Kings beat Clippers!

I really thought VF21 was pulling an April Fool's joke when I saw the headline. No way could they come back from that big deficit in the 4th. Fortunately, I have a DVR! Loved Buddy's and Papa's performances, and even Langston and WCS got into the act at the end. Sure, you want to have great draft position, but also you really need to periodically get some wins to keep the spirits up on this team so they continue to work hard to get better. You can't expect any team to continue to work hard if they get their brains beat out every night.

I watched the Clippers post game show instead of the Kings and wow. Corey Maggette and the other guy kept emphasizing that the Kings were HORRIBLE and every time they said Sacramento or Kings they said it with such belittling contempt.

Honestly, I'd rather be us. The Clippers are perennial pretenders like McGradys Rockets and are a team that are a possibly a year late in getting good return from a blow up....and they have the most bland logo and uniforms in sports. Like literally "create a franchise"video game stock logo. Looks like they forgot to change out of their summer league rags, They might as well call themselves the Eliminators.

I don't want to see the Kings win too many of these final games but it does my heart good to beat the Clippers in an important game for them in The most humiliating fashion for them. One thing better than blowing a team out is coming back from a blowout in 5 minutes.

Love Buddy's comments on the Clippers transparency.

crazy ending to this. 5 minute scoring drought from the field for LA and they are now 19-22 versus teams that are not slotted in the playoffs according to their telecast. That bench is terrible too.

Philadelphia is at 27 wins. With the pick swap, wins that put the Kings ahead of the 76ers don't necessarily hurt draft position.
And Who knows how the 6ers or Kings will finish exactly? The Kings winning will likely move them toward a later pick all things equal...the 6ers could go on a losing streak....but the fact is I dont know and so I hope for losses when wins have little importance. A spot or 2 in the draft could mean everything to snagging a more desired or fitting player....being ahead of the Magic, or Knicks, or Timberwolves, or Mavericks, or Pelicans...to me is more important than beating the Clippers in what amounts to an NBA schedule-filler. Several more wins like tonight, and the Kings can roll the dice with Bulls

You're certainly entitled to your opinion , even though I totally and completely disagree. This win - against a smug Clippers team playing at home - was as valuable a lesson to the young Kings as some of those heart-breaking losses. Look at our schedule. We aren't going to win more than another game or two.
Good, cause I wholly disagree with you for not seeing the forest for the trees....I dont think a "valuable lesson" for the rookies is worth more percentage points to handing over a top 10 draft pick to the Bulls.
They just beat the Clippers - whats to stop them from beating the Lakers, Twolves, Mavericks, Suns, Jazz, Pelicans etc........no they couldn't possibly win another game or 2, right?

These are actually the only wins we should want when our young talent is doing it not vets who won't be here. Anyways Philly will swap picks with us so it's mute
At the beginning of next season, I'll agree with you. You're so sure the Sixers will not go on a losing streak themselves?

Oh please. What do you think they should do about that? They rested two vet starters, backup pg was out "hurt", and had their starting pg on the bench for the end game rally. Absent putting papa g out there to run the point in the last two minutes, I'm not sure what they could possible do to increase the chance at a better draft pick. If you want to root for losses, more power to you, but thats not going to make a difference as to wether they win or not. They played incredibly hard, made a huge run and closed off the game with a win. I think those types of things actually matter to a really young team.
Forfeit? Sure bring Papa G at point...its a race to the bottom even though the lottery could help them anyway.... I dont have the luxury to watch the game, and the wins may matter to a young team, but not at a possible cost in draft order in my book. Kings need more young talent to throw into stirring pot, and wins don't help with that at this point. This isn't playoff experience we're talking about. Last season the Kings won several meaningless games that might've had them land Hield to begin with. Might've been a different team outcome with Hield starting the season drafted, who knows....

I agree with you kingdivac. It's nice to see the kids win, but when you think that every win can hurt the team in the long run, I just can't really enjoy it. Every single win can make a huge difference, and unfortunately we put ourselves in the position where we need to lose as much as possible.

The Clippers are a mentally weak team; they've shown it year after year. It's good to get their goat. We don't make this comeback against stronger teams. We've seen that.
Also, let's not discount the fact that we have a damn fine coach. Everyone, kids and vets, have bought in all year, and you could see progress being made. Playing hard every night will lead to a few surprise wins.

That said, we need these picks this year. There's still a talent floor we've yet to hit in order to ultimately make our way to the top, and this is our last chance at it. We're not going to get another good shot at it because our coach will maximize what we have. This team, as constructed, is short of top tier talent. We have guys with flashes, but it'll be harder once teams actually start scouting us. We need that player that will bend a defense again.

People need to chill a bit with the tanking here. Nothing actually changed in the standings last night as we still get the 7th pick and Philly gets the 6th pick, even with our win and their loss. Same with the Pelicans win as they're still in the 9 spot.

Reality is, we're at the mercy of the Sixers and Pelicans as several posters have already pointed out. What difference does it make if we finish 4th and the Sixers finish 8th? Obviously I want as high a pick as possible, but we don't control our destiny at this point.

I don't think some get that we could loose out and it won't matter we are getting Phillys pick.

I know we are at the mercy of Sixers and Pelicans, but I care about having the best draft picks possible and to maximize our chances to get them. So, what difference does it make if we finish 4th and Phila 8th? Well, for example, Phila could get lucky and get a top 3 pick. In that case we would be there sitting at the 5th spot. It's much better to win a few meaningless games and finish 7th. That's just an example.

I know it's great to beat the Clippers, I watched the game and of course I liked the way the kids played. But I also know that these wins mean nothing, and they can hurt at the end of the year. I want this team to get better, as soon as possible. I don't think winning games at the end of this season helps us in the long run.

We still have some say about our draft if Philly goes down.

Even with that said, I am fine with the win like this one.

Wow really?

That's great!

**** Ping pong balls, they're all Philly's anyways.
If Philadelphia keeps winning it won't matter. They will just swap picks. As long as they are not racing ahead of Philadelphia, let the kids play and play to win.

The 6ers lost last night. There's currently a 3-way tie for 4th seed between the Knicks, Magic, and Sixers. If the Kings had loss, we would've been part of that 4-way tie. The Sixers could ideally get the 4th pick, while the Kings get the 5th pick. Instead, now we're fighting for the 7th lotto spot with Minnesota.

Kings schedule left: Clippers, Jazz, Pelicans, T-Wolves, Mavericks, Lakers, Rockets, Suns, and Clippers.
76ers schedule left: Nets, Hawks, Cavaliers, Raptors, Nets, Bulls, Bucks, Pacers, and Knicks
Magic schedule left: Raptors, Thunder, Celtics, Nets, Cavaliers, Nets, Pacers, Bulls, and Pistons
Knicks schedule left: Pistons, Heat, Heat, Celtics, Bulls, Wizards, Grizzlies, Raptors, and 76ers
Timberwolves schedule: Pacers, Lakers, Kings, Blazers, Warriors, Blazers, Jazz, Lakers, Thunder, and Rockets

Kings have more winnable games left than any of those teams. I've bolded the Nets, but I'm not sure that I should have. They've been something like 7-8 for the month of March since Lin came back.
I think winning this game doesn't help us in the long run. It'll just result in another empty stat... our win column. This just continues to hurt our future. Last 10 years has been the same damn story.

Kings: "LOOK AT US!!! WE'RE TERRIBLE, BUT WAIT, WE'RE NOT TERRIBLE ENOUGH TO GET A TOP 3 PICK!" Kings with their half-assed rebuilding gets us nowhere. We should've traded Collison or Lawson at the deadline.

Just re-watched the last 5 minutes. So awesome. The Clips were going thru the motions while our young Kings kept playing hard and never gave up. The camaraderie this group has is special. You can just see it. I remember back in 1998-99 when we were just starting to assemble a decent team and you could see they had the same mojo too.

I really feel like this group will be special. It's just going to take some time and patience but it's so much more fun to watch this that what we've seen the past few years.

Yah, might have. In our circumstance I go with what we have first and foremost. Draft spots can work for us. No matter what we get a decent pick which may work out or not. I like what we have and I'm willing to live with what we get and not sweat the remaining W/L record. Let' just play them out and let the chips fall where they may.

Those are terrible odds, especially when considering the swap rights with the Sixers.

What offer for Collison or Lawson should we have taken? I happen to agree that we should have traded them, but I'm not privy to what offers the FO rejected so I don't know if those offers actually made the team any better now or in the future.

I understand wanting to get a better draft pick, I want that too, but the Kings are tanking already. They are playing the young guys and resting the vets and they did that in the game last night. The Clips were historically bad to close out that game last night and it was Hield and WCS (a rookie and a 2nd year guy who are presumably part of the rebuild) who were the catalysts for the comeback. The Kings are 4-12 since they actually started to tank and they have dropped 5 spots in the West alone. There are only 3 teams in the NBA a worse record than the Kings over the last 10 games. The Tank is working.

To me it's a pride thing with having to swap with the Sixers as well. That would influence more derision for our FO and that trade (which may not be negative). It would hurt to see us with the 4th worst record and swapping with the Sixers 8/9. It would mean the Sixers got over on us
