If this is true, Ty Lawson will be available for real cheap this summer and this will help Darren Collison make a whole lot of money this summer! o_O

What does this even mean? for all we know he was late to a meeting or didnt do enough community service hours. I think its wrong to crucify this man with little to no knowledge of what is actually going on.
With no new breaking info coming out as the day progressed I'm getting slightly more optimistic about his status.

If the Kings FO new of this, and I suspect that they did, it's a terrible decision to not trade him for assets at the TDL. A 2nd rd pick or even a heavily protected 1st would have been a great haul. I think Ty has been great, and it's unfortunate that he's been unable to kick this terrible disease to the curb. I hope he eventually is able to do so.

Let us say he missed 4 therapy sessions and the decision was that he spent a month in jail. Do you think this hurts our new culture? Perhaps we need to define what this new culture is.
How about following the terms of probation. That's a pretty low bar.

Cut him, then replace him with a young PG from the DL. I'd be ok with Isaiah Cousins.

However, this would just mean Joerger plays Collison, Tyreke, and Temple gets 40mins each, while Isaiah gets DNPd.

That's why he would spend a month in jail. I was wondering if a person who misses 4 appointments hurts OUR new culture.

I realize he should have followed the probation outline and I have no sympathy for him.

The Kings will probably cut him if this is true, but Alcoholism is truly a disease.

He needs help and obviously he can't do it himself. I would hope the Kings would offer to help him get the help he needs. :(

I'd give him the benefit of the doubt until this is cessed out, but your right that Joerger wouldn't play Cousins

This echoes my sentiments exactly. I wish him good luck and hope he can, in fact, get the help he needs.

Chris Mullin is not popular around here. He played for GSW and was the advisor to the owner known as "Flattop". That said he faced his problem with alcohol and made it past it to be a good player.

If it was me I would sit down with Ty and his agent and put a plan in place to let him succeed. A team option contract based on Ty completing Rehab and staying sober seems like the best path. Now Ty has got to admit his problem and be willing to face it and then correct it. But people get past substance abuse issues and succeed in life. IMO Ty deserves that much considering the effort and good play I have witnessed as a King.

If you preach culture and character, then you need to follow through on this at the appropriate time.......for consistency sake.

Twice in September 2016 ... kinda makes your reexamine Lawson missing a team flight from Las Vegas in October 2016 ... as his primary excuse for it being non-alcohol related was he hadn't touched the stuff in a long time.

Collision was arrested this summer, there would have been an arrest warrant issued for Barnes at some point if he didn't surrender, and Lawson will presumably surrender to avoid the arrest warrant being issued and show compliance. Three players on the wrong side of the law in less than a year. Both of your point guards are currently on probation and one just violated the terms of his probation. That's bad look in any city, but in little old Sacramento, that's going to be an issue.

That's the problem you create when you make a blanket statement like "Character matters." IMHO there's a huge difference between a player getting into a bar fight and a player trying to deal with a substance abuse problem. But they both invoke the same criticism - Character matters - so, as dude12 says, you're going to have to be consistent in how you deal with them.

Jokes aside, the thing about alcoholism is that it's hard for some people to have sympathy because, while it is a disease, it is one of the relatively few diseases that is self-inflicted. Like, you might be genetically predisposed towards alcoholism, but you're never going to wake up with alcoholism, in the same way that you could wake up with, say, a tumor, or Graves' disease. Even accounting for hereditary and environmental factors, alcoholism is still something that you pretty much have to make happen to yourself, which impacts many peoples' (myself included) ability to have empathy.
