The Official Lottery Thread - Kings get #5 and #10

Philly would be silly to draft Monk at 3. Who they draft at 3 is really easy IMO...they are taking either Fox or Jackson and be ecstatic about it.
Monk is extremely talented. I am not sure he won't be a better pro than Jackson. He's undersized but he makes plays. He's a nails shooter and he's an explosive leaper. He's NOT a PG but he's a MONEY shooter and he gets up when attacks the basket. In regards to fit, Monk fits 76ers better than Jackson. So talent is close and fit advantage Monk. I need to watch more film on Jackson but I can still see the 76ers nabbing Monk at #3.

Seems like the Kings have a connection to the Fultz camp. Would love a trade to number 1 but the chances of it happening is very slim. 5,10, and our first for next year might start talks.
Ok so look, read the quotes in that article from agents and players and get the sense of excitement about coming to Sacramento they are expressing. This is fantastic.

Now rewind a year ago. Can you imagine this sentiment floating around the league if Cousins is still with us? Honestly I can't.

I think there was a large, hidden, opportunity cost to keeping such a massive personality around as Cousins. I so wish could have made it work here. I even hope he can come back someday. But you cannot deny these benefits.

Yes, keep making us believe Blob.

I think 5,10, and WCS can possibly make it work. They're rumored to love Tatum and they're get wcs to go and 10 as assets Angie loves. We'd move on with a franchise pg plus Papa/KK at center for the next decade
Yeah. That would surely get it done. It would be monumentally stupid though. I'd rather have 5 and 10 over any single pick before 5. I think there is a lot of quality in the draft but nobody I point out as a sure fire franchise player to justify such a package(two lottery picks and one our best blocks)

Also Willie holds a lot of value as a defender and potentially offensive player in this screen and role heavy era of NBA basketball. He is potentially the only big in the NBA that can be a top rim protector with the lateral quickness and length to show and stifle pick and rolls. The Clippers announcers were raving about that aspect of WCS when I watched the game on their feed. I hadn't given it much thought before then. When it comes together for the Kings as a whole and WCS. He'll be a guy teams will be jealous that we have. I've come a long way on Willie.

C'mon now. The main issue has been front office instability. As has been mentioned in media, adding Scott Perry is a big reason why the narrative is starting to change. Don't confuse that with Cousins departure.

Just because he fits the Sixers better doesn't always make it the best strategy for a team selecting in the top 3. In that point in the draft, you take BPA and figure it out afterwards. Monk is not a top 3 player IMO. He is a top 8 player though, you said it, he is a solid scorer. Undersized sure, but very athletic and he may surprise in the pros as being more than just a scorer. You never know how these Kentucky players turn out.

And if Philly is dead set on Monk man we need to trade up with them and grab Jackson. 5 still guarantees them Monk but what do we add to it to get 3 cause Jackson is damn neer perfect at 3 for us.
This is a nice idea - if Jackson is available....but maybe not worth the 10 pick. 2 second rounders maybe ? I like the idea of keeping the 10 unless for Fultz.

In other good news, since the Kings didn't fall out of the top 10 doesn't this mean they are finally free of that albatross JJ Hickson 1st round pick trade to Chicago by way of Cleveland? I believe it becomes a 2nd rounder now?

Also, with Philly enacting the swap, aren't we done with that now too?

In summary, are the Kings finally free to do what they want with their future 1st round picks???

We are free of the Hickson trade and the Philly swap but Philly still gets our 2019 first rounder.

So best case scenario we are a lottery team next year and then compete for the playoffs in 2019 so losing that pick doesn't hurt so bad.

Philly owns the Kings 2019 first rounder which will be the end of Vlades 2 year plan...because if it's a high pick Philly gets. He's fired. Makes sense why he set it at 2 years.

Not sure about the Bulls situation

Another myopic view from a myopic fan. We have a 80% chance of #8 and #10 and you view moving to #5 as a negative.....sorry but you are clueless!!! If you have already agreed to swap, that is a called a sunk cost. What is done is done. Moving forward this was among the BEST possible outcomes and it occurred. I cannot believe I have to explain the obvious!
Was this rant directed at me?

Bulls gets changed to an upcoming 2nd rounder now, right?

Bulls got our second rounder this year. Maybe that's the change. Otherwise we'd have Phillys second rounder and ours, but I know Chicago got our second rounder. I just don't remember if we owed them one or that's what they get out of that deal. Kind of lame for a top 10 protected first rounder to change into a second rounder but not our problem I guess.

Yes, the Bulls now get the Kings' 2nd rounder in this year's draft. But the Kings picked up Philadelphia's 2nd rounder via New Orleans in the Cousins trade so really it's a wash. Actually the 2nd rounder they picked up is slightly higher than their own 2nd would have been.

Nice to finally not have that trade hanging over the Kings head.

Now the goal is to have a very good draft and a smart summer in general, pick up one more high lottery pick next year and then have all the pieces in place so that 2019 first rounder owed to Philly doesn't hurt so much.

If the Kings really believed Richardson is a top flight 2-guard, they trade Hield straight up for the #3 pick.

Then the roster is:

Jackson (at #3)
Fox (at #5)
Skal
Papa/WCS
Richardson
BPA for whomever is left at #10.
