@Vladefan21 it's Georgos. (G sounds like a Y in Greek) that's what he's asked to be called by the media.

So...I'm right and Grant is wrong. :p
It's so annoying to hear Grant call him "George". However I remember when he was first drafted, Grant asked him how to say his name. Papagiannis said that if it was too hard, he can just say George, but Grant insisted on Papa telling him how to pronounce it correctly. So Papagiannis did... yet we hear Grant him call "George" anyways.

Honestly, "Yorgos" isn't even difficult to pronounce. Rant needs to get his pronunciation together.

I'm still in shock that Grant answered my tweet. Of course, he was only doing so because he was sure he was right. LOL! If he and Jerry can learn how to pronounce Giannis Antetokounmpo properly, it should be a piece of cake to say "Yorgos."

So, no "Kings beat Jazz" thread tonight, which is probably just as well. I didn't want to be responsible for heads exploding. At least the first half was fun. :)
So, wait - are we now in "yay, more losses so Philly gets a better pick in the draft" territory again? Or is the youth getting obliterated on the floor good for their development and I'm just looking at this wrong? Sorry, I apparently can't keep up.

I really fear that the Spurs will sign him to a cheap contract, and he shall become a solid, two way player on a contending team, causing whole lot of misery for all of us.
We could still offer him his QO but all it takes is one team to bid on him and his time as a King would have come to an end. That said if Rudy opts out things could really get interesting.
These are the 10 player's who are under contract next season.
Koufos, Temple, WCS, Hield, Papagiannis, Richardson, Skal + 3 draftees.

Team or player option guys.
Tolliver who I think gets his TO picked up, Afflalo unlikely, Bogdanovic who may not be a sure thing and of course Rudy.

FA's include Collison, Lawson, Evans and McLemore. None of them I think are back.

So depending on how things play out we could have no roster spots open struggling to reach the salary floor or as little as a 11 roster spots. Ben could very well still be in Sacramento next year.

Don't ask me. I'm just in Wonderland, enjoying the tea party at this point.

If Ben had not gone off tonight like he was supposed to three years ago, this game would have been MUCH uglier.

I love our young guys, and I enjoy watching them, but they sorely missed that vet leadership on the floor tonight.

And no, Ty Lawson does not count.

Except hurt feelings, there is no practical reason to focus on avoiding Philly swap.

I don't want to call it a fear but I like Ben and can easily see him getting his act together on a decent team. I hate the idea of giving up on any of our young SG's to make room for Bogdan.
Nah. He deserves to go to a team with some stability and a fan base that doesn't despise him so he can reach his full potential. Whatever that may be. Every hard working player deserves that.

Honestly it is a calculated risk by Vlade and Company. I figure there is a 50/50 chance of a pick swap with Philly at this point. Wins and losses by each team could change those odds some but not much. Then of course there is risk with the Pelicans lucking into top 3, but not much of one. The thing is if the Pels or the Kings pull out a top 3 pick the heat goes way up on Vlade. I would have said he would survive the heat until the Hinkie rumor. Now I'm not sure.

I really hope we see no changes in the Kings Front Office or Coaching Staff. A period of stability is what the Kings badly need.

Is it a rule that we have to run the same defense no matter who coaches the Kings?

I swear this team guards the empty space in between the paint and 3 point line more than they guard actual players. Been dealing with this problem since the Keith Smart days. Even great 1 on 1 defenders like Temple are constantly caught in no mans land in between the paint and the arc. I really don't understand the obsession with pulling every single player off the 3 point shooter to double team. They're never able to get back which is exactly why teams destroy us from 3 every game. Half the time they don't even complete the double team. They just get caught sagging into the midrange area and boom, a free throw of a 3 pointer is given to the opposition. WCS and Kofous are no Gobert but damn, these guys can hold their own without needing their men to be doubled on every possession.

It's ridiculous how many times a game they leave a shooter open from the short corners. I lost count how many times it happened last night.

Eh, even Gobert gets exposed. Anthony Davis torched him for nearly 40 the other night because the Jazz foolishly think he can guard him straight up. He can't. Hell, I would have liked to have seen the Kings attacked him with WCS a lot more than they did. Willie is much quicker than Gobert and can beat him to the basket. Gobert's got great length, but not enough to consistently recover on a long player like Trill. I saw them attack it once last night and Willie beat him but just missed the short bank shot. That's something I think they can try to take advantage of in the future.

But back to your point, yes, they don't need to double like that. Other than a few bigs around the league (KAT, Cuz, AD), most can't or won't take major advantage down low.

Why in heavens name would we not offer Collison a contract? It seems highly nlikely we can get one as good either through the draft, FA, or trade. In fact it wouldn't hurt my feelings if they brought back both he and Lawson. When people say "youth" I hope they don't mean no vets. We are working our way through the difficult waters of youth right now and we will be adding some more. We need vets to get the most out of our kids. Vets like Collison, Lawson, Temple, Tolliver, Koufos. We don't have to keep them all but we do need to keep qality vets that we already have. Just someone else's POV.

But it's a 2 way street Collison has to be on board with the rebuild. He's a SOLID player I can see a team make an offer to him where he has a chance to compete for a title.

It's called NBA basketball in 2017. Or name your death. You want to get beat inside or outside or a little of both. Only real way to beat 3pointers is to mak more than your opponent. When our defense is brak-neck we do all right but doing it 100% is tough. We just need to keep the same sets of players and keep working on it.
