[Game] Kings v. Magic - 3/13/17 - 7:30PT/10:30ET

When you lower your expectations or goals for the season, everything is 'not half-bad'. Fans have settled back in to the usual shtick of dreaming that each prospect has more upside than they actually have. Not saying that the young guys aren't going to be ok but none have the upside of an all-star type guy...this team is now missing probably 2 franchise players instead of 1. Put the roster with 2 high level guys and we might have something but I think every team could say that.

I think the more appropriate description of the team as far as fans go is apathy. Shiny new players who give hope because of the damn word "potential". wait til next year when we continue to lose at this pace for a whole year. Apathy and disinterest will set in. I blame the multiple FO's for not being able to stick to a long range plan.....like ever. How long do they give Joerger? 2 years and dump him because he can't win with a subpar roster...wouldn't put it past the ownership.
Where does one begin? Wha if one enjoyed and enjoys each game since the change? I did and I do.

I always do a bit of dreaming and still do despite reality.

There is always a long range plan and we are in the middle of one now. I think we all knew that this year was the year when we would see the answer to whether they decided to keep Cuz or drop him as part of the plan. My view about the question was it was a 50/50 chance either way. I early decided I would back them either way.

I am not feeling apathy nor a lack of interest. No one n the organization is guilty of a mistake, in fact praise and admiration for making a tough decision on their way to the future.

And I am not worrying about the future of Joerger, he is doing a fine job and I am sure the FO knows this.

Good for you....I also back them despite the trade which in my view was terrible.....the organization is guilty of plenty. Not sticking to a plan has been the biggest problem. You can't tell me that after all of these signings and deals to bring in vets and giving a Joerger/Cousins era...what 40 games.... Is sticking to a plan. Telling the coach that they will not be in a rebuilding mode when he agreed to sign his contract.

What? Making promises to get the talent to sign on a deal, and them immediately reneging on them? This ownership group would never do something like that!
Did the Kings ever promise DMC an extension? As far as I know, the Kings intimated to Cousins they wanted him to be a King past next year and worked on an extension. Along the way, they had a change of heart. That's not breaking a promise.

Semantics. If you make it understood you are going to do something and then don't do it, whether or not you broke a promise because of "technicalities" (i.e. change of heart) you broke the spirit of the promise. Technicalities be damned.

Were they within their rights to change their mind? Yes. Are the fans in their right to hold the flames to Vlade's feet because of management's waffling? Yes.

I'm not playing with Joerger, neither should management, it's youth time. I'm looking forward to Papas minutes
That's my number 1 most anticipated moment of the season; When PapaG finally gets unleashed.

I really don't see how even 10 minutes a night could hurt.

MOD NOTE: I split the discussion of the front office/coach dynamic into its own thread so it and the game discussion could continue their separate paths.

I'm against this. If he's not ready, he's not ready. Putting someone in a game (even for 10 minutes, which is kinda more than you think) when they're not really creates bad habits.

The way Richardson was handled should dispel any notion that he won't play kids. To me, he'll play them when they're ready. A sunk season shouldn't change that.

Anyone else see a young James Harden in Buddy? Once he tightens up his handle and gets a better feel for the game seems like he has a lot of upside. I'm really enjoying watching him and Skal these last couple weeks.

Tonight's missing Kings: Arron Afflalo, Kosta Koufos, Ty Lawson, Tyreke Evans and Malachi Richardson.

Looks like Joerger is gonna HALF to play Papa. :p
Wait, what?

Afflalo... leg?
Kosta... finger?
Lawson...leg?
Reke... rest?

Did I nail it?

Congratulations to Kayte, who just fielded a question about the strategy of resting so many veterans and didn't use the "T" word even once.

Sooooo wrong.

Afflalo - Rest
Kosta - Rest
Lawson - Rest
Evans - Ankle
I hope Grant is as pissed about the Kings doing that as he is when anyone else does it.

... who am I kidding? He's too busy drooling about the extended minutes for Skal! (The best Kings big man since C-Webb, BTW)
:p

I like it though! I'm far more interested in this game after learning of this development!

I forget that man exists until I see his name in writing. Even when I see him on the bench I say "Who's that?"
When people whine about all the sgs, they forget Galloway who supposedly is a sg. With luck, we'll see some pg skills. He makes more money than any of the starters which galls me that we haven't seen him.

I saw VF21's note. If he's not good why does he make $5 mil and is signed through next year. It makes Vlade seem close to incompetent. Was it so important to unload Boogie that we take back Galloway? He's not even an expiring.

Maybe he was better when he got the contract? Or they overpaid on potential? All I know is that I had him on one of my fantasy teams and he never failed to disappoint.
