An absolute class act. (While most of his players have crapped out at the NBA level, almost all of Bill Self's recruits are absolutely amazing human beings.)

To be honest I wasn't crazy about this pick but I'm gonna table all judgments til we see him for a few seasons. This was a solid A draft from Vlade and the Kings, they got a fantastic haul.

Easy player to root for, he's a bulldog, ferocious, has an indomitable will, whatever you want to call it. Kansas and Self haven't always done the best job developing talent but Mason appears to be one of their pristine examples of that.

I'll be honest, I watch very little NCAA basketball. However, I've asked a few friends who are avid fans and I'm pumped! All said he was the steal of the draft at 34.

I like this pick!
Potential upside to be very good player, and who knows, All-star maybe. But since we drafted Fox, it's either find a way to have those two at the court at same time in future, either trading him with a big price, in the future.

However, first let's see how he would fit as backup, if he gets his chance at all. I hope he will...

Since Fox is primary point guard from the draft, good thing for Frank is that he won't have pressure...

Welcome to Sacramento Frank, You are an awesome guy. How about you put the league on notice right away and win the rookie of the year award. So happy you are here

I have a minor detail question that was hoping one of the contract experts around here might be able to answer. If the Kings offered Mason a two-way contract is he bound to take it due to the Kings owning his draft rights, or because it's not a full NBA contract would he be free to sign a full fledged NBA contract with another team?

Basically we have control over Mason, if we want it. We have to submit a "required tender" by September 6 in order to do that, which is typically a one-year minimum contract. He can sign that, or we can negotiate a better NBA deal. But if he signs it, then we can subsequently cut him and be the only team allowed to sign him to a two-way. However, I think at that point he would be a free agent and could sign a full-fledged NBA contract with another team.

But my guess is that we will sign him to a full-fledged NBA deal.

He is going to have to bring a lot more than last night to guarantee that...

That's what I was thinking... He looked like he didn't belong. He was expected to be one of the more NBA ready players. Some, including myself, wouldn't have been shocked if he looked better than Fox initially. Instead he looked awful. It was only one game but like you said he has to play better.
