According to Kayte Christensen on the pre-game show today, the Kings have decided to shut down Malachi Richardson for the rest of the season. She said they determined it was better for him in the long run to make sure the injury is completely healed than to bring him back for a few games.

I like the move. Right now Malachi has an image that is positive. If Bogdan comes over it could prove best to move Malachi. He was equally likely to decrease his value as he was to increase it by playing.

The staff knows what they've got in him. I'm happy for them to Keep that to themselves as the offseason unfolds.

Summer league just got up another level even before the draft choices. Malachi and Heild at the 2, Skal and a draft choice at the 3, Big Papa and Willie at the 5 and a decent PG to control the whole group. Making my Vegas motel reservation now.

I don't think Willie has any reason to play in the summer league now. He's the starting C.

I don't want to move Malachi to make room for Bogdan, or to make Bogdan "feel" he is wanted here. Malachi has shown nothing more than great poise and good potential this year. Bogdan has shown us nothing yet, except that he could be an intriguing prospect. Malachi looks to be the kind of player who can win games and not just fill up stat sheets. If Bogdan chooses to come over and play and shows he can be a star in the NBA, then we'll make the necessary adjustments. But I'm not going to trade Malachi for a 2nd round pick in the hopes that Bogdan would then feel (more) welcome here. Nor am I willing to move Buddy for Bogdan's benefit before he has proven he can play in the NBA. Buddy looks like he could be a borderline all-star in one or two years. Bodgan can come over and show he can be a star here. Or we can trade his rights. I like our chances with Buddy and Malachi, with Buddy being the more classic 2 and Malachi being the 2/3, and perhaps growing into the 3.

All fair points! The Kings have create a log jam at SG position by trading Boogie. They need to somehow sort this out because there is not going to be enough minutes to be split between all the players.

It is interesting to me that people would happily trade Malachi to make room for Bogdan. I like Bogdan and I think he will be a good NBA player. I also think that he will really struggle on the defensive end. He is not very quick or agile so defensively in time he will be average at best. I wouldn't be quick to move Malachi just to make room for Bogdan even if he decides to come over.

Malachi shows shades of Rip Hamilton. Atleast in the small sample size we got of him playing well. I definitely wouldn't be quick to trade him but I fear Bogdan will probably be more ready to produce due to his experience in the euro leagues, championship tourneys, and just being older. I think a Bogdan will probably be the better player next season. I just hope Malachi gets the opportunity to show more and then Divac and Joerger can decide who to move. Somebody will be the odd man out and its not going to be Buddy.

I disagree. I think he needs to improve his rebounding AND I think playing SL is a good way to build the camaraderie amongst his fellow Kings.
Whether he ought to or not, I think it's fairly uncommon for third-year players to play in summer league when they have an established slot in the rotation. Maybe it happens sometimes, but I can't really remember anybody standing out in that situation. So I kind of doubt we'll see WCS there.
