I would trade 5 + 34 to move up to the 3 spot. That is the right price. Philly gets their man at 5, at a lower salary, and the 34 pick is sugar.

To trade 5+10 to move to the 3 spot will make me finally turn and call Vlade stupid. It would be like the Bears giving up the multiple picks to get Tribiscuit when he was going to be there anyway. Vlade will lose me completely if he gives up a valuable pick at 10 to move up 2 spots when there is a very legit chance his man will be there anyway - and attractive alternatives if not, (and I have stuck with Vlade 100% thru thick and thin - Philly trade, DeMarcus trade.. all of it).

But... 5+34 seems like it "should happen". Guarantees we get one of the top 3 PGs and isn't an outrageous overpay (marginal overpay but not horrible). Yes there could be a solid player at 34 but you can only develop so many kids at once.

It's extremely doubtful thats enough to cut the mustard, especially if Josh Jackson is still on the board I'd imagine there'd be more significant offers on the table.

That was exactly the psych-out that the Bears GM pulled on himself. If Philly wants more than 5+34 (which I think is a lot), then I hope we stand pat and call their bluff. Let them pick Fox to spite us and deal with the consequences. 5+10 is an absurd overpay to move up two spots unless it's Fultz or you're the Lakers making sure you get Ball. just my opinion - I will flip around and join the anti-Vlade side.

What's probably going on is that Philly really wants Monk, but not at 3. Phoenix wants to bait us up so that Jackson slides to them. If Philly keeps the pick they probably take Jackson, forcing Phoenix to either take Fox as the BPA or Tatum. Can we risk Phoenix going BPA? And hey, maybe we go hard after Jackson and bait Phoenix into trading up a spot to prevent us from grabbing him. We'll see, but we really have to come out of this with Fox, Fultz, or Ball. I love Jackson too, but I put him a rung below the PGs as a profile fit for Sacramento and Joerger/Vlade.

Tatum will be a nice player and get his 20-24 ppg, and look great. But, we'll be sitting here in 4 years saying how he's not really a max player, but we have to max him because this is Sacramento and nobody signs here as a free agent. I want off that carousel ride. We need a face of the program.

Edit: I would do the 5 & 10 with Philly if they extinguish the 2019 trade. That's two lottery picks for (probably) two lottery picks and unencumbers our picks moving forward.

People didn't like my "no. 5 and Bogdanovic" for no. 2 either. Only charm these kind of offers have is they guarantee getting Fox. And what's this "I'll turn on Vlade" if he makes a deal like this? If he does it simply shows how highly the Kings value Fox. Maybe we don't get Fox. I'm sure I can live with that. Who has the most at stake in these issues - the Kings. I'm on for the ride.

I don't see Bogdan having any trade value at all. A team could be trading for zilch if he decides to stay over there.

Kind of like how we wasted the IT trade because Oriakhi stayed in Puerto Rico :D

He's wise beyond his years, you'll notice he's got all the right answers to every question and he's genuine, not just doing PR.. He's got those type of capabilities, he's a true floor general/extension of the coach on the floor.
I don't doubt his intelligence. It's different when you sound intelligent in an interview and when you are on the court thinking two moves ahead of your opponent, precisely what Rondo was known to have the ability to do.

Damn......Fox is starting to become a mythical figure here. Good prospect for sure. Trading multiple assets to move up to take him? Nah. I feel certain that he's there at 5. He won't go in first 2. No damn way Philly takes him.....terrible fit with what they want to do with Simmons. And Phx is going to take whomever is left between Jackson and Tatum. Either of those guys fits like a glove for PHX. Would be incredible shortsighted by them to pass on one of these SFs.

The Lakers aren't convinced Lonzo Ball is a star and would pass on him if the draft was today. (via @Schultz_Report)

To be clear:If the Kings draft Ball I will be all in and pulling for him 100% to be a superstar. Until that day,I pray it doesn't happen.

There's no legit reasons to doubt him.. thats all I'ma say..

Ahaha! I just saw that!

Ball drops to 5, I think that maybe we try to trade down (assuming Fox and Tatum are gone)?

Say we drop down to 6 or 7, and get an asset that can turn 10 into 8? We come out of the draft with Smith and Isaac. ... mission accomplished.

Lavar just seems like way too big a pain in the butt... hopefully this is a smokescreen, but Fox is a hot commodity. He probably won't be at 5 regardless.

Wow, Lonzo Ball shot 55% from the floor and 41% from 3 point range. Had no idea. I wouldn't be disappointed if he fell to us.
Not to be that guy, but, It's extremely doubtful he falls past 4... He'd be solid value for the Kings at 5 though. I'm not crazy about rooting for the circus he'll bring with him, I kinda hope for his sake he doesn't land in Cali.

I would be shocked if Ball dropped past Philly. He's a perfect fit for the Sixers.

Would be a real bummer if the Lakers drafted Fox though.
Philly's the real wildcard here, especially if Josh Jackson goes 2nd to LA.

The more I think about it the more I'm cool with trading up for Fox... Even though the price will be steep. I have a funny feeling the top-4 will be Fultz, JJ, Ball and Fox which is far from ideal for Sacramento at 5..

I only put this in here to add to the discussion on whether Fox may fall to us. May not make it past #2?
I'm going to say its complete smokescreen. But if Ball drops to us, we had better draft the kid. No damn way we can pass on Ball. As for the dad, who gives a crap. Dad, meet Coach Joerger, best coach your son has had in his life, get out of the way.

I just don't think there's precedent for that type of jump up with only a 2nd rd pick. Especially in this draft... I'd cite the trade Orlando pulled the trigger on to secure Elfrid Payton at 10 - They gave up #12 a 2nd rd pick and a future 1st.

If this draft wasn't so deep, then trading up for a guy might make sense. I'd not want to deal Malachi Richardson and 5 to move up. If Fox is gone, we can draft what's left at 5 which is JJ or Tatum or Smith Jr or Isaac and keep Malachi. Give me any of those guys and Malachi and we will have a successful draft.......and that's before even picking 10

Ball has not even worked out for LA yet ( WED ). A lot of the top picks have not done their workouts. This idea the Fakers wouldn't draft Ball today means very little until after his workout. The new GM in LA was an agent this time last year. Working the media was part of his job. Perhaps they want to run Ball through the gauntlet in his workout before deciding. This kind of leak puts pressure on Ball's camp to comply with LA's requests.

If they did pass on Ball, I would wager it would be for Jackson.

I don't disagree, but Fox has been getting LOTS of good publicity since the lottery. Would not surprise me if he didn't make it past 2 or 3. Could be a smokescreen the size of Karl the Fog, or there could be some fire there. Obviously (maybe?) we will find out in a few weeks!

To believe or not to believe? Should Lonzo be the pg we're discussing at #5? Seems like there might be a greater than zero percent chance he's available when we pick after all.
I believe it. I'd ask; Have mock draft sites and sports writers/heresay led you to believe otherwise?
Did he not demonstrate that potential on the court?

I do mocks all the time and Fox was in fact #1 on my board before the college season started... so perhaps I'm biased. From what I see on the court it's certainly feasible.

Lonzo at 5 could happen, it's starting to seem almost as likely as Fox at 5 though... I've got a hunch the top 4 will be Fultz, Fox, JJ and Ball.

Well you may be a little biased, as am I, but I have Fox at number two on my board, But then I have Isaaac at five.
