[Game] Kings @ Warriors - 3/24/17 - 7:30PT/10:30ET

Why didn't Vlade attempt a buy out with Barnes? Is that rookie GM'ing? Apparently he was just cut
two-year, $12 million deal with a second-year player option - rookie GM'ing id say - we could have saved some cash im sure had we gone down the buyout road.

Anyway its not like we traded our star player in a salary dump....ohh wait

Without Cuz trade that was a good deal giving a new coach player veteran player he likes. 6 mil/season does not sound like overpay.

This again shows that Cuz trade was not part of the long term strategy. All the moves make perfect sense if we were building with Cuz as a centerpiece. Slowly adding pieces around him.

Something happened this season that made Vlade completely change the strategy and trade Cuz, which makes some of his major moves (Philly trade/Vets signing) bad.

Wow this washed up bum who helped drive our most talented player out of town and by divine miracle and injury to KD latched on to Warriors to ride the coattails of guy with 10X the skill and 100X the class (Klay and Curry) is holding a grudge against Kings for being waived?

This loser should be thanking Vlade and Vivek for gift of 12.5 million dollars over 2 years. Think about that! More money than 99% of people will see in their entire lifetime to launch bricks and play matador defense and throw low percentage passes.

Matt Barnes shot 36% and dragged the franchise player into nightclub where he assaulted a female (allegedly) and went about his business like he was grieved party. Did she scratch you with her long nails Matt that you allegedly had to wrap your hands around her neck? This dirty player with flagrant foul track record to show for it was one of the worst things to happen to Sacramento, and thank God we cut our losses.

Thank God we saw the error of our ways!

A man reveals his character when faced with adversity. Adversity struck in form of being waived. This butt hurt baby cannot self-reflect, see his role in the collective failure, act with class and gratitude and move on. So he calls the Kings "the enemy". We are the enemy? Screw you we extended your career two years past its expiration date!

Barnes helped end Boogie's career in Sacramento. This is my opinion but I stand by it. Of course Boogie had to take responsibility for actions, but you have a guy wholly convinced he got a bad rap over of his career for his on and off court transgressions. He imparted this mindset onto Boogie. The effect was a faster suspension than any player in the league history. I am not saying Boogie would still be a King if Barnes was never a King, but I can tell you there would be a better chance if this were the case.

The Kings need mentors for their young guys. A veteran who knows the ropes knows how to be professional, plays the game the right way. Those guys were deemed to be Tolliver, Koufos, Temple. Its unfortunate a guy with hometown roots turned out to be a POS. You want to root for your own. In this case I am rooting for Matt Barnes and his team to fail.

I am excited about the playoffs. I thought KD was a traitor to Oklahoma and Westbrook. I think Steve Kerr is a smug self-entitled hot head. Draymond Green is a d-bag. Their fans are brats. I didn't need another reason to dislike the Warriors but I have one. I have another reason to root against them and bask in their karmic defeat. Spurs, Rockets, Jazz. These are my adopted teams when the playoffs start.

Join me in rooting for their glorious failure. :)

I didn't like Barnes. But all of his teammates love him. From his earlier warriors stint, to the clips, to the Grizz, and of course with the Kings.

His last Kings stint was IMO a failure, but he does something behind the scenes that coaches and teammates love. Don't know what it is, but whatever happened with Cuz is not on Barnes.

And to think that I thought we had nothing in common ;) Couldn't agree more with everything quoted above. I don't dislike Matty like you, but I am a bit puzzled over his sudden hatred. I'd think he'd be happy to be on a playoff team and away from the mess in Sacramento. I suppose these guys have to find a way to motivate themselves.

What happened was Vivek got cold feet and changed his mind at the last second about that fat contract extension.

And then Vivek ONLY wanted Hield or Ingram. The trade had Vivek's stink all over it.

In fact, every bad move can be traced back to our garbage owner. This is how it goes when a franchise has rot at the top. Us Kings fans know this from the Magoof days. Vivek is somehow even worse.

But I'm sure Vlade will be thrown under the bus when his time comes.

We're The Knicks west.

I'm confounded by this also. Kings gave him an opportunity to be on a contender, and at this stage of his career, what more could Barnes want?

Dumb, prideful posturing.

Reminds me of when Mudiay was talking about how he'd make us regret passing on him in the draft before we played the Nuggets.... nevermind that the scamp wouldn't even workout for us predraft!

Barnes can talk all he wants. I'm not going to be incensed over the opinions of that dirtbag. I just think it's funny.

Kill us Barnes? You did that nightly when you were a King.

The Kings game plan should be to just leave Barnes wide open beyond the 3 point arc...
Well then, it's a pretty good thing that's apparently our game plan for every night.

Edit/Add on; I'm still bitter about how the trade went down with the "character matters" stuff.... So I won't lie, if Matt Barnes goes off I'll be smiling about it. Same thing when we play Boogie, I'll actually be cheering for him to score 70.

Yeah, that whole "character" and "culture" thing struck me the wrong way too -- especially considering the manner in which this front office and ownership group has behaved themselves over the years. It's akin to Boogie or Draymond criticizing others for getting technical fouls and not controlling their emotions. You shouldn't preach it if you don't do it yourself.

Also, while I do agree that "character" and "culture" can and often do matter, they just don't matter as much as "talent". They are a bit lower in the pecking order. Until the Kings change their motto to "talent matters" and make that their #1 priority, then nothing is really gonna matter.

I agreed... until I realized you're talking about Matt and not OP.

"Helped drive our best player away"??? What?

He was 100 with DMC, and Garrett called him one of the 3 best teammates he ever had.

He was a casualty in the switch from "8th seed run" to "tank job".

I love Matt Barnes. If he said anything other than "I want to smash their face in" about any opponent .. I'd be disappointed.

I hope we smash his face in right back. But I appreciate that he left it all on the floor every night for the Kings. I think he's within his rights to be pissed about the way we pulled the rug out from the 8th seed run after what he personally had put into it.

This game happens to be when the US soccer qualifying match is.. if there is one sporting event that trumps the Kings.. this also fortunately projects as the most lopsided. Hope our young players show better than last game (aside from Buddy), and Malachi returns shortly

Let's just get this out of the way early...

Are you guys aware Klay Thompson once scored 37 points in a single quarter? I've seen a lot of amazing things on the basketball court, but I don't think I'll ever see that again! Incredible. Absolutely incredible.

Also, does that exact quote happen immediately after they talk about Devin Booker's 70 pts? I think so....

"70 may be very impressive, but when I saw Klay Thompson score 37 in a single quarter..."
