The Official Lottery Thread - Kings get #5 and #10

Glad what I saw was wrong but man the one year we move all the way up in a loaded draft and we have to deal with a pick swap.
Small price to pay considering how badly it could have ended up. 2 spots back isn't that bad at all. I think this was incredibly lucky for a franchise starved of luck. We still ended up top 5 and that's awesome. And we still have the 10th pick to boot. I am ecstatic!

This is amazing! Didn't think it would actually happen. We're after Celtics, Lakers, Sixers, and Suns. I'm hoping for Fox or Jackson at #5 but if not we get to pick from the remaining PGs and SFs in the top 10. Way better spot than #8. I don't care all that much about the #10 at this point. We should be able to get somebody good there but maybe not a starter. Which is fine. If we can at least get one future starter locked in from this draft we'll be in good shape.

NOTE: I started a new "Who do we draft?" thread in the Personnel Moves forum. Since the suspense is finally over and we know our slots, I for one would like to read all your analyses of who we'll pick, along with why they'll be available at the 5 or 10.

YES BABY! #5 and #10! I love it! Suck on it MAGIC WOLVES AND KNICKS! These three teams could not have tanked harder and made a disgrace out of the game of basketball with their inept play down the stretch and we jumped these three teams in beautiful and graceful manner to get De'Aaron Fox or another future All-Star!!!

Now I am also disappointed the Lakers got #2 instead of getting shut out like they deserve to be but they are primed to take Lonzo Ball....and he is NOT good!

This is great day to be a Sacramento Kings fan!!!! The #5 #10 and Buddy Hield for Boogie??? Sign me up! VLADE IS a GENIUS !!!! :D

KANGZ!

Of course the one time we move up, we have to give it up. Oh well, picking 5th puts us right in there to get Fox so even though we KANGZ'D, we still lucked out in our own way.
You don't even know what you are talking about. So negative. KANGZ would be the Pelicans getting Top 3. Get out of here with your weak AF posts! The 5th pick in this draft is getting Fox or our SF for the next decade vs getting "leftovers" at #8. You have no clue to invoke "KANGZ" on a night we were fantastically fortunate!

Another myopic view from a myopic fan. We have a 80% chance of #8 and #10 and you view moving to #5 as a negative.....sorry but you are clueless!!! If you have already agreed to swap, that is a called a sunk cost. What is done is done. Moving forward this was among the BEST possible outcomes and it occurred. I cannot believe I have to explain the obvious!

Even the Lakers won down the stretch, so maybe there is Karma at work.

I'm good with #5 and #10.

To be honest, just about the only way the #KANGZ move up in the draft was to borrow Philly's luck. ;)

If the Kings owned their pick outright, I have no doubt they would be picking #8 right now.

If they want Fox, no problem.....no problem with someone who could be close to a Mike Conley Jr type player perhaps.
If Jackson falls, a slot it'd be a tough choice. I'm not as enamored with Tatum.

I say its pretty easy - Fox - kinda like when they picked Cauley Stein. A safe easy pick.

Draftex press is crazy if it goes like that we better draft Tatum and Frank. Either way Tatum at 5 and get the pg at 10 Tatum will give us our go to scorer an the half court and player with a high basketball IQ

Funny and true!

I don't think picking 3 vs 5 should make much of a difference though, so I'm cool with it.
No it's not a huge diff. I just think it's funny that the one time in all these years we get lucky...We simultaneously get our noses rubbed in a bad trade with bobblehead Embiid there to provide theatrics lol...but it being only two slots lessens the blow and makes it humorous. If Philly got number 1 my mood would be different regardless of going 8 to 5

Here's the really interesting question the lottery just created - what does Philly do at #3?

Josh Jackson is a better fit for Boston than Fultz or Ball but whether they keep the pick or trade the pick I think Fultz still goes #1. I thought Lonzo Ball could possibly slip a bit on draft day but I think the Lakers absolutely take him at #2.

So what do the Sixers do? Jackson and Tatum don't really make any sense for them. Monk seems like a great fit but is that too high to take him? Would they draft Fox or Smith Jr given that they plan to put the ball in Simmon's hands? Maybe they end up trading the pick.

Either way I think Phoenix takes Jackson, Tatum or Isaac. I don't see them drafting a PG. So unless the Sixers take Fox (or Smith Jr) then I think the Kings have their choice of PG between Fox, Smith Jr and Ntilikina.

An ideal draft result in my mind?

  1. BOS - Fultz
  2. LAL - Ball
  3. PHI - Monk
  4. PHX - Jackson
  5. SAC - Fox
  6. ORL - Tatum
  7. MIN - Markkanen
  8. NYK - Ntilikina
  9. DAL - Smith Jr
  10. SAC - Isaac

Fox over Tatum, I agree with them. I'm quite happy with the prospect of Fox. I like Smith Jr too, but that was with the built-in idea of #8.
Now with #5, Fox is the safe pick imo

Is Fulz worth 10 and 5? Fox and Isacc/Collins/?

Do you think they'd pull it? I'm not as sure now? But I wonder....Kings organization have to be very happy.

I am SO excited the Kings have a chance to get De'Aaron Fox! The guy is going to be a fantastic NBA player. I have no doubt. Scorers mentality with a good head on his shoulders. Blazing speed. Being left handed is an unorthodox advantage. He did NOT shoot the three ball well at Kentucky but his mechanics are solid. He's going to knock down that shot. My concern is he goes Top 4 and Lonzo Ball slides to #5. I don't want him on the Kings.

I see #10 as a tradable pick unless Isaac slides there. I am also a huge fan of OG if his knee checks out.

Why wouldn't Philly take Jackson? It's hard for me seeing Monk going in the top 5.

Ideally would be Fultz and Jackson, but that won't happen. Realistically yes Fox and Isaac, I agree. or I'd be happy with Smith Jr and Isaac.

We haven't moved up in the draft since what, 1989? The one time we finally do, we have to give it up. We just happened to get a nice consolation prize which I am very happy about.

It's Kangz because we could have almost been guaranteed to get Josh Jackson who has a good chance of being a perennial all star in this league.
