Omri Casspi

"New Orleans is waiving forward Omri Casspi, signing guard Reggie Williams, league sources tell @TheVertical. Casspi out with broken thumb."

Omri played one (decent) game for them, and will now miss 4-6 weeks again.
The Pels just wouldn't wait for him to recover... :(
I saw that some of the fans on their forums criticize the move (saying they shold have waived the injured Q.Pondexter, or the healthy Asik, etc).

It seems that many fans there think the team needs Omri for the long term, and/or feel that his waiving may not make Cuz too happy...

Oh well...

Pretty bleak, to go through everything he underwent this season, and in a contract year.

I really feel for him.
(Here's another very loyal guy. TOO loyal for his own good, probably)

Too bad WE'RE not allowed to sign him back this season.

Bummer for Caspi. He was a loyal guy.

Casspi did not click with the current Kings coaching staff for some reason. He asked for a trade. I'm sorry to hear of the broken thumb and being waived. I like Casspi.

If the Wolves deal is only through the end of the season I wouldn't mind the Kings looking to sign Omri for next year. When the season ends the Kings will have zero PGs and zero SFs under contract (Afflalo is a SG, not a SF)

Assuming the Pelicans don't either (a) win the lottery and get a top 3 pick or (b) end the season on a monster run the Kings will have two lottery picks and I'd expect them to draft a PG and SF. But they are still going to need to sign (or re-sign) at least one PG and at least one SF.

Don't know if Casspi would want to return after everything, but I like his hustle and he add's more outside shooting.

I highly doubt that Omri will be back next season. For whatever reason, he seemed to be out of favor with Joerger all season long when he was no injured. I just think that Joerger doesn't think that Omri fits his system well.

Yup and add to that Vlade's feud with Fagen and I just don't see Omri back, which kind of sucks since I like Omri and would like to see him as part of the franchise either in uniform or a suit.
