Houston shopping assets to clear space...

...and the Kings have 55 million in cap room to absorb contracts (source). They were interested in Ryan before, but couldn't reach a number that was attractive. Now, they can get their stretch forward and possibly either Lou or Beverly by trading picks.

Obviously, a deal including these guys would necessitate a pick, but Ryan may be more of a sure thing than the #10. So, what about:

A) If Fox falls, they select him at 5, then package the 10th pick off to Houston for Anderson.

DC (if signed)/Fox
Buddy/Richardson
Afflalo/Temple
Ryan Anderson/Skal
WCS/KK

B) If Fox is unavailable but they manage to get Jackson/Tatum, then they could package the 10 & 34 for Lou and Anderson if Houston is desperate enough to sign Chris Paul and other higher profile free agents (pipe dream, but hey its the internet).

Lou/free agent backup
Buddy/Richardson
Tatum|Jackson/Temple
Ryan Anderson/Skal
WCS/KK

Problem is, while I really like Anderson/Lou Will/Beverly all as players, they don't really have any young guys or picks that make sense for us to grab for taking their salary. I'd take Beverly anyway because we need a PG, but they aren't going to dump him for nothing. Just not a good fit for us.

Houston would need to give Kings assets for Andersons contract IMO, not the other way around

you would really ship 10 for Anderson? that's awful. Anderson decided last summer that he wasn't going to come home, he made his bed. What's with these rumors and trade suggestions bringing up players like Millsap, Anderson, Beverly? I know it's the offseason so we want something to keep us busy but I really don't think many of you would be making any of these trades unless it was on NBA 2k. Besides, in order to absorb a Anderson contract, Houston needs youth/draft picks, not enticing at the moment for them.

I personally do not want to take on any bad contracts for assets. We will have 3 relatively high draft picks this year plus another likely high lottery pick next year. That's 4 young guys plus Skal, Buddy, Papa, WCS and Richardson. I'd rather add a veteran or two that can be still grow with the young guys and stash the rest away.

Who could the Kings get at 10 that would be a lock to be better than Anderson in the NBA? I don't think its offensive at all. In fact, I'd love for them to deal the #5 for Porzingis and draft Monk or Smith Jr at 10. We have unknowns vs known factors, and recent draft history has not been in the franchise's favor with the exception of Thomas.

OK, so how else do you guys purpose the kings spend their cap space seeing as you only want A) young players who B) aren't in long term deals? The team has cap they need to spend.

They are better off retaining draft picks and young players if they are going to take a big contract like Ryan's...besides, you don't bring him in because that then ruins the playing time of Skal and the rest of the bigs because he will be a 30+ min player.
