him..I just was saying 2 summer league games mean nothing to me.

Thing is, not every player is going to pan out. Some are going to be solid rotation players, some end up busts, some end up surprising and are studs.

Cooley is a D-leaguer. He's played professionally for years now. Every year we get some scrub scrapping in Summer League that the fans pine for and no one signs him. Papa may have been terrible but if an NBA team signs him to a roster spot then that team has bigger problems.

Honestly no one should be caring about what he's doing out there.
