Welcome Justin Jackson

Excited to have JJ. He's a winner!! I think the naysayers are gonna look back and feel foolish that they doubted him. He may not ever be a star, but I think he'll develop into a valuable all-around player. The NBATV guys compared him to Tayshaun Prince and think his floater/shot has the silky smooth look of the Iceman George Gervin.
Perry scouted and drafted T. Prince so I had a feeling he would really like Justin.

Well I wasn't excited about Jackson at first (I wanted OG) but I've quickly come around. He's long, passes the ball well, should be able to defend, and made huge strides with his shot. Battle tested gym rat... We're gonna have amazing team chemistry going forward I think.

Who got me on a scouting report?!
Justin Jackson has a silky smooth shooting touch and he's got the best floater of anyone in this draft.

He's got a monstrous 7'3" wingspan and he's really done a great job adding good weight in the past few years, that being said he's still a bit frail and he doesn't have the greatest footspeed/lateral quicks.

He's a smart player though, especially on offense. He's a floor spacer, he and De'Aaron Fox have already played quite a bit of games together too(See the Houston Hoops thread I just made), he'll be lurking on the weakside of the defense waiting to make them pay.

He's got some ability to put the ball on the floor. He's really a very, very good shooter though and not to be left open under any circumstance.

MVP of the McDonald's All-American game years back. He was the key cog for UNC's team this year even though he had a miserable shooting performance in the championship.

If Vlade's got one distinguishing trait as a GM, it's apparently that he likes drafting dudes with 7'3" wingspans.

My guy! Thanks!

Kid sounds like a low ceiling/high floor type pick and I'm ok with that! Looking forward to seeing him develop into a solid glue guy for us.

He fits really well on the Kings in terms of skill set and mindset so I really like him. A lot of people doubt his ceiling so he'll have plenty of people to prove wrong.

Apparently Jackson and Fox are childhood friends from Texas. Played on teams together as kids, and are excited to be on the same team again. The team chemistry is looking good already!
This is what I think I'm the happiest about after last night. Vlade's brought in kids with talent and character and an ability to play well with others.

Guys, we got players from Duke, UNC, Kansas AND Kentucky (not in any particular order) who are gonna be out of their minds once they play in front of the Kings home fans. It'll be their college atmosphere on steroids...and everybody will win.

Welcome JJ. You're gonna have a good time, and so are we Kings fans!

Agreed. Not one suspect personality on the team at the moment. A bunch of good natured guys that love the game and live in the gym.

Plus we got the two best players in college basketball last year in Mason and Jackson.

I like his outside shooting and his floater game and that he has high IQ to make decisions. If he becomes a consistent outside shooter he can attack closeouts with the threat of his floater or make the pass. His defense could be bad at first but I think Joerger can mold him to be at least a good team defender, plus he has solid length for the position.

Jackson was the obvious best SF available at the time, in my opinion. I could make a case for Anunoby, but there is some risk involved with his injury, and he still has a questionable three pt shot. So I like the Jackson pick. He's one of those hustle guys that's constantly moving, and he's also a gym rat who is constantly working on his game. That's actually a trait of every player the Kings took in this draft. They all have high BBIQ, and are good character guys. All four are also very unselfish players.

Sometimes it's better to have a less athletic but highly skilled player with a good work ethic, than a freak athlete who likes to sit at home and play video games on his newly bought 100 inch curved screen TV. I think everyone will like Jackson once they see him play. I doubt he'll ever be a star in the league, but I can easily see him as a solid starter or backup player that can get you 12 to 15 pt's a game, pull down 6 boards and play decent to good defense. That may be all the Kings need from him. He's a team first player, and that's what the team needs.

If he becomes more than that, then we've struck gold where none was expected. By the way, I love Frank Mason. I watched Kansas this year just to watch Mason play, not Jackson. Jackson has the superior upside. That goes without saying. But this year I thought Mason was the best player on that team. Just like I thought Luke Kennard was the best player on the Duke team. No offense intended toward Tatum.

I'm coming around on this pick. He scores well within the motion of the offense and he moves the ball very intelligently. His passing is surprisingly good.

He kind of reminds me of Tayshaun Prince a bit, I think he'll be great for team chemistry on and off the court.
This. I like the Tayshaun Prince comp. Jackson gets buckets in the flow of the offense. Can shoot from deep, passes the ball very well, and has a nice floater too. Might be able to defend a bit as well. I like the pick now after being disappointed initially.

Actually his floater is one of his main weapons. He's really really good with it, and throws it in from every angle you can think of, while shooting a very high percentage with it. His jump shot release is a bit low, but he gets it off so fast that it shouldn't be a problem.
