you go after Jimmy when you had a Cousins on the team, not post Cousins. He wants to win and the Bulls are trying to rebuild since they know they can't build around a player in their prime, sounds eerily familiar

Well, Butler is only 27 yr's old and that's considered the age when a player is just entering his prime. He's making 18 mil next year, so they would have to take some salary back. Afflalo is a perfect piece if they're looking for some cap relief. Afflalo, Hield, and both our first round picks wouldn't be a bad offer. The question is, will he make us better than what we give up? He can play both SF and SG. Is he a difference maker. If so, then go after him. I can't answer that question.
Both our first round picks? That's just too big a price to pay IMHO. I can too easily see another disappointing season with mounting frustration. You said "Is he a difference maker" which is, I think, the real question. To me the answer is NO, not without more talent around him than what we'll have.

Another question to consider is, does the team have the ability to compete for a championship during Butler's prime. If the answer is yes, you go for it. If it is no, then you walk away.

I actually agree that its too big a price to pay, but I'm sure that's probably what they would want since they seem to be going into a rebuild mode. Personally, I'm happy continuing down our present path. Who knows, we may stumble across a better deal down the road.

Accidentally hit "enter" too soon on the other thread and I can't edit the poll so here it is again

The following deal would have to occur on DRAFT DAY when we are able to trade our 2017 1st round pick. For the sake of the trade, I'm going to assume we remain in our current draft position (#9) and that the lottery doesn't change the order.

Bull Get:
2017 1st Round Pick (#9)
2021 1st Round Pick (Unprotected)
Malachi Richardson
Bogdan Bogdanovic
Skal Labissiere
Willie Cauley-Stein
Georgios Papagiannis

Kings Get:
Jimmy Butler

I say no.

I've seen enough of Papa to know he has Gasol level talent. Remember, he's 19.

Between the other 5/6 players, I think at least one will be a borderline all star, and several will be top ten in their position in 3-5 years.

I actually really like the make up of our team right now. It's been a while since we had this much young talent, and a coach good at developing it, with a solid set of vets to lead by example. Two more draft picks, and HUGE cap space this summer... we are in better shape than people realize.

Let these kids incubate and develop loyalty among themselves, and you will have an "anti-fragile" team that can grow and is not dependent on the whim of any one super star.

I'd suggest looking at the timestamp of my post. This was about pairing Butler and Cousins together...
